Good Morning 😃 A really great job with a great result!!!! You even thought of the bottle on the antenna, how cool. A little tip!! Under the MG box there is a sack that catches the sleeves and belt links! The sandbags on the rear compartment could have been done better but still great job. I like 😃 Greetings from Germany and Dran-Drauf-Drüber 🇩🇪🇺🇦
Guten morgan mein freund!! I'm going to have to research the box. I had not seen that. I wasn't happy with the sandbags. I at the time didn't realize the would stick so good. I was kinda stuck at that point. Next time!
Nice work Rick san. You did put a black primer first, so it's easy to understand how to put a highlight color ! Thank you for sharing. Have a nice week end and stay safe carefully my friend. Cheers, NOB
Hi Rick the Marder, turned out perfectly, the paint/ camo colour came out great, for the black you could have used Tamiya tyre black, take care and keep safe and well, happy modelling mate, best regards from a Kiwi living in Australia.
Ah nice Marder you did there :D Some things, as you mentioned the rope (we actually use cable for it) we usually make it two parts because you have tools and equipment in the storage bins on the sides we might need to get access to (sleeping bags, backpacks and so on). The bottle on the antenna is correct we used those for the night times and used lights in it. The back lights were taped over same for the licence plates, headlights etc. A few details you might be interested if you build another Marder. The red center on the wheels are not painted red on Marder because you have a little round glass there where you can see liquid in it (if you make a just parked one you coud add water stains there because we used to clean the center parts of the run wheels with water from a jerry can). Most of the times we simply used spare camo nets for the turret and on the hull we placed big tree branches with the leaves covering the front of the vehicle, while not using camo nets. Also we often camouflaged the gun barrel too. The Mirrors have a small rubber part around them, so if you want to go crazy with details you could also paint the outer part black. :) But it's a very well done model there.
@@Ricks135scalemodels That are a lot of Marder you have to build. You could make an OPFOR Marder which is displaying enemy vehicles. Those have red X's taped on the sides and front. Maybe you have seen this already in some references.
@@Ricks135scalemodels Yes, the "friendly" forces didn't used any markings, only the enemy was depicted with the red X's . The Roland was also a nice System, never have seen and model kits of it, but there are resin and 3d printed versions now. It was in service before i joined the military though. All i know is that it was used on Marder and also used on a MAN 15t truck.
Great build, you have a lot of ideas. I'm kinda in a rut as I use enamel paints so I have to find creative ways to weather my models. I won't be switching to acrylic paint any time soon, I have enough paint to paint my 700+ models.
Another great build Rick! Master of camo netting! It adds a lot of interest and livens up the vehicle. Looking forward for your next project. Thanks for sharing, take care and keep up the good work my friend!
Looks great mate! Way do something similar to the rfm challenger 2 I've noticed the way they do the rope over the top front and like tided off underneath the bottom ends of the turret etc looks tedious but effects awesome
Hello! I've been looking to build a Type 90 model for a while now but couldn't find any. Do you happen to know anywhere I can find one (preferably with the bulldozer if there is)? Btw, the finished product looks really good! Love the paintjob, you did a really good job with it 👍
Really enjoyed this video Rick. Once again great explantion of the techniques being used. One question, where does your fascination with Bundeswher armor come from?
Thank you. I did a video a while back but short story. My dad does modern American. When I was a kid (70's) he did 1/35 scale war gaming and I wanted to. A NATO country was W. Germany. Thats where it started.
i learned so much froom this video. thanks alot for uploading.
Thank you
Great job Rick, as previously quoted, I love the string/rope on the sides. I will use that tip myself.
Thank you David

Outstanding information. I have 8 Marder 1a3 kits to build that I plan to modify. This really help. Like I said I've always loved that vehicle.

I've seen the red and blue war game version. I will be a roland. I'm going to look into that

Thank you. I have moved away from acrylic to a laquar by Mr hobby that I'm really happy with. Weathering is the trick and fun to do.

Thank you George. I'm always learning and appreciate the kind words.
nice job i may have to get me some of that camo nettting keep them coming
It's great stuff. Thank-you
Great looking build! I really like all the netting, rope/rigging and foliage you added to this.
Thank you my friend!! It coveres the kit but looks great and realistic.
Great looking model and very nice weathering! Just some very minor errors concerning the camouflage.
Well.. I tried
Hi Rick, Kurt from Trinidad again. Did you matt the vehicle after the camo net/storage? Did not pick that up in the video.
I did finish off with a Mate/flat clear. I'm gonna have to look and see if I showed that.

It wasn't actually that hard surprisingly. It does make fir nice results. Thank you.

You probably have more working Marders than the BW^^
