    Thanks for the info quick and to the point. I just had a 2 quick questions. Is it necessary to get licenses in addition to the class B shouldn't you be able to do just about all the other trades with exception to very specific engineering work/hazardous/etc.? Also do you have information about some of the other costs involved with getting a license like the bond/worker's comp/insurance etc.? Thanks again!

    • @digitalconstructive5486
      @digitalconstructive5486  4 роки тому +1

      So the General B license allows you to bid on a project that may involve multiple trades however the actual work (apart from framing/rough carpentry) must be done by contractors holding those specific licenses.
      Check out this video, it breaks it down in detail: ua-cam.com/video/Goa_ZWyAs3k/v-deo.html
      The cost of insurance, bonding, workers comp, etc depends on a lot of different factors. However, we've got some videos that will be covering it coming out soon. Stay tuned!

      @@digitalconstructive5486 Whoa that was a quick response! Thanks for the info that makes sense. So as long as all work outside of framing/rough carpentry is subbed out you're good? I'll check out the video and looking forward to the video on all those other costs thanks!

    When would be a good time to get the required contractor bond? I know the that its supposed to be after passing the exam and before activating my license but I'm unclear as to how much time I will have to get the bond after passing the exam.

    • @digitalconstructive5486
      @digitalconstructive5486  3 роки тому +1

      Hello Antonio, the CSLB does not stipulate an exact time frame as to when you are supposed to get the bond however they do require that it is received at the CSLB's headquarters within 90 days of the effective date of the bond. I would say it is best to get it going as soon as you can after you pass your exam.

    If I want to start a painting business do I have to become license first before forming my business entity or should I form my business first and then become licensed? I've read the CSLB Contractors License Law and Reference book and I plan on taking your digital course as well to become licensed soon but im not sure if doing one or the other first matters

    • @digitalconstructive5486

      So it all depends on how you would like to operate your business. You don't necessarily need to create an entity. The quickest way would be simply to apply as a sole proprietor and have the license in your name. However, if you are looking to establish a company, take advantage of certain tax advantages, and protect personal assets it may make sense to set up a business entity. We go into depth on this subject here: digitalconstructive.com/construction-llc/

    • @digitalconstructive5486
      @digitalconstructive5486  4 роки тому

      Yes, that's true. I didn't include it in this video because the cost of the contractor bond has a lot to do with the financial profile of the individual. Also, while the CSLB recommends it, General Liability Insurance is currently only required for LLC's. We do however have a post that covers bonding in detail. Would you say it worth spending the extra $100 on the crash course VS the basic exam preparation kit on the general b?

    What about the $15000 bond

    • @digitalconstructive5486
      @digitalconstructive5486  2 роки тому

      Yes, the 15k bond is separate. You will need to show proof of bond after you pass the exam before the CSLB activates your license. We cover this in more detail here: digitalconstructive.com/construction-bonds-explained/

      @@MexDurango11 you don’t pay the full amount of the bond. That is just how much it is worth. You will be quoted a bond price based on your financial history and credit, and then you pay monthly premiums for the policy. Similar to liability or car insurance.

      The test can certainly be tricky if you aren't prepared. So if you specialize in gutter installation you can get either the C-61/D-24 Metal Products license or if you plan on doing larger sheet metal related projects the C-43 Sheet Metal license: digitalconstruc.samcart.com/products/contractor-license
