I hiked 16 miles yesterday in kettel morain, the hills are not big but it is up and down all the way. I had a 10 lb. Weighted vest and 1.5 lbs on each wrist. I am 61 I don't know how you girls do it. Every fiber of my being hurt. The up side is not so bad this morning. You girls are so strong to be carring around those packs for days on end. You inspire me, I will get there.
So glad that you have found a solution to keep you going. PF can be a challenge and I too have occasional bouts to deal with. Yes, the book is so helpful and user friendly. Cheers. Wendy
Love that you use your "stuff" till it's no longer able. So refreshing to hear people who don't need the latest and best of everything, and you kick butt with your stuff! Happy to hear you are spending time with family and friends too. Have a wonderful week. And glad the medications are all done, fingers crossed for the next tests in a few months time.
The toaks pot and bts stove top is half the price of the original version by msr which I purchased back in 80’s I believe. So that’s great! Swimsuit shopping is not easy. Congrads on all the nice new gear!!
Re: Swimsuits - check out LL Bean. They have a smorgasbord of tops and bottoms - mix and match. You get exactly what you want. Great gear review. I have that set up but have not used as my adventures have largely been based on car camping - a function of healing from lots of ailments. If you can’t get out one way, find another way. Make it happen. I am living the dream with titanium embedded within me to keep on keeping on. I am still here! Lots of adventures left in me to chase after. You guys, too! Have a terrific summer! Can’t wait to see what else you get up to!
Those little stoves are amazing! Can't wait for the next adventure. 😊 growing up in Pueblo is does get hot in the summer ☀️ and cold in the winter. . But I loved it.
9 months post total knee replacement - hiking 8+ technical with elevation and working up mileage biking. It’s been 5 years since I’ve been able to be active pain free! Thanks for the motivation and keep at it.
That’s the cooking set up I use! I get up so early that I need my own coffee set up, even hiking with my daughter. I’ll bet you guys look pretty darn good in swimsuits!
WAWO! Ya’ll are awesome! I have been thinking after watching the last couple of videos that you needed new packs. So happy for you! Toaks pot is awesome too! Happy Trails!!!
I just switched out my stove kit this past week, too. I got a TOAKS 550ml pot, 2.6 oz, and a Soto Windmaster Stove, 2.3 oz, for a total weight of 4.9 oz. Love it.
Thanks Linda. Looking for gear is fun. And the getting out there to try it out is even more fun. I'm looking forward to our summer of many mini backpack trips.
A physical therapist recommendation for plantar fasciitis (PF) - greetings and thanks so much for the motivating videos! I want to share a few ideas about PF that you may or may not have tried to resolve your problem. Of course, I must first state a disclaimer that as I am not your PT, and that these are general recommendations for you to use if they resonate...1) trigger point treatment - particularly for the soleus, quadratus plantae and tibialis posterior. Clair Davies has a fantastic workbook for the layperson for self-treatment 2) shoes - if you hike in Altra Lone Peaks - you may have better luck with Altra Olympus or Experience Wild (4mm drop and rocker) as they have a beefier stack height. Cheers and thanks again for the wonderful entertainment and motivation...Pacific Crest Trail for me next year! Wendy
I second your recommendations. The calf is just an extension of the foot! I find that I don’t need to tape (I use KT) if I use the trigger point book. It’s amazing.
@@demelar I like the Experience Wild for the 4mm drop and rocker bottom. I just got a pair for trail running and I really noticed the nice balance of cushion and support. For PF I think that may be a really great help. Good luck with this....regarding the PCT - I am doing local backpack trips at MT Rainier this year and also TMB! We'll see how the lottery goes next year!
Very helpful video. Thank you. I saw on another hiking vlog about using bikers tent. They had a 2 person one and showed how compact and light it is. I don't bike, just hike but the lighter the better. Cabellas has 2 person tents for around $200 to $450.
Hi girls, glad to see the new gear. Totally agree about the prices of the new stuff. Stay cool. Turn up the A/C and thank you for sharing. Keep ‘em coming. P.S. looking forward to see you both poolside at the condo wearing those new suits. 😊
Glad to hear you got ULA packs again. I bought one 2 years ago based on you 2 and it’s going strong I see soooo many thru hikers with the hyperlite, and was maybe second guessing. I’m hiking the John Muir this summer and am trying not to get “influenced,” I did get a bidet but have not had a chance to try it and I did get a bigger dymena sack than the orange toaks to hold my gsi cup, fits inside the toaks, plus Steve lighter, etc. not giving up my gsi cup. I like hot drinks to stay hot.
Hi ladies! Really enjoyed the video. Lovely bike trail at the end. I fully agree with you regarding not spending a fortune on gear. I wouldn't pay 1K for a tent either or purchase the expensive ultra light gear. I've done long distance biking and hiking, and my experience is to get what's comfortable and reasonably priced. As far as bathing suits, I'm with you on that too. Also being a senior, bikinis are out of the question. I also like the tank top with built-in bra and spandex shorts, like Bermuda length, for swimming. See you on the next one!
Curious about the swim suits. Don't need to see it on, but I'd love to see what you got. It is so hard to find a modest suit that is sporty, not too fitted or too loose.
Yup, swimsuits at our age are a challenge. I don’t swim anymore, however, I did find these cool swim leggings with an attached tulip skirt at Land’s End. They look like tennis togs, but I wear them hiking and around the house. If you buy them during the off-season, they’re half off.
I really hated the brs stove. Super flimsy and blows out with the tiniest gust of wind. Plus it's not efficient in gas use at all Hopefully it will bring you more joy.
That is the exact set up I have used since I started backpacking in 2018. I put my dish cloth in the pot, my fuel canister in the cloth as well as the stove. I also have a small stand that I attach to my fuel canister that makes my set up more stable. All fits inside the pot. Don’t get me started on swimsuits. Got one a few months ago at Costco when they first came out.
Thanks for the video! I was supposed to be passing through Pueblo a few weeks ago but work changed my plans. I really love Three Sisters in Co City. Anyway. I have that little stove. Actually I have 2 because I read something about unreliability. They aren't good in wind and they are inefficient but other than that I love it for size and weight. MSR makes a clicker to start the fire that is light and requires no fuel or batteries. I've cooked and heated up tea quite a bit with it and I really enjoy it.
Is that Saint Andrews, New Brunswick, Canada behind you in the picture? It sure looks like it. I lived in that red building for one summer while I worked at the Shiretown Inn across the street. They have 40 foot tides there.
Oh come on girls! We want you to model your swimsuits! lol As an older, plump woman, I wouldn’t be caught dead modeling mine!!😂 I use that same cooking set up, but I got my little stove at Walmart. So far it’s worked well for me.
Watch out, Pesky might sneak a picture of you in your swimsuits! Why wouldn't you want a pic in swimsuits, you're slim and trim and I'd like to see what you bought. I think what you described is called a tankini. Glad you're both on the mend. Take care, be safe.
You two always make me smile and inspire. Thanks for that! I understand the excitement of new gear!! My latest is a Conch pee funnel. 😂 It has changed my life. At 63 I’m still Mt biking. I love it but it’s so tough to maintain the strength needed as I’m aging. I guess I’ll keep doing until I can’t…or buy a mt e-bike. 😂 Get the gear!! ua-cam.com/video/R3SFqV0hMyo/v-deo.htmlsi=SU5a2OyKAS0gPlNi
I had a knee replacement 2 months ago. My dad is 92. We both “hiked” a mile together today. We got out there and had fun.
Yay for you both. Way to go!
That's awesome! Go you! 😊
That's so good to hear. 😊

Awesome job. Keep going.
Watching your videos is like tuning in to old friends telling you what their up to lately!

I love these updates and great information! Keep doing these updates in between adventures. We need you gals!

Yay, keep going strong.

I use that cooking set up and love it. Yes BRS stove is awfully cute, and works great!!
You guys are funny. That pot and stove has been popular for years. 😃
WAWO! Ya’ll are awesome! I have been thinking after watching the last couple of videos that you needed new packs. So happy for you! Toaks pot is awesome too! Happy Trails!!!
The big ride was absolutely beautiful! Had to add that!

New gear... such fun!!!! Excited to see the gear in use. Y'all continue to impress me to the sky and back!
Thanks Linda. Looking for gear is fun. And the getting out there to try it out is even more fun. I'm looking forward to our summer of many mini backpack trips.
Ugh....swim suit shopping can be traumatising! 🤪
Love the new cooking set up. I have the same, and I love it! It really was a game changer for me.
The wrap around mirrors in the dressing rooms . . . OMG
I always like seeing what you are using for gear and of course I enjoy the bike rides. I’m getting ready to do some camping.

Thanks Wendy. I've been eyeing those Altra Wild Experience. I think you're right it might be a good experiment to see if it helps.
Keep us in the know about your PCT trek!

Great hearing that you purchased new packs & stoves. Can't wait to hear your review once you're backpacking again.
Stay safe

So glad you are both feeling good!! Enjoy your new gear! Looking forward to seeing your new hiking and biking videos! ❤❤
Absolutely beautiful presentation my friend! This looks great and nicely elaborated!
Thank you.
I enjoy all of your bike trails. I live where it is beautiful -- but mostly road riding here in Sonoma County, CA.
You’ve inspired me for years much love and respect ❤
Thank you.

Such a beautiful bike trail. Great on new gear!!! ❤

We all have to find what works for us -- the important part is getting out and using it 😊
Curious about the swim suits. Don't need to see it on, but I'd love to see what you got. It is so hard to find a modest suit that is sporty, not too fitted or too loose.
I'll get Kristy to sneak in some photos. I'm pretty sure Pesky got a new one piece with boyleg suit.
Toaks and BRS is the setup I use, too. I use the fuel can stabilizer from my Jetboil - not necessary, but it makes me feel safer.

Good to know. Wind is always hard.
Got a question, what’s the name of the song played in your PCT videos about Saturday? I love it!
Bugger hot in Northern AZ. New stuff is fun.
Happy to report that my Toaks pot and brs stove have survived 8 years of backpacking!
Yay, great news.
Is that Saint Andrews, New Brunswick, Canada behind you in the picture? It sure looks like it. I lived in that red building for one summer while I worked at the Shiretown Inn across the street. They have 40 foot tides there.
Yay, new gear! 🎉
110 in Tucson today, low 82
Cmon you two could totally rock bikinis! Stay cool in that heat.
❤

if not a photo of you ladies in your new swimsuits, then a picture and details about the swimsuits......please!!!!! I need some ideas!!!!
The brand is Yonique.
What brand swim suit?
Pesky got a Beautyins one piece with boyleg on Amazon, but she hasn't water tested it yet. It looks good.
