I like how STO has changed so much in regards to how the ships are viewed from the old school and how there is more colors, designs, and the overall feel of the multiverse.
Loving the fact that you gentlemen continue to bring us everything that is TREK. As always, please continue making it so.
I love it, even the underside view. Something different but still Trek. Thanks guys for the analysis.
I like STO's design style. I like the colours. And this ship in particular reminds me of a whale. And I like whales.
Pudlord Tynan are you the Whale Probe?
Mr Deco ya I think so
The new Picard series should be on that ship!
"There be whales here!"
Hey Trekyards, the ship at 11.00 minutes is not the Daystrom, it's the Scott Class which has the nacelles placed much further apart and has a Galaxy style saucer :D just saying. Keep reviewing the STO ships!
Davide Gagliardi they know mate, they say it.
I like it. It feels like a flying Science station rather than a ship. If you took the silhouette from the front half it's basically a station design. That makes sense to me.
I really like this ship. It looks like what you expect for a ship designed to fix things and carry lots of materials around.
The ship at 11:00 is actually the Engineering variant. Notice the wide, oval saucer and the separated nacelles compared to the Daystrom. Tactical variants get a pointy saucer. The Miracle Worker ships for all factions also have the best Quantum Slipstream Drive, lasting for 90 seconds and very fast.
I love it, especially the bottom. A world unto itself capable of handling anything.
I actually really like this design. I am a fan of huge, heavy cruisers in STO, especially the Starfleet ones.
Hey guys,
Great video. I have all 3 versions of this ship in game. My favorite is the Tucker Class. Keep up the awesome work, your love for Trek really shines through in your work.
I have the complete set of these. I can understand why some people don't like the looks of these ships but they make up for it with all the things these ships can do and the defense.
The underside pic is of the Scott class, where as the previous pics are the Daystrom class
Very interesting design it does have that space whale feel to it. When I saw the lower view of the hull for the first time I immediately thought excelsior went one to many times to the buffet.
🖖😎👍very cool looking ship indeed, and you guys did a great job on being very informative on and about it indeed.
I would either thin down the neck and put a bottom saucer on it, or go with a double neck design with a hole down the center...... That "Chest" reminds me of the older colony or cargo ships back in the TOS era. This is a definite high and low hull design with that neck connecting things. The ships menu allows you to pick different pylon and saucer schemes along with the ability to change the paint.
The bottom side is hillarious! Funny!
I'd like to think of these ships as mobile Starbases. They're designed for heavy duty work in deep space. I can picture this thing in the middle of a fleet, supporting the rest of the ships around it.
10:54 That is the "Scott" Operations (Engineering) class 13:02 We're back to the Daystrom class.
You guys should do a video on all the Miracle Worker variants - the Scott and Tucker along with the Daystrom. Personally I like the Tucker.
I like this ship, thats the way a ship is suppose to look. I like how the secondary hull is more centered under the causer section. It looks more realistic.
I like to think of the windows on the saucer as 2 windows per deck, makes more sense to me scale wise.
I think the biggest fix the ship needs is the saucer to be bigger it would balance out that bulbous secondary hull
It looks like the Titan is mating with the Excelsior.
If this ship was larger it would be a very good Borg buster. The saucer section would be a rear area command and control base with a 500 bed hospital, repair facilities and living quarters for personnel between combat missions. The upper hull would be configured as a heavy destroyer. The lower hull would function like an aircraft carrier but would be capable of carrying an entire fleet of upgraded Defiant class ships. The ship would also have facilities for diplomatic and scientific missions.
I love the jet plane engine intake bussards. gives it a neat feel
You guys should definitely do more STO ships. While some vomit inducing, most of the others are very good, and continue the Prime Star Trek design aesthetic.
The minivan of the fleet, lol i love it!
lol, the bottom image is from the Scott class, not the Daystrom XD
After seeing the 1st & 2nd views, the 3rd was a... shock. But I like this design; it's fit for purpose but still has some grace in its lines and remains within the cannon asthetic
This could also be a big luxury liner built at Meyer Space Yards, Emden, Germany
I am from Emden Germany :) give us a few years and we make you one of those for your holyday cruise to ryza
Jens Hoffmann Lol. You could imagine a whole lineup of these cruise ships in different variations in orbit around that planet. Meyer Werft of the future is going to be busy :-)
I would love to see your guy's opinion on the Romulan Miracle Worker ships.....there is one variant that is gorgeous. Still a big ship, but much MUCH nicer than the Fed versions
Its nice, but that neck in the front maybe needs pushed back to about midship, leaving a space between the saucer and the drive section. Kinda like that huge twin hull elachi ship
I like that it's....unique. I'll give it that. I just wish they pushed the secondary hull further back. From the center point of the saucer to the edge, rather than solely centered. I think that would've helped even out the proportions.
Its bulky because of what its used for in game. Its a miracle worker specialisation class. An engineering character. Its a tanker designed to tank as much damage as possible. Shrug it off like a brute. It has stat wise a ridiculous hull stength/HP stat. Even the different versions are named after Starfleet's most famous engineers. The Trip and Montgomery Scott classes.
I think it could separate into two ships. The top one for battle while the bottom half is for science and diplomatic missions.
I don't mind the size and bulk. Volume is sometimes quite important. Remember that we haven't seen everything that exists in the Star Trek universe, even though these things that we haven't seen are well known to the folks who live in that universe. For example, in Next Gen episode "The Ensigns of Command" where the Sheliak race are threatening a human colony, there is a line that strongly suggests that there are ships that serve as 'people movers' that have a capacity that greatly exceeds a Galaxy class to move those colonists so the Sheliak can take the planet. So, much like there are oil tankers and container ships that greatly exceed the mass and volume of aircraft carriers in our world, I imagine that colony ships and terraforming ships might be greatly scaled up from even the grand Galaxy class. The Daystrom just being an advanced, Star Fleet version of such large ships.
Larqven 01 I always feel the same in science fiction as compared to the American navy. Different shops for different tasks. It makes sense that as a Starfleet organisation you’d want a couple of bigger ships to transport people or material around. It’s a lovely design obviously limitation on budget means you can’t see all of this on screen but like you mentioned they should have some big ships to transport people around.
You are looking at 2 different variations of the ship.... Those escape pods are more like escape launches in size. There are 3 main versions of the command ship, science, tactical and engineering within the game. They all have the same weapons loadout capability, how they fight is quite different due to the internal equipment.
This looks like an extension or evolution of the Colourbrand submission for the Odessey class enterprise competition.
I would double down and put 2 more nacelles and have it split into 3 parts, the top would be an attack craft/ strike craft the center a near regular starship and the bottom would be support ops, med bays, maintenance and repair, and tactical operations.
Miracle worker is referring to the miracle worker specialization bridge station on the ship
I appreciate the Enterprise-B style flares around the deflector dish. Always dug that style.
feels more like a medical ship when you look at the front ventral perspective. One big hospital.
haha and then that is mentioned!
It looks like a cruise ship (ocean liner). The kind that look like a little wind would knock them over.
big bulky bull ship, interesting design. it's a getting used to ship.
That ship would make an ideal medical cruiser given its 4 engines & a great replacement for the Olympic class.
Miracle worker class: Sounds like an engineering ship for me. Drop a part of the ship and it can repair other ships or starbases. It might even be able to haul parts of a starbase. The bulky secondary hull could be manufacturing stations.
looks like a cruise liner with a star ship parked on top
When I was a kid in the 70s Star Trek only had a couple of ship classes. Constitution class, and Constitution class! LOL Unless you want to include other governments. The Klingons had the D7 Battlecruiser and that's pretty much it. The Romulans had the Bird of Prey captained by Spock's dad, Sarek, and they also had the....ummm...D7 Battlecruiser. LOL Oh, I almost forgot, the First Federation had the Disco Light class heavy, heavy, HEAVY cruiser!
The escape pods are probably not "one-person" but more like giant lifeboats with a lot of capacity.
All the command and miracle worker ships are big. STO has been driving the REAL canon for most Trek fans for a reason. The S-T-D ships always look subtly diseased somehow.
This looks like a durable workhorse like the service tugs you see around the oil rigs in the gulf, a big deep bull dog chest sort of thing in the bottom view. It then tapper back to plenty of structure to support the nacelles.
Looks like the "Dad Bod" version of the Excelsior class with extra pylons. Windows and escape pods are really off proportions.
So this is the Scotty Class ship.
No, the Scotty Class is the one with a Galaxy shape saucer. And is the Engineering variant. This Daystrom variant is the Science variant. Personally i like the Tucker Tactical Class the most :)
Oh? Oh. sto.gamepedia.com/Scott_Operations_Miracle_Worker_Cruiser
looks smooth and fast for an elephant. I like it, somehow.
This ship should have Multi-Vector Assault Mode
I love this ship. Its name and bulk makes me think its a medical ship. Just a giant flying hospital going around treating planet-wide pandemics and catastrophes.
Honestly, this thing reminds me of a shallow sink or toilet. It's kinda grown on me.
This is a cruse ship. Not science, not warfare. This is a "Royal Caribbean" mega bus.
...where's the water slide? I bet it has indoor alpine ski slopes, 22 award winning dining halls, shopping, and a go-cart track.
I want to take a second to talk about a topic here quick that I've brought up in the past.
I really like what you guys try to bring up in your videos, but just about every video like this I try to watch, I end up skipping around to find pieces of the video that interest me.
I still feel like, overall, most of your videos are too long or at the very least lack enough information to make it a good view from start to finish.
Several videos you guys have done have been outstanding; particularly the ones where you have a lot of backstory (usually patron contributions, I believe). The Enterprise D 3-Parter (I believe) was by and large one of your best videos IMHO. It was long, but it had so much fantastic information and even some controversial information that it was enjoyable. Additionally, ones that you bring on guests often seem to always be a TON cleaner and funner to watch. Rick Sternbach episodes are particularly fantastic to watch (though I'm sure you hear this all the time). Putting together a Best of Sernbach might be fantastic.
I'd really like to see much of the works mentioned. I'd probably patron you guys if we got one video a week at this level, even if it was the only video you produced each week.
Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy reviews of ships like this, but I feel its hard to justify a video like this being longer then 6-10 minutes. I end up burning through perhaps 2 minutes of footage when a video like this pop ups in my feed. I'm interested in the ship design, but not so much of the lengthy discussion of each angels.
I've suggested other UA-camrs in the past. Two other related channels that might give you some great ideas might be Star Wars Reading Club and DashStar. They cover similar content as this channel, but are obviously much more Star Wars focused.
I hope this feedback helps.
First and second views are amazing and pretty. Third view had me WTF
Got an Excelsior thing going on with that secondary hull and neck, albeit the neck is bulked up considerably. I think if you're going to go the four nacelle route, you need to remove the neck and integrate the saucer into the secondary hull. I agree with the opening statement though, STO ship designers do a great job in making ships look Star Trek. I know it's not the designers fault STD ships don't but the show could learn a lot from this game's design team.
Should do a video on the Dominion Warships of the late 24th century the Victory is Life pack in STO. The new Jem'Hadar carrier is beautiful and Odo's flagship. Even the new Cardassian ship designs like Garik's Tain ship.
I like the sto colors, and don’t have any problems with any of the pictures of this ship. My problem is that I think a ship should FEEL mostly the same from all angles. The Connie and Sovereign do this really well, which is what makes them so good for me.
Oh, no! I must've missed Discoverys A through D before the 17 minute mark... (chuckle, snicker, chortle)
I know you've done a lot of Miranda Content, but I'd like to hear your take on the STO Reliant class
Now that I think about it, the design of this ship in comparison to the more conventional designed like the Constitution is like comparing a modern cruise ship (let’s take Oasis of the Seas) to a beautiful ocean liner (let’s take Titanic as she’s the most well known). The ocean liner is elegant like the connie, while this is the bulky cruise ship, where the aim is to fit as much inside as possible
Hmm, that's a high registry number (NCC-98800). I remember seeing a review of the class somewhere with a USS Ops Miracle with registry number NCC-93143, but can't find it atm. Also, USS Daystrom is obviously a class ship, so... weird.
Large transport ship. From colonization to refugee, to equipment to troops.
It looks like a whale had a baby with a mushroom and that baby had nacelles. But it's pretty cool!
Perhaps they're life boats, not escape pods.
I also think this looks like it should separate, the upper half looks like a separate ship. I dig the coloring. The neck reminds me of Excelsior. I think the neck is a giant shuttle bay, probably holds larger ships than shuttles, it looks like it has a big door just above the mouth looking deflector.
I think this is a case of how it is used in a game versus how it would be used in the fiction. The fact that the 3 variations are named after engineers and the class is Miracle Worker it is likely the class was designed for the Starfleet Core of Engineers. in that regard it makes a bit more sense. This ship would be full of engineers and engineering equipment. It would provide engineers with the resources they need to get a planets infrastructure reinforced or updated. Given how many wars that the Alpha Quadrant has gone through they probably need support ships like these.
Since Captain Foley likes dreadnaught's go check out the N.C.C. 1900 prototype dreadnaught Atlas class
Looks like it's got a ship on top
I have seen a few of the miracle worker ships flying around whilst I've been playing. Whilst I think it looks bulky they do seem to be able to take the hits. Thinking of getting them once I get the discovery operations pack
The minivan of starships!
I like it! Yes its not a classic (set secondary hull back) sleek look to it, but I still like it, its got a Nimitx carrier bow to it. It needs three nacelles, not four.
Long range science vessel with families, almost a generational ship!
Better design than the Universe class! Fantastic vid as always. What about the new STO Victory is Life ships?
Makes me think of an ice breaker vessel. Or ST's version of one.
I would like to see eaglemoss replicate the Daystrom Class
The Miracle worker style ships; my head cannon was always larger to stuff a bunch of engineers so you can repair ships in space. A mobile repair space station.
I'm the exact opposite of you guys. the first time I saw this ship was the bow on (3rd pic) and I instantly loved it.
To me I looks more like the hull of a massive ship setting sail out onto the galaxy.
That's true for me, too. I love a Star Trek ship with something that evokes a quasi sailing ship. This is certainly a huge bow, oversized, but is fine for a ship that specializes in volume and mass capacity.
6:45 when i first saw this image i thought it was upside down
A multi mission heavy cruiser for Fluidic Space.
Looks like a Mass Effect ship.
I think its a long term ship, so it has extensive recreation and living spaces, as well as supplies. Perhaps long term emergency stock in case of loss of power for replicator for an extended time, or to carry raw materials that cant be replicated.
I love her because she isnt built to be pretty, shes built to work
When I first saw them announce these ships the immediate nickname we had for it was the flying toilet. It's literally a toilet with nacelles like you could lift the saucer and take a dump.
However saying that it's an interesting take on trek design and Starfleet design for that manner.
When you get down to it all Starfleet designs are the same basic design more or less. Opponents know that. With this it's more bulky more where do you hit this thing.
Furthermore it also had lots more practicality than most Starfleet designs.
I still think it looks like a flying toilet but I'm more receptive to it now than i was before
I really like this ship. I almost feel like it could be the start of humanity adopting a more nomadic existence. Like generations could be born, live, and die on ship while touring around the galaxy.
Question... Do ships only need deflectors when they aren't at warp since when they are anything that would hit them gets warped around them?
More a long range colony ship.
Definitely has the internal space to move people and gear around.
The second view looks like two ships could separate with a Saucer of the top ship being inside the red ring and the second ship being inverted (sandwiched together).
The Design of the Saucer looks very Discovery to me. These layert ring, i suspect some of them to spin. And with the four nacelles, and the (almost) seperatet Back, it looks like the upper Half is a Ship of its own. Multivector anyone?
It would have to big and sturdy in order to manifest all know how that comes with the federation. Saying that it would all have to be able to protect itself against whatever that would take or destroy federation personal and technology. At least until help arrives. I like it lots.
Looks great. Reminds me of the W-wing fighter.
From this view, it looks like it could split into two ships that could both look great.
I prefer the Tucker variant and use the spread out nacelles of the Scott variant, I absolutely hate the wide oval saucer of the Scott variant.
It would make sense for Starfleet to build combination type science and battle-tough starships moving forward. Intriguing design but it obviously looks Whalish and more than likely separates into two complete starships.
There's another cool 4 nacelled ship called the Poseidon class it's a combat carrier is currently my go-to ship on console it's doosey of a looker too
That’s the Ford F-350 of the fleet.
I don't know if you have ever covered the ships from "Space: Above and Beyond " If not I would love to see them on your show
I can't remember if they did the Command Battle cruisers from STO as well. They are where a lot of that top look comes from.
