Some items are just too awesome to use. Hope you enjoy this J-pop-style bop based on Final Fantasy III/VI!
"I am out of MP"
"Then use an Ether"
"But you can't buy Ether!"
"IT'S THE FINAL BATTLE!"
But I only have 85 of them!
But what if i need it in the postgame??
“This is a final fantasy! There is no postgame!”
@@Stachebro12 my bad i havent played any of the games 😅
@@RubbeUhh oh I was just continuing the joke, no problem
As a child: "I can't use my Megalixir, what if I need it later?!"
As an adult: "I won't use my Megalixir, I DON'T NEED IT >:( "
🧽 “I don’t need it… I don’t need it… I _definitely_ don’t need it…”
The final boss knew the Megalixir was in his tower. He knew. He left it there on purpose. For the psychological damage.
yes, I believe you @nin10doadict
Thats devilishly in character for Kefka
Kefka really is The Joker
He was just saving it for a real emergency
E-mo-tion-al Dam-age!!
“What if there’s an emergency?”
“If you don’t use it now you’ll die!”
“What if there’s a _BIGGER_ emergency???”
A family member just linked this to me and said "this song is about you" and the song started and she found the mega elixir and I was like "oh she should hold onto that, she might need it later!" and now the song has ended and I feel especially called out lol
I would like to see a game where the end boss can steal your unused megalixir to fully heal before dying.
The Kingdom Hearts 3 secret boss does this. Runs can die on the spot if you don't properly dodge its item stealing attacks.
That's dang EVIL... 😢
Persona 3 the final boss can brainwash your companions and have them cast healing spells on him.
Some of your companions have *full heals*.
On a boss that has twelve phases, takes nearly an hour to fight, and changes his strengths and weaknesses every turn.
And also your team is completely AI controlled and doesn't do what you want them to.
@@gusgarrison9211wait which boss
@@supercamborg4218 The boss of the Secret Episode in the Re:Mind DLC. I'm not naming it because it's a spoiler, but I will proudly boast that I beat it damageless. Still haven't beaten Lingering Will in KH2 though LOL
Terra's increasingly gollum-esque facial expressions bring my soul joy
I’m thinking Bulma from Dragon Ball at her most manic. :P
"But... we need to trade it in to fight Siegfried in the Colosseum."
*Terra then proceeded to death glare her entire team*
I swear one of these days a boss is going to put a valuable one of a kind last resort healing item in his final dungeon, only for it to really just be a fancy bottle of water as a prank.
You've given me an idea!
I had a friend back when we were kids and he used to give me all of these video game lies. One of the smaller ones was from Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door.
He told me that if you bought an Ultra Shroom (best healing item at 50 HP) from a salesman during the side quest bonus gauntlet known as the 'Pit of A Hundred Trials' there was a coin-flip chance that upon using it, the shroom would reveal itself to be a dried shroom and only heal you 1 HP
Who needs to go on a personal journey involving protecting orphaned children when opening one chest will show the true meaning of love?
I don't know when was the last time I spent a Master Ball, and I've played almost every main Pokémon game for over a decade now. I feel you, sis.
There was some point as a kid where it dawned on me that items were put in to be used. I never felt so overpowered in my life, actually deciding to use the good stuff
Honest mood on hoarding items. I am completely called out.
I've never been personally attacked in song before now.
If my enormous pile of arrows, grenades, and potions in BG3 has taught me anything, it's that hoarding in RPGs is eternal.
Ff5 chemist lets you combine potions and phoenix downs to be arise with full mp (no idea why phoenix down is more versatile than anything than when they're alive) so we hoard more with mix lol just get a fandom or chart page for the offensive stuff and cheap hp and mp healing.
NGL I spammed the shit out of explosive arrows
I have no doubt that this AU's Kefka finds it absolutely hilarious that the heroes lost because Terra refused to use her Megalixr
That's why she has Life 3, Life 2, and the Magic Box to take care of silly problems like team wiping.
Omg the Kefka leitmotif was insane
I remember that in Bravely Default and Bravely Second, there are journal entries for every item in the game. Some of them are really funny, like the Enopu Mushroom ("Enopu" as an anagram for "One-up") mentioning a heroic plumber who used the mushrooms to restore himself from near-death by overworking himself. It says that although that plumber never performed acts of derring-do, like saving a princess, he near singlehandedly built the entire sewer system of a country.
Well, the entry for Megalixir says that it was revered, and even worshipped in ancient times. I hadn't played much Final Fantasy yet, but in the years since, when I became more familiar... yeah, heh heh.
Hey, at least I did use them when I was facing unusually hard bosses, and a couple of times during final boss battles. So that makes me feel better.
What I'd give for a BD port. Favorite JRPG soundtrack of all time.
@@belot217 Yes, that soundtrack is amazing! The "Cave" theme, the battle theme, the special move songs, the theme when you're flying in Grandship, the Asterisk holder battle theme (I think that one is titled "That Person's Name Is"), and one of the most epic final boss themes I have ever heard.
I remember once trying to download the soundtrack on iTunes, but it was only for sale in Japan. I should find some other way to download it. (I'll even strive to do it legally.) Because that is a musical score I could use more of in my life.
Unless it's past the point of no return or a superboss, I can't imagine using a megalixir.
@LamanKnight, you are a wiser adventurer than me, and apparently the 99% of gamers in whose greedy company I keep.
The cutest Terra I've ever seen!
I believe you mean cutest Mrs. Megalixir you’ve ever seen…
You may be asking “why aren’t you using your Megalixer?”
The answer is simple: professionals have standards.
Be polite (when you decline to save your allies with that limited-use item).
Be efficient (with potions you can't buy anywhere).
Have a plan to save up every megalixir you find.
I like that this song can also double as a callout/ diss track.
If you can't buy it, you can't use it
Kefka watching this: That's one QUICK descent into madness! And I should know!! 8D
2:00 someone just give cyan a hug please
His shell shocked expression is my absolute favorite part of the video. Poor guy! 💔
Terra: *has a journey of self-discovery, purpose, and the value of life, facing many trials and depressions across her quest.*
Megalixir: *exists*
Terra: 🤯
I think this is the most love FF VI has been shown in decades x)
Love how you draw the FF VI cast
Quite possibly the best one yet! And the only reason it's close is because it's up against the all-time classic that is "Ode to the Minions".
... I'm picking up the ff6 pixel remaster because of this song. Been a while since my last playthrough, this is exactly the motivation I needed, apparently.
Remember to pour a megalixir out for the homies.
Honestly, same - I’ve tried and bounced off a couple times, but this song and bravely default got me to pick up the remaster and I’m having a ton of fun!
I have never been so delightfully called out. XD
I like how Edgar has his Chainsaw out because that's pretty much his iconic weapon at this point.
I've found that megalixir back in '94 and I'm still not gonna use it yet, I still might need it later
“Better to have, and not need, than to need, and not have.” - Franz Kafka
Well this quote sent me down a bit of a rabbit hole since I had it a bit different and attributing someone else, then found the Kafka version and now I'm not even sure whether or not he even said it
More like Kefka, wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeey
Happy 30th anniversary, Final Fantasy VI! (or 3) Kinda wish I timed this video slightly later to coincide with it, but no biggie.
The art in this video is such a treat to look at.
Can't wait until the next time I play a Square game and get a Megalixir for this song to get stuck in my head all over again
I haven't heard of Matthew Taranto since Brawl in the Family. Glad to have you back!
Oh the man has been busy this whole time... and most of it is waluigi related😂
@@quickriffs9601 That is beautifully fitting!
Amazing!! What a catchy song! I adored the vocals as well, kudos to Taylor!
Ms. Megalixir has been best girl since 1994, and will always be until the end of time!
Love how you incorporated the OG FF major 7 chord as a base for the song. I loved your work for so long, never stop doing these!
I could've sworn I've heard Taylor in other projects! Anything else she's done?
It's a really catchy tune. Well done!
Thanks! I don't think Taylor has much of an online presence; she's more of a family friend and fellow coworker/singer when I do services. But it's possible she's done other projects online that I don't know about.
Can a game even be considered an RPG if it doesn't make you want to hoard items "just in case"?
This is what RPGs taught me when I was a kid: how to be frugal!
This is way too relatable lol
This song gives me major Avenue Q vibes (minus the adult rating), absolutely love it!
My FFVI and item hoarding heart loves this!
this touches my ffvi-lovin' heart
Megalixir? This is how I treat Potions to this day ffs!
This portmanteau of “mega” and “elixir” has Ted Woolsey written all over it and sure enough, it first appeared in Final Fantasy VI with the original Japanese name translating to Last Elixir. Now I don’t say that as a bad thing since the wordplay is actually pretty good.
I wasn’t expecting to see final fantasy six on your channel let alone a song. Great video with funny visuals.
Now I want to do a challenge run of an RPG where any time I find an item I immediately use it in the following battle.
I kind of lost track of what you've been up to since BitF, so I'm just glad to see you're still out here creating as great as ever. Keep it up!
Dang I'm playing FF VI for the first time rn. Guess I'll have to come back in a bit.
OH HEY IT'S THE BitF GUY! Great to see you're still making stuff!
happy 30th anniversary final fantasy 6!!!(glad you finally did one of this game. :3)
love terra getting more more unhinged in love with the megalixir even after getting killed at the end.(her poor team though.)
This is how I play most RPGs
I love the fact that you can reproduce all the sound effects yourself. Did you have to look any of them up as a reminder?
Just a couple to get them more accurate--this game's pretty much burned into my memory by now!
I love the rhyming in the lyrics.
When writing them, it can happen naturally. Other times, you're thinking "what rhymes with this word?" XD
I've been playing all the Final Fantasy games chronologically recently, and item hoarding wasn't always a problem. Elixers, for instance, used to be buyable. They could get expensive, but they were easily reaquirable so when you needed one you could and would just use it. After they took them out of the shops and made them rate finds suddenly it's a much bigger deal.
Oh, this hits on a spiritual level. This is brilliant.
If I could win without it, it wasn't an emergency
Perfection. FF6 doesn't get nearly enough love.
And then you use the megalixir only to find a rest point immediately after.
Can relate sooooo much. Love the song!
_(Mrs. Megalixir’s ghost still carrying an item)_
“If I go down, I’m taking you with me, Megalixir!”
Can't go wrong with having them for Back up
Well this was just delightful
This speaks to my life experience.
I definitely feel called out, but I swear there's never quite a good moment to use them in my experience. Fantastic music, of course. This was a fun video to watch or listen.
Kefka: And the call ME crazy!
I feel so called out, musically. This both makes me very sad but also impressed.
Still holding on to mine! These things don't have expiration dates, right?
Gau would drink it. He wouldn't understand the value of it, and assume it's a tasty soda.
I definitely have this problem.
That said, if you're at the final boss, there's no reason to hold back at that point.
I make a point to spam one-use items just to make sure I do actually use them…90% of them time they’re mid, the other 10% they completely trivialize a boss
It's funny, I used to never use my limited items. But I've beaten so many game's without using them that I just now actually use them. It's weird, I realized if I never actually need them down the line, I might as well use them.
This was awesome. And so true. Always holding on to items for just in case, only to be too strong to need it by the end of the game. If you can't buy more, I'm very unlikely to use an item. It's why I hate games with item durability.
……this is amazing. Well done
This is both horrendously out-of-character for Tina and also unforgivably cute.
She's definitely much more reserved and pensive in the game, but she's meant to be a representation (and exaggeration) of the player here.
Very cute! I really liked this
1:58 Poor Cyan can never catch a break.
Lets go, love bitmusical, keep up the good work
Always amazing
Kefka also has one too.
I'll be honest. I never really used Megalixirs in FF6. Even when I got slammed with Heartless Angel, it was an easy Curaga all to heal everyone and then Osmose when necessary.
great song
I feel called out
Since this song's release, it drove me MAD trying to figure out what the main melody made me think of because it sounded so familiar....
I think I finally got it! Pure coincidence I'm sure, but it makes me think of the Dentist Song from the Rick Moranis version of Little Shop of Horrors.
That's not knocking it. This one has been a banger since release.
Hah, it does have some structural similarity to the refrain!
I love it!
This is so cute!
when i played ff7r i hoarded all my good healing items until the end of the game, used one on the final boss, and then found out you can't use items in hard mode leaving me with like 10 or 20 worthless elixirs and turbo-ethers stashed in my inventory. so i can relate to this song a little
I had the opposite problem during my FF 15 playthrough. I couldn't get _enough_ recovery items because someone thought it'd be funny to make a magic system where you *don't have healing spells.*
Wonderful!
Old school Final Fantasy taught me a bad habit and now i can't undo the trauma.
Just load up the old save file; I might need this later!
999 diamonds in TOTK… half of them I don’t know what to do with
Also it would have been more ironic if the "can't take it with you" and her ghost floats away, Kefka takes the Megalixir from her corpse and drink it.
What did i expect XD
I hoard every medi pack in tomb raider games as well and then when i am at the end i think to myself what the hell is wrong with me XD
Kefka: Geez, Terra and people say I'm the crazy one!
I was epecting to be personally attack but since I don't play FF or RPGs all that much.... it just felt "um" (I can't relate)
Still catchy song and beautiful singing voice by the way.
Bravo!!!
As a lifelong item hoarder, I used my first ever Megalixer on my playthru of the Pixel Remasters, (not counting abusing the W-Item glitch in VII), which was probably my cumulative 1000th playthrough of a Final Fantasy game. My soul was finally free.
This song is hilariously accurate.
Coco hits Mrs. Megalixier with confuse. Out of confusion, she uses it on the Cocos, causing your party to lose. Game Over!
BRAVO!
