I don't think they would discontinue the Prysma line if the new offerings weren't a superior product. We know Machinewise is committed to quality, and I have no doubt that if the Tottori and Sasori didn't measure up, the Prysma would stick around. As for the SlifT, that one does hurt because the SlifT was such good bang for the buck in terms of a ti balisong, but I would be shocked if they don't have something new in the works to replace it.
For real. So many people used to gas up how good their stuff was, because it was genuinely good. They make the announcement, and suddenly nobody has faith that they can make something good. No way they would ever pull beloved products and put out an inferior product. Im sad I never got a slifT, but Im still excited to see what they are cooking up.
I’m. It worried about quality I was excited for the new stuff it looks cool but o wanted it buy a prisms pro and sift when I got to uni in a country where shipping isn’t 4x the price of the product
I feel like their optics would have been infinitely better if they just put everything "On Hiatus", release the Tottori/Sasori, see what the response is like, and then go from there.
I’ve watched this video a couple times and my favorite point you make that I feel like a lot of others dont is that these dont feel like machinewise balis the length, design, and construction dont feel machinewise to me but we hope that the quality and affordability remains machinewise because that’s my favorite thing about machinewise
Everything changes and evolves. If we cling to what we have, we can never grow. With that being said, the SliftV2 is one of my favorite balisongs. Liked it so much that i bought 2. I am excited for the new designs.
For me, no matter how jaw droppingly amazing the sasori and tottori possibly turn out, i don't think i could ever flip one and be happy about it just specifically because they introduced it at the same time they got rid of the prysmas and slift, almost like trying to replace them; like the prysmas and slift had to be gone for this to exist
As much as I was crushed by this news, I doubt that 5 of the best balisong manufacturers on the planet decided to discontinue 3 of the greatest balisongs in the game without good reason. These things are about to be insane
I felt kinda a similar level of disappointment when i heard the news but then i stepped back and thought well i already have a serif, opus, slift, and prysma v1, and i wasn't thinking about buying 2 of the same just to support machinewise assuming most of machinewise customers are in the same boat maybe his market wasn't as big as before it seemed like for a while stock wasn't selling out quite as quickly as in the past i originally assumed that could've been ramping up production but maybe thats decreased demand so does that mean a product should still stay in production just because i think its good i personally don't know if ill buy the new offerings i hope they're just as good and interesting to make me want to buy them but with the size changes and personally the blade shapes just dont intrigue me ill wait to hear some reviews but at the same time im not thrilled these are some of my favorite knives in my collection so its disappointing that more people won't have the opportunity to acquire them new the only thing i truly regret is not getting a prysma pro i just figured it seemed to similar to the v1 to make me determined to add it to my collection and if i changed my mind they seemed to always be in stock but now i wish i had at least gotten one to experience it and probably would've tried to get the live blade so id have another blade shape on the maryn platform to experiment with
Just yesterday I watched Will Hirches video on the history of Machinewise with the man himself. Machinewise (I don't remember his name) said: "I remember wanting to discontinue the Serif in favour of another bali, but it's good that I got talked out of it", but this just feels the same as that situation. So you gotta wonder: what changed?
I’d hope for special drops every now and again of the pro and slift but I am excited for the new stuff. Just sad I wasn’t able to get them as I am new and have other things to do before buying balis of that cost based on where I live. Really wanted the pro as my first premium trainer and then slift as my first love blade guess it’s back to hoping for a tanto kraken
I was planning to get the pro on my birthday, seeing there’s absolutely no negative reviews about the pro. Machinewise doesn’t need to blend in with other balisong makers, it can stand out and be one of the best balisong makers out there with the unique maryn platform, and im certain people also really like the customization options, because people that has different preferences can have the perfect balisong for them. In conclusion, i think that it is a downgrade looking from now, i hope machinewise will bring atleast something that makes machinewise, machinewise
The one time I got FOMO was with MachineWise products and I’m so glad I did. I still need a purple Prysma Pro, hopefully there will be a few more. I’m sure whatever Deylan came up with the new models will be amazing as always!!
Im so thankful to have red/green prysma pro live blade from the thanksgiving sale. Change is hard when its something close to you but im excited to see what happens. Lots of times we come out ahead
After hearing this news, I bought a custom blade and a speed channels Prysma pro to blade swap with my v2. I have wanted something like it since Machinewise started with the custom stuff.

Thy deft manipulation of its blades doth weave a tapestry of elegance and skill, reminiscent of the finest artisans of yore. For some reason we have little faith in machinewise, they made this decision obviously because they think these new balisongs can top their old lineup. Let’s just play it by ear and trust that they know what they’re doing because they’ve proved that multiple times. I’m super excited for the live blade personally
When you on the fringe of a hobby that's already fringe and anything but widespread, or even accepted - and 'in the community' (which is also a extreme echo chamber) it's setting yourself up for cognitive dissonance when a **company** makes commercial and financial decisions for themselves.
Its actually a good sign as a growing busniess, theyre able to move older products aside and have the freedom to innovate and make even cooler stuff for us! And plus, most people own those balisongs at this point, and you own them too so why so sad? This is not a bad thing in any capacity. So i honestly dont see why people are losing their minds about it. And thats not to say that 18months from now they wont put them back up, or at the very least do limited drops of them or whatever. Either way man gotta look at the bright side, and with you being such a large channel and reaching so many people, what you say and your sentiments will absolutely affect how people think, especially people who are new to the hobby or dont follow everything closely like some of us do. And how can you say the new bali dont feel like a MW product? We've only just seen a teaser. What you shouldve said was, this new bali is exciting bc MW is innovating, ultimately succeeding, being able to be creative and in the process keep offering us some of the best flippers! The way you talk about it makes it sound like they're doing something wrong. Tbh i dont like the negativity. How would u even speculate that these new balisongs wouldnt "flip"?? 😂 and dont get me wrong, youre free to express how you genuinely feel, but i just think you could help the meta and how people perceive things in a better light by being more thoughtful about your tone and exactly what you say. Agree but they would probably hold up all the other products if their team was larger than 2 or 3 people iirc. Having to constantly make the same products with no time/material budget for experimentation probably gets boring
