3:47 That transition back in to the intro. One of the absolute best tracks on the entire of the C64 game library. This game's soundtrack as a whole, is by far my absolute favourite on the C64. No contest. R.I.P. to both these awesome composers. They were ahead of their time, and taken before their time.
Unfortunately this tune is very underrated - far too underrated. Usually of LN1 only Level 1 ingame is known (but well deserved), and sometimes Level 2 ingame (also well deserved), but this one is often unfortunately forgotten. I always loved this track a lot :)
Anthony Lees, the composer of this wonderful SID tune died in August of 2016 due to a "traffiic incident" The news of his passing wasn't well known until June of 2018. Very sad news indeed. One of THE best C64 soundtracks ever created in colaboration with Ben Daglish. Anthony Lees. R.I.P
It's actually unknown who composed The Palace for The Last Ninja, although it was likely Ben Daglish since the music player of the tune was by him. Both Ben Daglish and Anthony Lees worked on their tunes individually, but The Palace is the only one where the artist is not entirely clear. According to the Lemon64 site: "Although the tune is credited to Anthony Lees since 2001 in HVSC, the music player of this tune is by Ben Daglish. Ben doesn't remember making this tune and also he has no idea how the tune ended up being in his player if it was made by Anthony Lees. It could be that the music was credited to Anthony Lees because Anthony claimed to have made 6 tunes for the game while actually 5 are made in his player. Since Anthony passed away, we can't verify it anymore and it will be a mystery who of the two actually made the tune." All of that said, RIP to both of these amazing artists.
Oh my God! I wish I can travel back to my childhood. The best c64 game with incredible music what fits perfectly to the whole environment. Never forget these wonderful old times!!
Gawd, the memories. Used to play this on my C64 with the datasette loader. It would take ages to load the levels but the music was so good I hardly noticed. I played hours upon end, often late at night (hoping not to wake my parents) and sometimes I would just load the game just to hear the music, not even playing the actual game. Pure bliss!
I was exactly the same... What an amazing game. The music though is something else. I recorded it from my TV headphone socket to a tape so I could listen to it on my Walkman! Now I can just pull it up on my phone anytime.
Absolutely AMAZING Soundtrack. I played this Game alot whne it was availible at the Time on C64 and Amiga 500. All the Songs from this Game are timeless GREAT! Why they never bring a Remake, with this great music? Btw, the gameplay was very hard...not so easy to move with the ninja too.
Anyone seen Ghosts of Tsushima that premiered at this year's E3 ? Imagine a remake of this game that looked and played similar to that, but with this music. It seems like System 3 are to remake it with some sort of tech demo in August.Fingers crossed.

I loved that, as well right at 4:02.

Good sound track but I still prefer most last ninja 2 sound tracks, especially central Park an the streets an the mansion

When that squishy snare drops it's so cool.. I will listen to this music for the rest of my life and I'm 50 now 🥷
I am there with you, bro. Will turn 50 in a few months. Will cherish my C64 days forever.
Same I was afraid when I was 6 years old that I wouldnt like this music as a grown up cause my parents hated it, now when I am 43 I still like it.

My childhood right there, awesome game with a quality soundtrack!
I love this. Very catchy sounding with empasis on the importance the ninja is in the palace stronghold. BRILLIAN STUFF.
I keep on coming back to this video, simply because it is THE most badass c64 song ever made.

Nostalgia aside...legit powerful tune
one of the best in this OST...love it
