MIKE BATT DOES'NT HAVE TO APOLOGIZE FOR HIS VOICE--- THE MAN IS A GENIUS , he has given the world something priceless----for which art gar. agnetha of ABBA and katie are eternally thankful..........
I only agree with the first sentence. But the lyrics only make sense from her mouth, who was about 19 or 20 years young, when she sang that song first. And it also fits her vocal range better, from my point of view.
Chapeau, Maestro!
I was there, a great show, a nervousness in Mike's voice - I liked that also I think it was Only a Winters Tale he stopped the song after the first line all so and he asked to be reminded of the next lines - something that you will only perhaps get at a real and very good show.
Respect to Art Garfunkel voice talent But this man has a great voice who composed bright eyes performed by Garfunkel ,,, Mike's voice I think is fitted to bright eyes too
the first version i ever head was the katy melua version so, naturally, her version i would love the best. however, it was mike batt who composed this beautiful song. maybe they should have entered it for that Eurobore song contest. god, if the eurovision song contest were a horse, it would have been put down a long time ago. still, if it had been entered, it wouldhave won, surelly? then it wouldhave been a world wide hit. NATURALLY.
you're right - but it's HIS song, he wrote it and yes, his voice is not the best, but you should respect this genious man - so many timeless songs he's written!
He wrote it, he has the right to sing it. Stop being so critical, people.
I love Mike singing his own masterpiece .
Mike Batt is a genius
I think it's even more touching when sung from an aged soul.
Beautiful, just beautiful, Thank you Mike Batt.

I think it’s great to hear Mike Batt singing this song seeing as he wrote it. Mind you, Katie Melua is terrific too.
One of the most beautiful songs composed...Beautifully sung and beautifully executed.....
Oh my God. No one is better as Mike Batt. I love him and his voice so much.
@@bigteddy66 he sang it first before he signed Katie to his label.
A genius at his best
one master songwriter - brilliant - could listen to his songs for hours on end
Take my hat off to this guy,,,its his piece. Melua begged him for this song. he makes all the bread.
He's a great songwriter and he had the wisdom to give it to someone else. But his own version has its own charm too.

@@koeniglicher you can't say that, the words are his. And he sings it perfectly, beautifully.
@@koeniglicherWell i don't think he composed it specifically for her. I think it was meant for a stage Musical.
A masterpiece in many ways.
Writing the song is just as good as bring it to life beautifully, both roles are vital and amazing. They are both artists.
Mike!!!! Master!! big hug!! that's so beautiful!!!
Beautiful honestly in these lyrics.
he is a big part of katie's music and creativity and I appreciate him so much...amazing guy ! :)
Love this......

I really liked this, warts and all. ;-) As Wagner said "From the heart, to the heart".
Rather beautiful.
Love it. I'd love to hear you and Katie do it together, too!
had planned to go and see that concert, but i became ill, so this makes it up, a bit ... thanks
LOVE!!!XXXX
For the longest time, I thought Katie Melua's version of this song couldn't be touched, but I'm beginning to rethink that.
I was there, a great show, a nervousness in Mike's voice - I liked that also I think it was Only a Winters Tale he stopped the song after the first line all so and he asked to be reminded of the next lines - something that you will only perhaps get at a real and very good show.
My goodness, did he write that too? I keep finding out that Mike wrote all my favourite songs.
Im crying here :(

Such a talented writer , how come never reached stardom as singer ?.
This is lovely. I didn't know Mr B wrote it.
What a song! Coverable by any singer after a classic, if he lets them of course. A long way from The Wombles too, sorry X
Close your eyes and imagne it's The Wombles singing this!
Just listen to them singing Madame Cholet. Another beautiful song.

Ganz großer Klassiker.

This is the reason why audio players have repeat buttons.....

Good idea to cover it, but please sing "seventeeeeeeeeen".
I wonder who she is. Not a name, a personality. I wonder about the experience he had and the interaction
Good point.

Katie sings much-much better, but lyrics is amazingly great!
you're right - but it's HIS song, he wrote it and yes, his voice is not the best, but you should respect this genious man - so many timeless songs he's written!
katie melua performs his songs as good as him :)

You're wrong.
Great song! Great songwriter! But this song has to be sung by Katie!
Take a sad song, and make it better.
Oops, a bit off sometimes, but great lyrics!
It’s a live performance. What singer doesn’t go off key a bit when genuinely singing live?
