i don't know if this helps, but with the thruster, in the hairpins you can hold R1 and L1 for increased sensitivity at low speeds, which helps a ton with fine movements and, to a lesser extent, acceleration. i think the game mentions that in the act 3 finale just before you have to land the thruster (don't quote me on that).
If you like doing things by the tier system, then you should continue to do it. While it may not be useful to everyone, I know you (and I assume other racing crews) like to mix things up by doing occasional Tier D Sports Car races instead of just racing the top cars. However, if it’s a lot more work to organize the videos by tiers, then do what makes you happy. But I think the tiers make you happy because we all know you’re a completionist.
Nah it's no more or less work. I prefer the tiers too. But there have been the odd comments saying some of the raceable cars videos are hard to follow (to be clear those comments are very very rare) so I just wanted to put the question in case people preferred the straight lap time style instead.
I definitely prefer the tier system, as my list of cars I own that’s in alphabetical order also have the letters in front of them for the tier too. Missing bar the motorcycle and other non raceable vehicles, but overall; thank you for doing this for all these years
I'd really love to see the Thruster and other flying vehicles tested on the air track (the one meant for testing planes and helicopters). Maybe this could be a Special video, testing the Thruster, Deluxo and Oppressor Mk2. At the same time, I'd love to see another video of the Amphibious vehicles tested on the water track (the one meant for boats). Stuff like the APC, Zhaba, Stromberg, Toreador, Technical Aqua, Blazer Aqua (and even the Deluxo as a bonus).
This, especially since they're all unracable in normal circumstances, might as well put them through the conditions where they're most likely compared, regardless of class, for their special abilities.
I've been asked about this for years, but the truth is it's always the lowest possible priority and I've just never gotten around to it. Never say never, but it's definitely in the realm of the planes, boats, helis as I was talking about at the end.
I genuinely like the tier-system where it makes sense, because as someone who once-in-a-blue-moon creates races, I can potentially enforce certainly car types to tracks, and ensure they're pretty fair and fun.
I don’t really use the tier system, but it is helpful for those that do. I would rather have it and ignore it myself than not have it and then people miss it who use it.
The "real life Scarab" is really fast too, but it's more a toy for rich people (wearing bath robes) who like to ride through sand and has not much to do with a military vehicle
Its really not that fast in game though. It only looks fast here because the entire class is slow in general. If you play the new fib mission in game you will realize that this vehicle is barely any faster than npc traffic on highway.
I'm actually surprised he's using the upgraded missile turret on the top of for vehicle testing. At least he got the off-roads wheels on it since, yes, this vehicle does have the tyres clip flag. Honestly if the Nightshark didn't exist you'd see the APC far more often.
When my friends and I still played GTA we loved to use the APC for the Cayo setup where you had to steal the guns from an office. After leaving the building you get followed by some really annoying helicopters and with the APC it was really chill to get rid of them.
5:10 I think you could definitely put on the shunt boost to lower the lap time. It would be really hard but I think you could use it to cut corners faster
As neat as it is to have a proper order and to know what the fastest thing is (which you still can have since you have the numbers), it's mostly a novelty. General competetivness seems more relevant, so I vote for tiers.
It feels great to finally see all the updated testing videos are now out and everything is up to date. It did take me a second to remember that from the 5 videos with the full list before the newer gen versions came out, the Invade and Persuade Tank was the one vehicle that was never tested previously. Don't know if anybody else realized that before me. With regards to the testing format, I personally prefer the letter tiers because it adds that extra layer of fairness to races. Whether people will actually stick to the tier chosen is hard to tell. I do hope you eventually test the other classes but for now, take your time and be proud that the main goal of this testing series is now done.
@@broughy1322 Ah OK. Looking back, it makes sense why it wouldn't have been in a video since the last Military testing video was in 2018 (apart from the Vetir in 2021) whereas the RC Bandito was in the 2020 Offroads video.
Thank you for all the testing you’ve done! Would you possibly be interested in testing weapons? I love your methods of testing and everything, and nobody really has a good test series on weapons
I still wonder how the Thruster will perform if you took it around the same in-air testing tracks of the helicopters & planes, & utilizing its strafing ability around the tighter corners. What is its actual highest top speed? It may be in the military class but it's pointless to not compare it to helicopters in the same conditions...
Testing finally finished. Thank you for the hundreds of hours of hard work, you've definitely earned a good long break - until sometime well beyond March at least. 😉 I would definitely stick with organising by tier, rather than lap time. It's much easier to compare relevant cars that way. For the outlyers... Some of the high top speed cars have such poor acceleration that they can't really use that top speed on normal racing tracks, even those with long straights (the D10 springs to mind). The back straight on CCGP seems to take top speed into account pretty well, unless they have poor acceleration. The Deveste Eight seems like a prime candidate to bump up a tier we it has great speed & acceleration, but it held back by CCGP's unusually tight corners. And the only time any sane person would choose it in a race is where there are no tight corners. Downforce seems to be more relevant that top speed for assessing if a car needs to be bumped up a tier. CCGP seems like track which disadvantages downforce cars (vs the tracks which are typically raced), as it lacks the long medium-fast corners where downforce is most beneficial and is mostly slow corners where they're at their weakest. (I would love to see a lap of CCGP in a medium speed downforce car with the live WDF readout, if that is still possible. Just to see for how much (or little) of the lap the car is travelling fast enough to benefit from the downforce.)
I would enjoy watching updated testing videos for all of the other classes. You might get some additional views of you post aircraft testing videos when the Spring "update" and new hangar space is released.
The Scarab gets plenty of extra acceleration from the boost. It's just that it also has capped top speed, so the boost won't help when you're already at top speed.
Yeah you can definitely see that at the hairpin. My comment was more about overall help isn't anything close to what the other arena vehicles get because of the top speed cap.
Tier system is nice but it just only makes sense in classes with equal-ish vehicles. For military it seems like lap time is sufficient, but things like sports, sports classics, supers etc really need the tier system. Racing communities actually rely on your tiers for car choice
I really prefer organization by lap times. but you're the testing pro, and I trust you'll rank it all based on what works for the largest number of people. but either way, I appreciate the time you put in to get the info out to us!
i am hugely in favour of keeping the Tier system for raceable vehicles. having options to have a fair race where everyone can pick a different or at least some deifferent cars is great. i think keeping it rank only for unraceable is fair, esp when the gaps are so large as they are in this class
I am pretty sure the thruster should be faster than that, judging by the way you are "handling" it in this video. I say this, because there is some small functionality with the thruster that allows for quick turns, maneuvering and change of direction. I might be wrong with this statement anyways because you probably used the fastest racing line with every vehicle. I'm judging by a pretty short clip of it, anyways. Any way I can watch the entire lap, though?
Doing 26 MPH hunting down some fool all over the map!!! So worth it till you get perfect hello there ! moment with the mini tank worth the 26 MPH when you wipe said fool off said map

Cycles are fine, but there’s no point doing them if I’m not going to do motorcycles too. Motorcycles are just annoying to test and drive in general with too much grip.

You are correct about the game mentioning it during Act 3, and yes, I believe it would help with the hairpins as well as some corners.
It was a heroic feat, thanks, Broughy. As for the tier system, I kinda enjoy it in the main classes, so I think it's fine as it is.

Already happened with Industrial. There are workarounds.

I actually mis-spoke. Both Vetir and Barracks have 10 seats. So same functionality, just the new more expensive one is 10 seconds per lap slower.
