An old English children’s game followed the poem “Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Sailor, Rich Man, Poor Man, Beggar Man, Thief.” In the game, kids would try to determine what they would become later in life. Whether we become rich or poor, one thing is common to all-hardship. Trials are the great equalizer, bringing all of God’s children to depend on Him. James, with barefaced practicality, looked at the advantages of suffering for both the poor man and the rich man.

I finished going through the 24 sermon series "The End is Near?". I had used some of the series for my research paper in Central Academy and wanted to view the entire series, it was great! Now I'm enjoying this series!
Great message Pastor Skip! I really resonate with the statement that you want to pass the current trial you are in; you don't want to have to take it again. I feel the same way. I know I am being tested at 60 with similar issues I failed at in my 40's. I want to be successful this time and trusting God all the way. God bless us all as we journey ... we will be home soon! 😃

My husband didn't buy me a gift on Mother's Day after our first daughter was born. I was hurt and cried. He said I wasn't his mother. Not a good response. We were married 56 years when he went home to the Lord!👆

We live in Guatemala, our monthly income, after taxes and installments, is 450 USD. With less than 5 USD we can buy healthy vegan food for the whole week. Some other citizens, do have the same liquid income than we have (they are not required taxes and installments). The difference or similarity in status is the ability to invest, on a day-to-day basis. Despite our salary is larger our opportunities are the same to those people with smaller salary. In times of bounty, so to speak, we managed to buy a comfortable property, while people living on a day-to-day basis do have problems to manage those times of bounty. We still believe in social and economic equity, but we have found that humans profoundly differ in their understanding of long-lasting resources.
