    I love this. Most (terrible) comedians would go the route of making fun of the Gen Zer & question why we need new terminology anyway which comes off as grating & whining. This instead put the onus on the comedian & cleverly turned it into a “just trying to fit in” story which is a lot more palatable & makes her a sympathetic character while still leaving criticism of the new term (either for or against) up in the air.

      So what you are basically saying is that you want to change language that has been around for centuries and anyone questioning why it is even necessary or expressing that it is not needed, is judged as just whining. I do have a problem with how words are changed because there are words that elicit an emotional response.
      Unalived is not the same as suicide, assault with intent to cause bodily harm is not the same as the word that starts with r. Certain words used to have a strong emotional connotation which made people realize how appaling an action was. One of these days there will be a new word for people who do the unthinkable with children. It is quite clear that mellow words are becoming the norm

    • @merchantarthurn
      @merchantarthurn 2 місяці тому +9

      @@cornelia-wp5hj It's notable that it's not that these words are changing, it's that the actual words are so heavily censored by major social media platforms that people are creating slang or code to avoid the actual words. For the hypothetical you mentioned at the end, the things I've seen is "pdf file" (it sounds similar when said aloud). You'll find the people using these substitutions are also typically frustrated and the blame for it rests with advertisers and platforms for being hypersensitive to anything controversial or "not safe for kids", even if the space isn't intended for kids ://
