Im a new Catholic getting baptised in 3weeks. Its my first Holy week. Tomorrow, Maundy Thursday i have been asked to be one of tne 12 that goes up to get my feet washed by my Priest. Im a bit nervous but its a lesson i must learn and im glad to be joining in. This IS where im supposed to be!
Congratulations to you! I am responsible for gathering Disciples for Washing of the Feet at my parish. Please don’t be nervous. It is, in my humble opinion, our most beautiful Liturgy. Father will ask everyone to remove one shoe (he will let you know which one. He will pour water over your foot and dry with a towel. In our parish, all are dismissed at once to return to their seat. Sit in the middle if you can so you can see the process. I will be praying for you.

Ask Blessed Mother to help you and remember that even Jesus’ closest circle within the 12 apostles fell asleep during the most critical moment of the world. If you ask for heaven’s assistance, you will get it. The saints who mastered this kind of attentiveness are joyful to help you!

Every time I get sleepy while at Mass, I think of Peter, James, and John in the Garden falling asleep.
I am doing adoration from 4am to 5am Holy Thursday night and can't wait to spend that hour with him ... Dear God I pray I will stay awake....I am afraid I will fall asleep

Like so many of us, I have heard the stories and Bible readings of Holy Week since childhood. I find it hard to keep from tuning out or just finding it all ho-hum since it feels old hat. Let’s all pray to find radical newness in the events of Holy Week since this year we are broken in ways we weren’t all those other years, and also this year we have gifts to give that we didn’t have in other years. We have to imagine we were hearing this good news for the very first time, because in a way, we are. I’m off to Adoration. Praying for all of you. Please pray for me. 🩷

I'm unemployed and live at a shelter in the Bronx. I deliberate on what to do every day, to the point that deliberating on what to do has become the thing I need to do.
Holy Week will forever be my favorite time of the year. It holds a special place in my heart and I always feel closer to our Lord ❤️ I pray each of you spend time with Christ in the coming days.
I’m having FOMO from church itself. I work overnights at a pharmacy 7 days straight this week and it’s an awful job. Lord be with me. Edit: just finished the video and it’s so hard to be present at that job. My mind wanders or it’s baked in negativity about it but God is strengthens me to be at a point to be thankful and to be present even in the darkest of times

This is a wonderful insight Father Mike. We all need constant reminders of this. We get so caught up in yhe everyday, in every way, that we forget to get back to basics, and exist in the present moment with our bodies, mind, and spirit. Sounds so easy, it is so hard, especially when we find it familiar and comforting to do as we've been doing and not interupt our patterns. Hence needing these frequent reminders to do so! Thank you!

this is our humanity and continual need for repentance. Imagine a world where we didn't need God because we are so perfect. Recognising our weakness is a blessing, confession is a blessing and Gods love never says you've run out of forgiveness.

When I’m listening to you, I am present and I know I’m where I am supposed to be……God led me to you ❤. I’ve heard of FOMO and the older I get, the more patience I have to truly listen, learn. Thanks Fr Mike, for your continued presence in all of our lives. Due to working two jobs, I was unable to make mass for several years, got lost in faith kind of…..but hallow and your pod casts have made me fall in love with the church again, faith. First time in my life I’ve prayed everyday, still only get 2 of 5 on daily trivia, but I’m learning. I love hallow, there is so much to explore and try, nighttime prayers for my fellow insomniacs….just so very thankful. I'm a candidate and had my feet washed on Holy Thursday which was humbling. Also brought the Holy Chrism to the priest. My catechumen friends got baptised, confirmed, and communed tonight at the vigil. I'll be confirmed on Pentecost. Must be patient!

Father Mike, a person had told me to watch your videos. She kept saying to me "Your will!" "Your will be done!" emphatically and forcefully meaning the Lords will. Hearing your words makes it really difficult not to fear. Death and punishment because there have been death threats.

I AM SO CONFUSED ABOUT LIFE RIGHT NOW… fomo is bad but not the regular fomo of going to a cool event or whatever if not a life fomo anyway… i feel so overwhelmed about life lately and i even missed church this Sunday…

A mass is a conversation between you and god….god is constantly trying to make us holy….
Conversations between you and God do happen at Mass, yes. But not every conversation is a Mass.

Being present was my focus during lent. I gave up distraction .
I think about the fact that the Garden of Gethsemane was basically the last time the Apostles were close to Jesus before his death - the last precious hours where they could've been right next to Him, not to mention with Him in His struggles. They were about to lose Him - and of course regain Him in a new and unimaginable way, but everything was about to change. And they missed that opportunity to be with Him, because they thought they had all the time in the world still. We don't really know when our last conversation with someone will be. We don't know how much time with them we have left. As a Polish priest poet said, "Let us make haste to love people, they leave so soon". You also don't know how many Easters, how many Sundays, how many masses you have left yourself.
And this is not a call to despair if you didn't use every opportunity perfectly. But it is so important to give your full attention to the moment you're in as much as you're able to.
Be Present. This is where you’re supposed to be.
This is more profound than most understand.
