You cannot comment just looking at Colombo and Tamils living as a minority in Sinhalese areas. The authorities largely want to paint a rosy picture, in these areas, especially around Colombo, The actual Sri Lankan Tamils largely live in the north and east of the island and the ones living around Colombo, the hill country and south are largely Indian origin Tamils or Muslim Tamils called Moors, who are all recent immigrants from South India. You can tell from their Tamil dialect, accents and even at times looks. Actual Sri Lankan Tamil or Eelavam spoken in the north and east is very different, it is much purer, more archaic and closer to old/middle Tamil.
In Sri lanka legends are not disturb by the fans....Even when they are appear in public no one is going to disturb their personal life...

His ancestral home is in Kandy its a big old house, and I know where his house in colombo, its in a suburb called Kalalgoda a bit further away from Colombo....Not many people even know he lives here cos he keeps things very private so I wont disclose the location...It is a small lane leading to a couple of houses and the house is surrounded by beautiful green paddy fields, you cant see much from outside but im sure its a proper mansion from inside...But unlike in India in Sri Lanka people dont bother cricket stars even when we meet them in public we just respect their privacy, which is what it should be in India too cos end of the way they are like us just normal humans doing their profession

Do visit the site of Ravana's place ( anuradha pura ) and Ashok vaatika ( Nuwareliya ) [ The place where Sita maa was imprisoned by Ravana . There are the footprints of Hanuman ji The place where he spoke to Sita maa as Rama's messenger , There are also sita maa's tear river . We have been there twice during our Sri Lanka tour .
