- Luca 'Tutti Frutti' Malaguti is a professional freediver and owner of Sea to Sky freediving. We were in Greenland as part of a team filming a short for Movember, and in between takes we'd explore a bit under the icebergs there, which is where we made this photo. It's available for print here: www.daanverhoeven.com/

Special shout out to Brian Hockenstein / brianhockenstein and Tim Emmett / timemmett for keeping us safe, Oceaner Wetsuits / oceanerfreediving for keeping us warm, Alchemy / alchemy_hellas for the amazing fins, and to Luke Adams / lukeadamspk who was mad enough not only to come up with the plan that got us all there, but then to also do it.
Music is 'Into the breath' by Michele Nobler

Impressive. Looks scary, but incredibly beautiful and peaceful too. The ice boulders look fluffy, like swimming through snow.
i was very nervous about it - until i got underneath and it was just stunning, so beautiful. The strange visibility gave it a bit of a cloud like feeling, yes.
That was absolutely beautiful and peaceful.
Thank you - I was surprised how gorgeous things are under the ice
Very relaxing watching you! I do swim and dive from time to time but being in control like you do it is very impressive. Thank you for this beautiful moment. Well done.
Thank you! Have you thought about taking a freedive course? You sound like you'd enjoy it!
Beautiful! These videos are so underrated.
Thank you! Much appreciate you saying that
Woooow!
Спасибо!,, 👍
Thank you!
Sembrano immagini di una immersione sui un altro pianeta da film di fantascienza ....bellissimo
Grazie Sandro!
Incredibly beautiful, and dangerous. I found myself holding my breath, and gasping for air in sympathy. 😄 Thank you for exploring the world, and sharing it with us. ❤
Our pleasure! Yes, i wouldn't have attempted this without the help of some experts looking over the safety aspects
@@DaanVerhoeven I’m the same Andréa, but different picture. 👋🏼 😄 I know you’re the consummate professional, and artist.
ha! I didn't recognise you at first!
Incredibile. Great movie! 💪
Thank you Riccardo!
Подлёдные погружения самые эфектные💥💥💥Спасибо Daan!!!
I agree - this was my first time under the ice, and hopefully not the last! Amazing!
Wonderful, as ever!
Thank you - Greenland is incredible!
Love it! What caused the "blurriness" of the water, especially at the beginning of the video? Temperature difference?
Thank you! It's pretty wild: it's fresh water turning to ice, as it hits the salt water which is -2 degrees. So it mostly happens when you disturb the layers.
I would so love to do that some day! Awesome video again, Daan! 💙
Thank you Tommi - would love to see your take on Greenland!
Wow, Daan! Great video! Hold my breath instinctively :)
I love it when that happens!
🤜🏼 SUPERB 🤛🏼
Thank you! ❄️💙
Amazing, thanks for sharing.
Definitely a pleasure - thank you for your comment!
Wow this is incredible love ya werk as always Daan !
Thank you Anthony!
Does everyone realise that this man can hold his own breath for that long and has no air tank?! This is amazing wow I'm blown away
Took a few years of training!
lungs are his air tank💀

Beautiful
Thank you Sandro!
Great video! Thanks!
Glad you liked it!
So ancient and otherworldly! I loved the tiny air bubbles dancing underneath the surface of the ice like little creatures! Do you ever run into any wildlife in the Frozen Waters? Thank you so much it was beautiful.
Thank you! We saw seals on the ice, but regretfully nothing underneath.
@@DaanVerhoeven someday you will! ;-)
🤞🏽
Wow !
This is absolutely spectacular !
So beautiful and amazing.
Thank you Elád!
Unbelievable! I ve seen so many films with seals, polar bears and narwhals in this scenario. But a man????? Totally radical! Congrats to you all! What was the water temperature? Cheers
Thank you! It was -1 degree Celsius on my watch; turns out salt water freezes over somewhere between -2 and -4
wow !
💙❄️🦭
Wow, what a view
it was so bright down there, and so massive! Completely took me off guard
@@DaanVerhoeven I bet it almost removes you from this world in transport you, into another one. This one is hardly ever seen by anyone else who isn't a diver. I bet it felt more spiritual than anything.
yes, it was remarkably calm - but that kind of calm you get just before a storm. You could just feel the momentous powers at work here being in a precarious balance, and you could see how bits of it had broken off and other bits got stuck on.
@@DaanVerhoeven, I didn't see that I was more worried for you. Not being able to find your way back up?
that was pretty easy: the icebergs are very light, the sea around is much darker, so you swim towards the darker bit
😲SURREAL.....!!🙊
yes, totally!
Divine!
Thank you - it did feel a bit like an underwater ice cathedral
Very nice!
Thank you Marcin!
Awesome. 👍
Thank you John!
@@DaanVerhoeven No. We thank you for the nice recording. 😀
Absolutely amazing as always. Merry Christmas and advance Happy New Year 🎉 Daan 🇵🇭♥️
Thank you Ren - happy new year to you too!

❄️ ice!
Daan. A complete pleasure to freeze my bullocks with you on this project. 🙏 Can't wait for the next one. 🤟
Yes - never have numb extremities been more worth it!
Brrrrrr! 🥶🥶🥶
yes - my watch said it was -1, and i didn't know the watch could go below 0
Brrr! You are definitely 2 cool 4 me!
hahaha, i have yet to defrost!
@@DaanVerhoeven My arctic friend does that in shorts and sends me videos. Why???
yes, a friend of mine does it in her bathing suit - apparently a bit of it is healthy? I swim in my shorts in the sea here and it's 10 degrees, and that's already a bit overwhelming.
Very nice. I guess your cold training paid off lol.
yes - though the first time i put my face in that water was still quite shocking!

Melhor canal de mergulho do mundo 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻😀
Thank you Ednei - that's very kind of you to say, but you should check out Guillaume Néry's channel: www.youtube.com/@guillaumenery
@@DaanVerhoeven Very Nice Man, thank you🙏🏻
OMG! So beautiful. One doubt that I had; does cold affect the capacity to hold your breath or is it the same as in warm waters?
Theoretically it should enhance it: more pronounced and earlier dive response, and your metabolic rate might also go down a bit. But only till the point where you start shivering, because there you'd start burning more oxygen just to stay warm, i reckon.
@@DaanVerhoeven Thanks for the reply.
Nice
❄️ ice!
🤯
🥶
Wow so fasinating and relaxing thank you for sharing this with us. One question, why did you choose a 30p delivery instead of 23,976p or 25p ?
well, i shot it on both a Canon R5 and a gopro hero 10, both at 60 fps, and the footage links up a bit better at 30
💕💕💕💕🙏🙏🎉🎉

genial Sie sind der BESTE anna von Kleve
Danke Anna!
How can he equalize the mask having noseclip?
It's tricky - i put it on just tight enough that i can still eq my mask and my ears at the same time. Basically i'm leaking air into my mask as i constant pressure.
Extra
yes, very extra!
I love this song where can I find it
it's called 'Into the breath' by Michele Nobler, i found it on artlist
How nice😄🫶
thank you!
let me guess, then we went to the sauna!
I wish! We were on a boat with a steel floor! But the house we were in was really nice and warm
@@DaanVerhoeven Thank you for inviting us to this dive, respect.
Greetings from Heidelberg Germany
my pleasure!
You crazy guys: ))
Hahaha, we're not crazy, we're Popsicles
