One of the really useful things about Hammer's commentary is that he speaks so slowly and clearly, it is possible to play the tournaments at one-and-a-half speed and still understand everything he is saying. Of course, once Anna comes on at the end, the speed has to be put back to normal.
I really enjoyed coverage. It's fun to really follow a few games as the general coverage sometimes made my head spin, switching between a hundred boards..
Just watched an interview with Pia. She said that she always plays for the fun and doesn't really focus on the scores in the tournament. I think that is a very sound attitude to avoid stress and pressure paralyzing you. I once talked to a famous musician, asking how he could play so well. He said "Don't take yourself too seriously. enjoy what you do".
Pia continues to show the younger generation how it is done. She was the only team member to play higher than her rating. Hopefully we get to hear what the fuss was in terms of Pia’s game.
Pia didn’t want to claim a draw for her team but knew retreating the Queen probably loses the game. The Mongolian was trying to force her to retreat the Queen or take a draw which high probability ensures her team wins with already one win. Team tactics in chess.
Retreating the Queen to b6 would not result in the loss per se, but the white position was very solid and Pia could not find any plan to make real progress, and also she had less time on her clock than her opponent.
I have been following your olympiad both on twitch live and on replay here. It had been such a treat to have Hammer commentating. It was both enjoyable and such a great learning opportunity for us viewers. There were some tricky games and opponents but I feel like you did play very well in many games. My favourite moment was the 10th round when you were playing next to your mom it was touching to see you both in the same posture while concentrating and Pia looked so happy and proud when you won 😊
I so enjoyed watching these games! Great job Anna and team! I loved the commentary from Hammer, and thank you Anna, for inspiring me to play chess again. 🤗
Anna, I am charmed of your diverse chess views and enjoy watching your battles in the global chess world. It’s so cool!Regardless of achieving victory or consent to a draw, defeat. It’s Experience. Unic Experience.
Great play to start, especially as Black; totally spoilt by time trouble blunders. Felt sorry for Hammer trying to commentate when time trouble approaches
Hammer said it’s better to make a bad move than to run down the clock. If you see the time trouble as being worse than a bad move, then shouldn’t be so afraid of moving faster. Not sure if I said it well, but think this is the key to making that breakthrough.
The argument is the position was extremely complicated, and it was amazing that Anna could even play difficult top engine consecutively. Just one bad move and her position got even more complex. It is always easy for the spectators to point out mistakes and how to correct them.
It’s been exciting to watch Anna improve and grow alongside her GM mother Pia in the Olympiad! Sorry to see it end but Anna will come back stronger next time.
You show a lot of potential Anna. I hope you see that because everyone else does. It does not matter who your parents are, who is watching, who you are playing, as long as you try your best (which you did). You are always learning so you will inevitably move forward if you keep it up.
I mean I've never seen an even remotely proper handshake in chess. I'm new to watching but it doesn't seem to matter who is playing, it seems like they are competing to see who can touch hands in the most limp manner possible. They clearly all hate shaking hands.
FIDE will allow chess players to change countries bc it’s a way to for them to make money and puts more money in the game that struggles for money and interest for chess more than a hobby level. The women Ireland coach is an Ukraine refugee and probably not allowed to take Irish citizen spot on team per their countries rules. Magnus would represent Saudi Arabia and spoken openly his “respect “ for King of Saudi Arabia in past interviews would glad accept a “white washing check” like American golfers did if offered.China is very protective about information no matter the subject.
Proud of how you find all these incredible moves despite the end result…..your game has improved so much. I hope your mum is fine. Much love to you and your loved ones ❤😊❤
Hi Anna. Thanks for letting us share the journey. Unlucky today but with the black pieces you got onto a strong position against a higher rated opponent. Good Luck with your next project. Onwards and upwards!
Just like the Paraguay game you had no mid game attack (you need more than just to force Queen trade) against your younger, less experienced opponent who just counter attacked with a two move Queen causing you to fall apart with no plan or time to play positional chess. The 15 minute for obvious move to retreat bishop and the 40 minutes long calculation early in game was just fatal flaws to your game that need analysis of your thought process in these situations bc they keep happening. Computers and theory have eliminated a long calculation in a chess game. Your mother has been able to adjust bc she is human chess computer with all her training and high level experience but you cannot replicate this.( she also gets into time trouble against elite opponents like today). You have to memorize and gain experience application all open theory in today’s chess. On a positive note, I do see improvement in your game while it’s only going to get worse before it gets better as you work on your flaws hopefully with Hammer.
Isn’t it always the same with Anna, she does very well in the opening, gets to a middle game with chances but then collapses under time pressure and just relying too much on opening prep? If you listen to her interviews, it’s like a broken record. She’s still a fantastic player but her use of time is one of the poorest I’ve seen at her level. She needs some serious help with time management-because her play is strong.
I really don't need or like some guy in the corner explaining his opinion of what Anna SHOULD do or MIGHT do. If he's so darn smart why is he talking and Anna is playing?
Maybe everyone will disagree with me but I actually can't stand his so-called 'commentary' which 90% of the time is answering irrelevant questions from the chat while ignoring the games he's supposed to be analyzing
@@huubdols4759 He’s Norwegian; they aren’t known to be overly joyful or expressive. Anna talks a lot and very quickly. If he never cuts her off, he’d never get a chance to speak.
I too loved Hammers commentary. I will miss that.

Really enjoyed watching this through the event, thanks to Hammer for the great commentary!
I enjoyed watching every round of the Olympiad series! Hammer's commentary is excellent

Thanks for the games team Sweden and thanks for the interesting commentary Hammer.😃
Yes have enjoyed this event
Hammer...Hastings is on the South Coast and has a very mild climate. Norway is the crap weather place you are thinking of
Levy and Pia should do an alternating simul exhbition!
Thanks Hammer
It’s been exciting to watch Anna improve and grow alongside her GM mother Pia in the Olympiad! Sorry to see it end but Anna will come back stronger next time.
Exiting !? 😅
Generally Anna loses rating each tournament, I think she will bottom out sub 2000
Clock Anna, CLOCCCCCKKKKKK!
Yes
Win, lose, we just love seeing you 🙂. This was a higher rated player, so naturally game more difficult to win.
Short term memory ist state dependent.
She's so funny with her bye byes at the end. It's like chat is a 1 year old baby the way she says good bye.
🩷 Anna'Baby !

Flip the board!
To bad Its over. I could hear Hammers commentating and dark humor EVERYDAY
Yea Hammer
Heartbreaking. Anna needs to practice converting a winning position to a won game.
👏👏👏👏🥳

Mongolian players were beasts but anna did good

Apparently their NOT all Nomads in Mongolia! Who knew!
They're. Ignorant fool.
Tú lo que quieres es que te coma el tigre
Anna has a great temperament for chess and for life.
Isn’t it always the same with Anna, she does very well in the opening, gets to a middle game with chances but then collapses under time pressure and just relying too much on opening prep? Hes super GM, so yeah Hes a Lot better than anyone of us
He's currently in the top 200 in the world and Anna paid him to give his opinion of what she "should" or "might" do.
Because Anna can't commentate till after the game so we get to see what she is thinking or not thinking.
Jesus, stick to Chess. if you have no idea where it is why do you think people die there in the winter???
Anna is not a good player unfortunately, especially for a team. Her mother, Pia is much better and reliable.
What a waste.
EXACTLY. NO MONEY IN CHESS . PITTY . AND IYS NOTHING LIKE GOOTBALL . LOL😅
Maybe everyone will disagree with me but I actually can't stand his so-called 'commentary' which 90% of the time is answering irrelevant questions from the chat while ignoring the games he's supposed to be analyzing
I really enjoy his excellent commentary. He engages the chat brilliantly and has a lovely dry sense of humor.
I think he does a great job. I like it when he travels down various rabbit trails.
Hammer is just too negative to be a coach.
Just like you, then.
Negative? He’s being objective and realistic. Not everything needs to be sunshine and rainbows all the damn time.
I think he would make an absolutely perfect coach for Anna.
Yesterday he was a jerk the way he cutted off Anna all the time, he didn't even begrudge her the moment of joy over Sweden's win that day.
@@huubdols4759 He’s Norwegian; they aren’t known to be overly joyful or expressive. Anna talks a lot and very quickly. If he never cuts her off, he’d never get a chance to speak.
