My hometown. A true delight. Posh as posh can be but beautiful. There's a real mix of old and new intermingling - the Arc was built over the old cattle market and it houses the upscale shops and the market area - as featured in this video - is relatively unchanged! It's such a calming place to live too, with the Abbey and its gardens perfect to sit and get away from your stresses ❤💜

I wouldn’t bother coming to Bury now. Just another overcrowded, gentrified, characterless commuter town with increasingly rich out of towners buying all the houses. Pubs are far too expensive, everyone’s very impolite and selfish (apart from a few old locals) and crumbling infrastructure. It ain’t what it used to be
Completely false information. The town is thriving, certainly in comparison to other Suffolk towns. Pubs are expensive everywhere, but in Bury, just a short walk from town, you'll find the dove, they still sell pints at £2.50/£3. There is also the rose and crown, and the con club, both very reasonable with prices. Everyone I meet around town and in the pubs, are all very friendly. But of course you will find rude people here and there.

I remember seeing the series the first time around - I needed that refresher course.
Wonderful - a true eccentric Englishman who really knows his stuff. Thank you Sir Alec. R.I.P.
This is so calming and informative, thank you for sharing
Should add that the cathedral does now have a very fine tower- a Millenium project

How sad.
