The ix3 has a seat occupancy detector for all seats. Notice the seat belt reminder is available for all seats? So if there was really someone in the back seat the vehicle will remain on. In your case there was no one so it kept turning off, it’s a safety feature preventing users from leaving their car on.
Bobby, i had the same reaction when i got the car. You can just press the *internal air circulation hard button* located at the climate control and it will start the air conditioning even when door is open.

Select start the auxiliary climate control onscreen to keep the ac running after the door open. Same for bmw phev. But another alternative for bmw phev before open door, left foot step brake with simultaneously right foot step throttle pedal to manual start the engine. After open driver door, the car won’t switch off with the engine running. Switch off function just no idea what it is for 🤷
But ... in hybrid i know to force start the engine .... EV also? And that few revving to force start the engine in the PHEVs would've burnt off way more than those saved while the car remained started
@@BobbyAngmalaysia it seems no way to keep the EV on with driver door open I guess. If the purpose of keeping the car started is just for the AC, just select the auxiliary climate control after opening door before you leave. Been using this on my G05 phev. If hate the inconvenient of pressing start button each time return, there’s no way to overcome that 😂.
The switch off function is after you push the start/stop button to stop the car. If it is ticked, the radio, screen etc will shut off. If it is unticked, radio, screen remains on after the door is open
agree its better than iX3, but respectfully disagree that its better than something like a 330i/530i as a daily. especially not this 2.3 ton, RWD EV X3 lol

Also super easy to climatise from the app and it will run for 30 minutes regardless what you do or do not do with the doors etc.

You can also trick the system by putting the seat belt on without wearing one

Step on the paddle 2 time to bypass it. This is apply to all hybrid bmw and EV.

There must be a passenger for that function to work.
My guess is someone actually needs to actually sit at the passenger side, then it will not be turned off.
Maybe it needs at least 1 passenger to be inside while the driver gets down? Just guessing here
Nope it doesn't. This annoys the driver most when we have passengers in the car and the car switched off while we get down to buy something

I don’t like the IX I prefer this IX3 look quite nice interior and love how the steering wheel.
iDrive 7 is very buggy, this is a known bug in all the cars. they now move on to iDrive 8 with the superwide TV screen.
