    I have an original letter from Harland and Wolff sent to William Tindall dated Jan 17th, 1866. In it the shipyard discusses fitting out work they were carrying out to complete the Boyne. Great video. Thank you for posting it.

      wow really? thats pretty awesome. After i made this video someone got in contact who had found part of the Bell while walking along the cliffs here years ago. It was badly damaged and missing the top but you could still see the writing on it.

    Wonderful program. I'm definitely going to recommend you to others and agree on preserving and Documening artifacts. Keep doing wonderful things. 😁

    I agree about removing objects from the sea. In Western Australia, the Government doesn't allow treasure to be taken from the seabed. Many Gold and Silver coins from shipwrecks cannot be salvaged because of this policy.

    Fascinating. I haver been researching the Boyne as I know where the ship's bell is!

      Cheers David. After making this video I got shown a picture of the bell, found by someone walking along the rocks many years ago ! It’s damaged but you can clearly see the name still on it and the registered port . It would be a fantastic addition to my collection if they ever wanted to part with it ! I’m hoping sometime helston museum will have the artefacts for a display on the wreck .

      Hi Ben, it's not my bell, but I have been restoring it. It has been hanging in a bell tower on a farm for many years. It is complete and has BOYNE and SCARBOROUGH on it. I don't think that the owner will part with it.

    • @BenoCam
      @BenoCam  2 роки тому

      @@davidissitt5105 that’s fair enough. As long as the owner appreciates it and knows it’s history I’m happy with that 🙂
      I have quite a collection from it now. Enough to make quite an impressive museum display ! Also we have others in the area we have been diving and more videos to make when I get a chance !!

      @@BenoCam Yes, he knows that it is a great piece of history - I initially researched it for his dad who passed some years ago. Redoing the research now, and that is how I cam across your great video. I can send you some photos of the bell if that is any good.

      The Tindall family were Quakers who built ships in Scarborough, William Harland was a Doctor and amateur engineer lived near Tindalls yard, his son Edward Harland studied engineering, then became a ship builder in partnership with Wolf moving to Belfast!

    Very interesting & impressive to your investigation Ben . I quite agree preservation is what we need in the 21st century, so much has been lost & forgotten

    Cracker, thanks. Didn't know about this one. Is it a protected wteck ? There's another Boyne wreck just outside Pompey Harbour entrance. Thanks again.

    • @BenoCam
      @BenoCam  3 роки тому

      Cheers, no it’s not protected, we only found it for the first time this summer. There is very little left. Almost all of the artefacts were in a single gully and there is very little left for such a large vessel.
