Your comment hit home about hiking now before you can't anymore. Now in my mid-seventies with wobbly hips, I long to be able to hike like I used to, but am very grateful for the many hikes and climbs I did when I could. Keep on hiking!! Great photos!
Really nice drone work Gavin! I am gonna have to make it up there to shoot with you soon. I am sure we would get along great on the trip, what could go wrong?
Keep hiking as long as you can. Im 57 and never thought when I was 45 I would be unable to walk and have to get around in an eclectic wheelchair. Things go to shit fast so enjoy it I get my fill of landscape photography from people like you out in the wild taking average photos. 🤣🤣 I am taking the piss you take some great shots thanks for taking me up the hill with you 2x👍
yes, do your hiking while you are young. At age 59, I got into photography very seriously. Now I am two months shy of 68 and I have major spinal issues and now I can't even get out of a parking lot or as you English say, car park, and I hate being old, but I still think I can do until I do it and know I can't. Do it now !
Hi, the drone footage is beautiful and so is the drone shot. It is rare that you get that perfect light. So, I thought the moody sky and composition you took with your Sony is still nice.
I pressed the like button because Amanda broke wind! 🤣 There was no need to carry bear 🐻spray as all the bears are running for their lives. 😂 I really like her choice of a hot pink shirt. 👍🏼 I've seen to many yellow and orange jackets in landscape photos. The pink really worked as any other color I would have not notice her in the photo. 🏆
Definitely Adam is your visitor...10% good light is the max chance. As an owner of Emphysema and COPD i find your climbing skills very impressive :-) Some lovely compositions!
I really do hope that Grumpacious Maximus will be visiting........you do have a great relationship with him........and.....there is every chance that he will teach you some photography......
I can say I'm almost 60 and you really need to treasure every moment hiking up those hills while you can ... Ha!! ... Who am I kidding when I was in my 30s you wouldn't catch my fat ass up a mountain! Looking forward to the autumnal shots next week! 😃
As for the bear spray, it is a very good idea to have some means of self-defense when out shooting pics. I don't worry about wildlife. I an concerned about dogs and especially people. Here in the state of Georgia I have had some issues when hauling ~$3,000 - $6,000 worth of gear in remote areas. With all that heavy gear I ain't running, and I damn sure ain't dropping it and running. And that gear precludes me from any meaningful attempt to fight them off without dropping my gear. At Arabia Mountain Park I realized there was a sketchy guy following me at a distance and trying so hard to not be obvious, that it was obvious. Fortunately I know the area very well and lead him into an area of boulders, trees, and rock faces where I could duck from his sight, circle around and lose him before he even knew it. I then trucked down to the trailhead and called the Ranger. When the guy showed-up 2 Cops where waiting. Apparently they had heard of the guy and were looking for him. They took him away in cuffs! I alawys carry "gear" for just this sort of situation, but I hope to never have to use it.
Looked forward to seeing your weeks episode Gavin. This is better fun than handing the first wife her tea without any sugar in the middle of Coronation Street. Haha. I know content is a bugger to keep coming up with but the reality of it is harder than just pointing and clicking. Cant wait until next week now. Happy Days.
Another incredible episode Gavin and Amanda, LOL to the "Trouser Shouts" and that climb was totally worth it. I also dig your perspective on making those hikes now while you still can, living life to the fullest is the way to go mate. Can't wait till your next one.
Guessing it will be Grumpacious, which always makes for great viewing… BUT will that also mean he might make an appearance in Hardcastle Towers? Loving all the work, Gavin. To anyone reading this comment… On the odd occasion when a particular spot you’ve scouted has become overcrowded with fellow landscape photographers, has anyone ever cried, “Bear!” To shoo them away?
I'll never forget my first attempt at the hike. Absolutely stunning conditions walking up, complete heavy fog at the top to completely ruin it all hahaha. I swore I'd never do it again, but, we all know how that goes.
Great video and drone shots. Hope Amanda did well. I am 72 and recently hiked up a 10,000 foot mountain in Yellowstone. You’ve got to keep up Gavin to continue to Chase Awe ( I am sure you get my meaning)😁😁😁😁
What a spectacular vista! The composition you found was lovely. As for the visitor, Adam mentioned that you and he had a project in the works, but he's the obvious choice. I'm gonna guess Brent? Looking forward to the fall color next week!
Hmm. You and Grumpy were supposed to do a "Hardcastle & Gibbs" series this autumn, so my guess is, it's Adam. Peak foliage is almost over here in lower New York. I look forward to your upcoming videos! P.S. - I saw the eagle!
Great hike Gavin - and make sure Uncle Grumpton makes it up there too! It's certainly an epic pano location. When you've got time - head east from this location past the small islands and over to White Point. Some spectacular rock outcrops and a very easy 10 minute hike for the shots. Keep up the great work mate!
Damn, looks like I am going to have to by a drone Gavin, spectacular drone pano. To get that unique shot that stands out from the rest, great club to have in your bag.
Another great and enjoyable video from you Gav, I really thoroughly enjoyed this one! Am glad neither the hike, the mushrooms, the bears nor Amanda's potent bean gas killed you or hopefully your sense of adventure 😅 100% you should keep doing it while you can...and hopefully you will love it one day. I really didn't think you guys would make it to the top with any light left - good on you both for soldiering on. This wasn't about the destination, but the journey. As always, thanks for sharing! 👍
What a beautiful area, the pano's look great (even without the amazing light) Looking forward seeing uncle Grumpy, helping you out with the church renovation!!!
Pretty sure I know where you were on this spot and I remember an easy walk through the woods to get to the hilly part and then suffering through "rubber leg syndrome" for the last part that was MUCH steeper! There were four of us on the walk and all of were soaking wet with sweat at the top - but man, what a view! Enjoyed the video!
Thomas would have spent the night up there so he would be ready for the sunrise.🤣 On the other hand, I would have come down with you and Amanda and imagined what it must be like the next morning in that beautiful light. I climbed to the Chimney Tops in the Great Smoky Mountain NP one snowy winter day. When I got up to that elevation (over 4,000 ft I think) and rounded a corner in the trail there was an HFG blowing (howling ----k--- gale). It was snowing so hard I could barely see the outline of the rocky peak. I set up my tripod around the corner and set my camera settings in the shelter of the corner. Then I stepped around the corner, quickly placed the camera on the tripod and got the shot.... of blowing snow. Could barely see an outline of the peak in the picture. When I got back to the trailhead at the bottom it was just starting to snow there. So I set up my tripod and camera and started taking pictures of a mountain stream as snow accumulated on the rocks. Behind me I heard a voice say, "he's a solid sheet of ice". I didn't want to miss that so I turned around to see what they were talking about. They were looking at me. I looked at my goretex rain suit and I must have had a 1/4" of snow covered ice frozen all over that Goretex suit. Good trip.
Awesome capture! That looks like a tough hike but I am 69 & just working on ridge hikes & I constantly am out of breath. I just get there slower. So Gavin keep going.
So glad you explained about the Bear Spray, ever since I discovered your channel, I have been wondering just why you always carry a fire - extinguisher.....
Such a beautiful view! You may not have had the light you wanted, but it's still a lovely capture. The aerial pano, loved it. Look forward to seeing more from this location. I assume gumpacious will be visiting...
Hi fototripper, I love the work that you are doing. There was an incident in San Francisco, where a photographer while working on a wedding was beaten by two-armed gunmen and pistol-whipped. This photographer never let go of his camera gear and unfortunately, he took a beating. Two photography channels offered up a challenge for the Community with Channels to speak up on the safety and awareness of photographers and videographers alike. You are such a Photographer and Videographer. The two channels that are talking about this and offering this challenge are Vahagraphy and 247 Media Group. If you get time out of your busy schedule, check this out starting with Vahagraphy, who brought this out to the community on his channel and please make some noise about this on your channel as well as it threatens our art and it is often forgotten!!!
Good to hear you say why you push to make redonkulous climbs. You're right about the potential to loose that ability and it seems a reminder can be a good PSA . Just stay within your skill and ability level... Stunning view from the peak and the drone! Cool to see the bald eagle but he looked a touch over exposed😂 I hope we don't have to wait long for the foliage trip after that teaser👍
I've been meaning to start hiking, but erm, my appropriate footwear consists of sandals. I might actually look into the Vibrams one day and see if they offer the amount of protection and support needed for hiking. That might be a nice happy medium for me haha. Now, that view though...and teasing that golden glorious drone footage, was rather tasty. I live in Florida so it's either green or brown. I miss Eagle's Nest, Shenandoah Parkway (You want glorious rolling hills of fall deliciousness, oh my this is it), and Black Water falls during blackberry season. Those West Virginia Hills don't disappoint come fall, neither does Tennessee. Fall is my favorite time of the year. 😌
That was a cracker Hudders !!!!! Great tutorial on how to make the best in iffy light after all the upwards effort. Having Amanda in the pano helped greatly with scaling, and the drone footage was just outstanding. I learn something new EVERY vid - wikkid :)
What a beautiful view from the top, who cares if the light is not perfect. The efforts, the hike, the experience in general is what matters "for some of us" I think. The views in this video are stunning. Great job. (now I understand why you carried a bear spry while walking the streets of Lunenburg lol) Orlando.
I'm about to perish, oh the sky looks nice. 😆 so funny. I have felt that way when hiking before. Barely catching your breath and you think the sky looks incredible. 😄
Cracking video Gav, spotted the bald Eagle but I must say, I was out in Dunham forest (Manchester) today and spotted a pair of bald men !!!!!! Do I win ?

100%. I don't see any chance of conflict or drama at all...
My guess is His Grumpaciousness! Would be nice to see the boys back at it with some classic shenanigans 😁
It's Adam! YAY! I love it When You are With Adam!
Keep hiking as long as you can. Im 57 and never thought when I was 45 I would be unable to walk and have to get around in an eclectic wheelchair. Things go to shit fast so enjoy it

Well said.
Grumplestiltskin is coming to visit.
"trouser shouts" never gets old. Absolute belter 🤣🤣🤣
All mushrooms are edible at least once.
Twice actually. The first time, and the last time.

😂
😂
Many eateries I also visit twice at the same time.
On a serious note, fantastic work. What drone are you using?
ohh that does look like a tasty location... add it to the list 😲... the teaser for autumn looks savage ... can't wait
Too beautiful for words. I can't wait until Uncle Grumpy shows up in next week's vid.
I’m betting the visitor is your mentor, Adam. I’m sure he misses having you for an assistant.
Hi, the drone footage is beautiful and so is the drone shot. It is rare that you get that perfect light. So, I thought the moody sky and composition you took with your Sony is still nice.

What a beautiful part of the world. Love it.
The narration voice is so superb. Love youre vids and photography. Have a great new week !
That's quite the climb, wow...that had me winded just watching it! The next morning looked glorious.
Friend from out west, ridiculously stupid shenanigans. It can only be Uncle Grumpy. Beautiful pano by the way.
I can say I'm almost 60 and you really need to treasure every moment hiking up those hills while you can ... Ha!! ... Who am I kidding when I was in my 30s you wouldn't catch my fat ass up a mountain! Looking forward to the autumnal shots next week! 😃
Amanda is a legend hiking up mountains with you.

common Grumpton. You Know you want too. Miss you guys together. All
i would say Grumpy is showing 😄😄😄😄
What a stunning location. No mountains in my neck of the woods.
when working out if mushrooms are edible I stick with this "All Fungi are edible. Some fungi are only edible once.”: Terry Pratchett
Magenta and green. Some one's been studying the color wheel. Good eye on seeing that pano, and the aerial shots make me wanna go. Nice work!
Looked forward to seeing your weeks episode Gavin. This is better fun than handing the first wife her tea without any sugar in the middle of Coronation Street. Haha. That looks like one epic place to kayak!! Look at all those islands!

All I can say about that hike is better you, than me 😁. Nice shots!
Brilliant video mate and that hike/climb...wow, that looked tough but well done, cracking shot. ATB Marti 🤙

Excellent footage from the drone and a great view from the top ,Well worth the climb
Sounds like Grumpy is coming in for a visit..
Thank you for the episode! Your adventures are truly inspirational!

the last drone shot is the bomb! beautiful!!
Uncle Grumpy?
Love the pano with Amanda, even though you didn't get your lighting. The drone videos and photos are absolutely stunning. Wonderful work!
shenanigans, farting and photography! stunning images with the drone
Trouser shouts. I'm stealing that for my own use.

Looking forward seeing uncle Grumpy, helping you out with the church renovation!!!
Holy Mother of all that's good and photogenic. Those came out amazing. Can't wait to see who came to visit.
I spotted the first near bald eagle at around 0:04 - 0:05 seconds! What an amazing creature!
Hope it’s Grumpacious coming to visit.
Really great drone shots!!
Betcha Uncle Grumpy is doing a layover on his way to Spain.
A reflection really takes some beating for me. Love that aerial one.
Look forward to next week and the colours.
Such a great place!
is Uncle Grumpy visiting them? The morning Drone shots are fab :)
beautiful reflections indeed ! Can't wait to see the fall edition of this landscape. Cheers !
Noice, Grumpola on his way then ?
Magic from the G master! Deffo Adam, looking forward to BA and Murdock back together again! With you on the hiking. As always a belting video 😍👍

It is a wellness program with a photography benefits ...
Hi Gavin, from someone with zero access to any mountains, enjoy those views from the top! 🙂
Thank you!

Wow for the aerial photos.
Great stuff Gavin, what a shot at the end. Thanks for sharing.
You also need bear spray to fend off Sasquatches, a species very common on the East coast.
I hope the "landscapephotographer of the year" is on the stairs!!😂
Great stuff, looking forward to next week's episode 👍
Grumpton is coming🎉
Gorgeous drone shots at the end! Love Cape North 🙌🏻
Cracking video Gav, spotted the bald Eagle but I must say, I was out in Dunham forest (Manchester) today and spotted a pair of bald men !!!!!! Do I win ?
Sir Grump-a-LOT!!!!
Great drone footage and an awesome pano!!! 👏👏👏
They look a bit too much like death caps to me, but to be sure you’d need to check out their volvas!
