My favourite hairdos will forever be the world mix. I always got a bag to bring home whenever my family and I went to France when I was younger, there’re amazing!
The ginger lemon ones, and the cola bottles are my favorite! I’m not surprised there are so many different types, I guess countries tailor to their fave flavors, and unique shapes. I’m going to have to order some of the more exotic ones!
the first time i had starmix was as a kid visiting the UK. i loved the fried eggs the most. back in the US i was so disappointed learning our version didn’t have the eggs
I have always found myself going for these over the basic starmix. I think starmix are rather bland whilst the Tangfastics just have a bit more fun to the flavour and kicks up the basic part of starmix. Supermix or whatever its called was a more fun turn on Starmix, which despite not being as popular, for me was honestly a much more enjoyable alternative.
09:00 The Haribo shops in the UK often have products from other countries. Only snag is there are only ten of them: Ashford (Kent), Braintree Village, Cheshire Oaks (Ellesmere Port), Clarks Village (Street, near Glastonbury), East Midlands Outlet (near Alfreton), Gunwharf Quays (Portsmouth), Swindon, West Midlands Outlet (Cannock), York Designer Outlet and, of course, right next to the factory in Pontefract.
I loved the Haribo store in Mcarthur Glenn (cannock). I got a huge circular tub of cherries. I also got sour cherries they were gone within a week. 😂😂😂
What are the odds... Me and my Dad went out shopping, and my Dad bought me Haribo Golden Bears. Just to come back home to see this video show up in my notifications 😂
Pretty sure we have had smurfs and the cola versions. Poundland have the peaches, my 2nd favourite after strawbs. You can also get mini and all white chamellows. There's a fizzy fish, similar to the soda bottles
The one time I was wishing theyd have a food wars germany episode! We dont have much to offer in terms of fast food, but our Haribo game is on point! 😂
We need more sour-related food comparisons. Tbh I didn’t know that Haribo had so many freaking options, and these are just US vs UK. Great commentary and research! 🍬 👏 😋
This episode proves that tastes clearly vary. I ADORE sour candies. I've yet to find one that's sour enough or stays sour long enough. Most are just like "sorry were these supposed to be sour?" Same thoughts on mint. Can always use more mint.
i come from pontefract and we have liquorice festivals every year, although they’re only like by older men and women ahaha, we also have a hating factory and a few haribo stores
Joe took several for the team with the Sour Candy Torture, yet Harry was allowed to pass on the Pontefract Cake Challenge? Conversations need to be had...Fantastic video as ever, anyway!
Yourr missing all the shop pick and mix tubs. One perk of being a former shop manager where we stocked confectionary was the ability to buy entire tubs of milk bottles and get upset how quickly i got through one 😅
Three fun facts: - In Germany the gummibears also had only 5 flavours with the green flavour being strawberry up until 2007. In 2007 they changed their products and added the light red bear to taste like strawberry while the green one now had the new apple flavour. - The strawberries known as Tagada, which you have in the US are the same ones Haribo sells in France, exact same name. In Germany they are called Primavera. - Haribo has 15 own shops in Germany, where they only sell their candies. There you can also get international gummies and they sell the Goldbears seperated by flavours.
I'd say just about most candies I ate growing up were sour. Mexico loves lime flavoring as well as tamarind which is lightly sour. The new skittles "fuego" are a combo of chile-lime seasoning on skittles and way better than their normal varieties. I guess it's ingrained into some people whether they like sour or not, but I'll say sour beers can range in taste, so I know I only like those rarely.
My favourite flavor is pineapple. That's why I go to the factory store in Linz, Austria (a 1 hour train ride for me) to get a 1kg bag (or maybe more) of them... Yes, factory stores have the flavors singled out in 1kg bags.
Haribo Miami Pik (French) are delicious. Sorry Joe they are sour. Flat, square connected pull apart strands in with four colors/flavors a square. I always bring two or three bags home with me, and save them like a miser for when I need a treat.
In 2017, my husband and I visited his cousin in Edinburgh. There, I fell in love with Wine Gums. I ate them every day we were there. The day before we were supposed to leave, one of my beloved Wine Gums took a filling out of one of my teeth. Most expensive bag of candy I've ever bought, thanks to the dentist bill I subsequently had to pay. I'm still mad at Wine Gums.
One of my favorite things about travelling to Europe is getting European Haribo. I don't get a lot of souvenirs besides that. Most American Haribo are just straight up gummis in different flavors. In the UK they have so many more textures.
I love Haribo, what a great episode! Haribo marshmallows were surprisingly disgusting though and it must be the lack of gelatin that leaves me not liking Giant Strawbs that much.
I would imagine that not ever bag is filled with the exact same quantity of each flavor. So maybe open and count multiple bags so you can get an average count of each flavor in the bag.
Pontefract is in fact a town, it's way larger than a village having around 30,000 inhabitants. It's one of the towns that make up what is collectively known locally as the District of Wakefield and the five towns.
The population is irrelevant to whether something is a town or village and is entirely to do with charters and their council positioning. Same with cities which is decided by the monarch mostly though government these days.
I like the Haribo Jelly Babies more than the Bassets ones tbh. My favourite Haribo are the Peach ones that I haven't seen in the UK in ages. Need to import some...or maybe take a trip to the Haribo shop in Street...soon thanks to this vid. I absolutely pay attention to the flavours of the Goldbears, though, because I have to take one of each flavour and eat them in rainbow order. I have no neuro divergence at all. But I'm shocked that the US ones have artifical colours in them. I would have thought they would have protected the brand and kept them out of the product.
I feel very educated today, I came to this just after watching something on making wool from milk and how much milk and cheese waste we have! Never knew clothes used to be and still can be made from milk!!
The UK bears are definitely much nicer than the US version. Had a UK pack last week flying to Orlando & picked some up in Orlando when we were there & everytime I keep saying how they taste nothing like ours in the UK. Same goes for Skittles, Starburst & milkyway. UK version is a lot nicer.
