Squid game vibes but this one is so psychologically messed up. I love it. Really focuses on human nature and hierarchy
yeah the psychological aspects are much better explored in this show, while the social aspects were better explored in squid game

wow.. watched it in one day. went in with no info about it or expectations. this is by far the most intense and emotional show I have ever seen. you were doubting yourself and everyone else. If you haven't seen it yet be warned it's a very dark show but the way this is filmed and written is beautiful along with the actors who all did an amazing job. you will 100% bite your nails during this. This will be forever be one of the best shows I have ever seen.

Oh and Alice in Borderland was released first back in 2020, and that didn't gain popularity until squid game. I remember seeing Squid Game and thought that it is the same genre as Alice in Borderland. But as you may guess.. they're the same genre with entirely different storyline. Problem is people see it and immediately think it is just a squid game rip off. Tbh I also thought the same until I gave it a shot and watched it. Honestly, this show is more messed up than Squid Game

Squid games is a light korean rippoff of Kaiji (japanese). kaiji is a lot more messed up & dark
An overlooked genius factor of the show is that we, as the audience, mimic the role of the fictional people that run the game. Everytime an interesting event makes them decide to extended the time, is also a moment where our excitement increases.
Thinking about this, can lead to reflect on yourself.

@@king8717 umm let's see...7th floor- the smart guy- when he was out in the real world he was talking to this other "smart" guy, lol at first I was like "ohmygod, 7 is a mole!!" but then I think it turned out that he was just a failed scriptwriter, lol ain't that always the way?? At the end he was the only one who didn't turn up for the funeral- I like to think he's out travelling the world somewhere, writing the next great screenplay😂😊

This beautiful and touching story with a touch of fantasy is not within everyone’s reach because it is necessary to think to understand this puzzle and therefore to let oneself be carried away by the past time that leaves irreversible traces on human beings. What time tells is full of subtlety, humanity and intelligence with a dream casting ! It is true that I love Han ji-mi since One spring night she never disappoints me. Radiant the other name of this drama remains one of my k-dramas that I like to revisit and will remain in my heart that is certain 🫰

Similar vibes to squid game. But markedly different. No front man, no armed minions as enforcers; no death, in fact any death would finish the game. Every rule and rationale is left at the hands of the players.
And that’s what made this show great and grotesque at the same time. The way people behave as soon as a hierarchy is established, the inevitability of human nature. It’s all too familiar. Something we see in a toned down version in our own lives everyday, everywhere.
Absolute must watch.

@@neospindrift where exactly are you going with this? people have been blown away by korean cinematography for 2 decades now, i thought it's already common knowledge by now. korean cinematography is widely known for being on a different level, anyone who has a passion for good cinema will tell you this. also, more and more people are starting to find out that korean tv-shows are equally cinematic, showcasing a level of cinematography that's on par with the greatest films out there.

No games like Squid Game or Alice in Borderland. No one has to die or need to be violent to another to survive. Truly one of the most horrific shows i've seen. Characters 8 and 6. My goodness.....I don't think I've ever been more pissed. Those 2 show the true depravity of humanity. I cannot see an ounce of reason or humanity in those two characters. haha

Very underrated show, it's definitely bingeworthy. Very good one! If you liked Squid game and Alice on Borderland you'll love this, this one is absolutely more complex than the others.

Just finished the show after a few days, all I can say is this is a masterpiece. 9.5/10.
I just finished binge-watching this show, and it was sooo goood!! I don't get why it didn't receive as much attention as I would expect from it. Haven't read it anywhere else, I just randomly found it while searching for a show to watch. But damnn, it didn't disappoint me! At first, I thought it would be just like squid games, but it was something else! It reminded me of Money Game (kinda based from it) and the Spanish film "The Platform". Love the message about hierarchy and stuff. It's something we can all relate to somehow and can see in real life.. Hope to see season 2 very soon!!!

There are many thriller/horror shows in my playlist for Netflix to watch but I likes most are Korean/Japanese thriller/horror show over American and Europe. I already watched many thriller/horror shows in Netflix that I was currently watching Korean show goodbye earth for past 20 days and I can't even finished it till now because it's boring so I watch 1 episode a day. Yesterday suprisingly I opened Netflix and found this show in suggestion at first I taught this shouldn't be another parody reality show like they made out of squid game in Netflix but it was real show and i binged watch it all in 4 - 5 hrs.
I just hope Netflix keep bringing more exciting survival games shows or psychological thriller shows or horror shows.

Overall, this show didn't completely blow me away, but the stellar cast called for an exemplary performance within this tight contained space where they're forced to play games in. Not the kind of games that need physical execution-it's all in the mind. However there could've been more scenes depicting the characters' growth and backgrounds. We got so little of them and I don't think it was enough to make me root for all of them. It kinda felt empty almost. Not like Squid Game where everyone is pining for one specific contestant. But fhe cinematography is polished. You can actually tell it took years of refinement just to get the right angle per scene. When you're flipped upside down, right side up, or standing up and sitting down, the camera points to whatever direction it needs to go. Anyway, this felt satirical. Not much to go on, but more like a mental asylum for people with broad minds and fixations for massive fortune.
it's a tour de force from start to finish, if it doesn't top the netflix charts for at least a week i'll lose faith in humanity

This show made me so mad that I almost switched it off. Very frustrating in some parts and the injustice portrayed made my blood boil like never before.
Im still mad that floor 8 didnt get a taste of her own medicine from the lower floors. In the end she did get a little karma, but not enough to make it satisfying, imo.
I also didnt understand why they let floor 8 get away with locking herself in and withholding food and water, blackmailing everyone. They could have broken down her damn door. I didnt get why they would do nothing Consequently, a hierarchy was established because she and the freaking thug saw they could get away with oppressing the lower floors.
F8 doesn't get a punishment because show tries to symbolize real life. They dont try to make it satisfying.

That was already hinted at the earlier episodes. Number 7 said they should start with something light and avoid anything violence. He knew there is nothing more entertaining than head on gore. I knew it was going to reach that point one way or the other.

I really have to disagree with all the positive reviews in the comments here. Sure the first few episodes were great, but from the middle to the end it was just pure chaos and the show had some major plot holes. When the lower few agreed to end the show they just had to buy their way out instead of floor 2 locking them into their rooms. The rules were also so unclear. At some point you could buy stuff with the money from other people (which is fine) but it was never really used instead of that one time when they were buying alcohol??? Couldnt they just buy another room with the money from floor 8? So they just go upstairs and buy floor 7 or so for floor 1 instead of him killing himself? Floor 2 also agreed to give him the money he needed to save his daughter but somehow that wasnt an option for him?
Then the plan when all were held awake and got tortured...floor 4 literally said that floor 8 would lay her weapon aside as she takes her bath - then why not take the gun, force her to tie up herself and free the other ones; no, lets do the most risky plan and nearly die.
Anothother stupid thing which was wayyy to big of a topic was the "shit"-part. Why store all of the shit bags in one room instead of buying a toilet for the main hall and some vacuum bags and pump that it doesnt smell?
Floor 5 was just delusional for 80% of the show freeing floor 6 who is clearly a psychopath and the general decision making was just like in a bad horror movie where they all agree to split up in the first 5 minutes.

Agree for the most part, except floor 1 said it himself that he got greedy and wanted to change the room. At least it was so much better than floor 5 freeing the worst people that get them tortured in the first place.

i might have just finished watching my best kdrama of 2024. i loved the show’s plot a lot. it truly depicted how money can be the root of all evil.

A mix between "Squid Game" and "The Platform", but which ends up being better than both combined. It really shows the best and the worst of what humanity has to offer. It's very good to watch and very entertaining (I watched it all in a day, staying up until 3 AM lol). But it's also objectively good, with creative cinematography, great actors, etc... We usually are desensitized to death because of the shows like "Squid Game" and "Alice in Borderland", but this series, while it doesn't really involve death, still manages to hit hard and convey its message almost perfectly.
All the people I've recommended this to liked it, it truly deserves way more popularity and is the best show of 2024 yet imo. I went in with no expectations, but was more than pleasantly surprised. I'd give this show a 10/10 for my standards, and I'd recommend it to anyone as long as they are ready to see some depictions of violence, which are not necessarily brutal in terms of gore aspect, but hit hard psychologically.

Episode 7 was by far the best episode but man that ending was pretty damn depressing. This show did something that no other show has done for me, it built a surreal sense of connection to the characters the plot and the characters pasts and reasonings and also highlighted what money can do to a humans psyche and how it can contort and confuse the human mind and how money can create demons, something that you normally don't see in shows or society at all as they try to hide what people truly stride for in life. I hope the person that made this is okay in the head or hasn't gone through experiences such as this because just watching this had me disgusted at some parts, an all around masterpiece though. Kudos

I was surprised at the setting in the show, because its literally an the opposite color atmosphere than the webtoon. In the show its colorful , has plenty of space, has activities like the pool and playground, and their clothing is unique. In the webtoon its main colors are grey and dull, rooms are super empty and smaller. The webtoon's art style does a good job is making you uneasy because of the thought of living in empty concrete rooms with no bathrooms and wonder what the characters will do to spend their time & money in such an empty space. While the show's colorful and playfulness looks uncanny and with the idea that its hiding the dark nature that's gonna happen.
I read both money game and pie game, and I think pie game (the game the show is mainly on) is a lot better at storytelling and shows a lot more interesting decisions from characters than Money Game!

I also noticed how there is 8 players in the showwhile there was 7 players in the Pie game webtoon! Oh I cant to see what the extra character is like and how they suit into the hierarchy themes

I finished the show a few days ago and i gonna say i liked it a lot! I love the characters so much , my fav is 8F and 1F. I could make a whole thread about the differences or references i noticed from the webtoon. Their personalities are well written and the aesthetics are beautiful. One of my favorite things about the show is that we got to learn/see more about the characters background, and that there was an prologue and epilogue, which was something the webtoon didn’t do a lot (they kept it ambiguous) .
Though i understand there are some plot hole questions like “why dont they use the bathroom in the square?”, i dont know if they forgot to mention it, but in the webtoon there was a rule that they are not allowed to make the common area dirty or along the lines of that (hopefully my memory serves me right).
Also i hate people comparing this to squid game because its a game-style drama. Though i can see the aesthetic being inspired by it, the concept was NEVER inspired by squid game. IT IS ITS OWN THING. THEY ARE DIFFERENT SHOWS.

People who don't like this or can't finish it probably don't like slow burn and frustrating stuff because i can guarantee that this show is not for the weak (psychologically). Finished binge watch in 2 days, i could only say that if u have high blood pressure just don't watch it lol because this is some deep psychological sh*t. Welp but i enjoyed it 😹👍🏻
