      Quora really doesn't care about being civil these days anymore. So glad i left that trash website today on july 15, 2024. They've also deleted some of my answers even though I answered it throughouly. I just can't believe what Quora has come too. The users over there are also bullies there too.

    • @PrinceBlake
      @PrinceBlake 3 роки тому

      @@lecturesbywalterlewin.they9259 Ik woon in een huis omringd door de prachtige bloemen van de ochtendglorie. Er is zelfs een patch die mijn mailbox bedekt, die ik de Shaggy Dog noem. Ik stelde me voor dat als elk huis in mijn buurt gezegend zou zijn met deze mooie bloem, hoe dit een beroemde buurt zou maken. Iedereen zou hierheen komen om de Morning Glory Trail in de omgeving van Woodcreek en Sleepy Hollow te zien. Mijn geheim om ze te kweken was om niets te doen. Ik liet ze gewoon met rust terwijl vele anderen ze zouden verwijderen en als overlast zouden behandelen. Dus ik ben het eens met uw antwoord, maar voor de oorzaak. Ik ben nog niet overtuigd van de Big Bang. En misschien heb je er een beetje schuld aan dat ik het volhield. Ik zie de natuur tevoorschijn komen in een ontelbaar aantal explosies, net zoals de bloemen van de Morning Glory in bloei ontploffen, elk volgens de timing van de dag en het seizoen. Maar voor de oorzaak, ik zie niet één explosie, maar ik zie je slingeren vanaf een bal in je collegezaal. Stel je een camera voor die achteruit rijdt van MIT de ruimte in, zodat de aarde een kleine stip is, dan ons zonnestelsel en onze melkweg, enzovoort, allemaal kleine stippen. In de leegte van de ruimte en omringd door kleine lichtpuntjes vragen we ons af, welk pad van evenwicht naar deze ballen volgt, volgt de zwaartekracht van de grootste naar de kleinste schaal? Toen zag ik je video van een spinnewiel en in mijn meest creatieve tijd tussen slapen en wakker zijn zag ik je hangen aan de as van een gigantisch spinnewiel dat het wiel in precessie zette. Ik stelde me de paden voor op de kleinste schaal, vloeiend als ze zijn, frameloos, zonder spaken, maar alleen impulsmoment dat hun pad leidde. Ik plaatste mijn model van ruimte en tijd waar ik al sinds mijn tienerjaren aan werk en het paste perfect. Als kind bad ik op een avond hard dat G-d me de kracht en de gave van inzicht zou geven om mijn vader te helpen. Hij was een NASA-ingenieur en een buitengewone danser. Ik vond het antwoord waar ik naar op zoek was in de dans van de tijd, het pad van beweging en je lezingen hielpen deze ongelijksoortige delen samen te brengen, zodat ik de schepping niet in een knal zie, maar in een eeuwige dans tussen uitdijende en orbitale paden genaamd de pijl van tijd.

    Hello Prof. Walter.
    I have two questions?
    1. Do you believe that god exist? I am maybe so rude by asking this question, but your answer is really important for me?
    and my second question is
    2. Can physics one day explain to mankind why does life exist?
    Thank you.

    • @lecturesbywalterlewin.they9259
      @lecturesbywalterlewin.they9259  6 років тому +3

      here are answers from Stephen Hawking. I agree with his answers.
      1. "God may exist, but science can explain the universe without the need for a creator."
      "The scientific account is complete. Theology is unnecessary."
      2. Life has not yet been created in the lab. However, Universe is 13 billion years old and given the richness of options, it is inevitable. There are about 10^21 planets in our Universe. If 1 in 10 million supports life (this is a very conservative number) then there are about 10^14 planets in our Universe with life. Many forms of life will be tens of millions of years more advanced than humans many will be less advanced than humans. We should avoid (if that is possible) any direct contacts with those other forms of life as that could permanently end our present human race. *That would not be a great loss, but it would cause great suffering.*

    The problem with Quora is that it intends to protect users from offenses but actually protects only those who ask questions from receiving offensive answers, without considering how much can be offended by certain questions (well beyond the limit of idiocy) those who receive them.
    It is a place where it is absolutely impossible to make humor or irony.
    They take themselves too seriously and, with this attitude, they have already lost a large number of really good contributors, who have preferred to abandon it rather than submit to such obtuse regulation.
    So, dear Prof. Lewin, you're in good company (although I know that you do not care much about this and that you would still go straight for your way, with the consistency you've always shown).
    The world can very well live without Quora; I do not know how much Quora could go on without valid people who frequent it. Irony (especially self-irony) is one of the hallmarks of intelligent people; if Quora continues to ostracize all those who are ironic, in the end it will only remains with users who ask stupid questions and idiots who try to answer seriously.

    Quora is (ostensibly) supposed to be a forum where people can express their own opinions. However, if those opinions don't happen to suit the moderators, look out!
    You are quite right - those moderators don't appear to have much of a sense of humour - but never mind, it's THEIR loss! (But we DO need to remember - it is THEIR website and it costs us absolutely NOTHING to pass comments and so, if the moderators don't like them, I suppose they have the right to ban us.
