Everyone is in such a rush. You want to live in a village then you have to respect rural life and how farms work. I guess they may also complain about noisy chickens and church bells!!
Always love watching combines working.Back in 1975 as a 19 yr old I drove my first combine, a Massey Ferguson 625, no air conditioned cabs then.2 Massey 188 on the trailers .Great memories..
Here's a bit of nostalgia do U remember farmer's diary it was on a Sunday lunchtime on Anglia TV love to watch that giving a farming update for the week but now a day's it's you guys that keep us up to date so keep U the good work love your channel and PX agri channel
Thank you. I remember that really well. Watch tomorrow’s update, you might be in for a surprise, I know James Peck very well!!
Good luck with the cooling 😎
Superb update! I love seeing combines at work, would love to ride on one. Never seen the attaching and detaching of header and fitting on header trailer. I play Farming Simulator a lot,and assumed that in real life it would be much more difficult! I love how you always show the nitty gritty of arable farming. Rode past Bailey Trailers factory on the train a couple of days ago they certainly make a lot of them. 😀
They make about 35 a week!
Good to see you have started harvest Andrew, it was my biggest bug bearer when I drove balers when the combine just turned and put straw everywhere. It is nice to know some people do think of the the following operation, only wish I could be following your combine . Hope your yields get better on the heavier land. be nice to have small updates through out the harvest .
Brilliant to see a combine driver thinking about the baler man. I had many a year messing about on headlands trying to gather up all those thin "S" shaped swathes.
Me too , can,t hurt combine productivity much to slow down like Reuben,s doing
Cracking. Always like this time of the year. I'm glad you mentioned turning out of the rows on the headlands. There are plenty of clips out there where as soon as the last sheath is taken up by the header the driver i swinging the back end round and leaving that S shape. I feel sorry for the baler driver who has to follow them. Updates- Little and often will do us. We know time is pressing for you.
Great to see harvest under way after a difficult winter. As always, very informative videos and I’m sure I speak for everyone in our appreciation of all the effort you put in to these. Good luck with the yields.
Thank you. 👍
Good to see that harvest as begun for you Short stubble will make cultivating easy Hope weather window stays for a successful harvest
Really enjoyed that, it was Dad's world and he would have loved this. My memories are of five giant Claysons going around the field outside our house in formation. That probably gives Dad's employer away but I don't think that matters. They also used to take two combines to Burton Coggles from Welton! Dad said that wasn't popular especially through Lincoln, no by-pass in those days, via Monks road I think as some inconsiderate Romans stuck a ruddy great arch at the top of Lindum hill!
😂😂😂
Great content from a former cereal farmer of the year I believe?👍
Having been part of well over 50 harvests- I drove a MF 500 for my first full harvest in 1975 at the age of 15, I marvel at the sheer scale, & technological advancement that we see today. The latest combines cut nearly 20 meter swaths and harvest hundreds of tonnes per days. The incredible efficiency that, in just a few brief properly dry days, sees hundreds of thousands of tonnes safely harvested and stored by a fraction of the country’s population is a massive accomplishment.
This ability is becoming particularly important as we take on the effects of global warming and disrupted weather patterns.
I am! The advancements in tech is amazing.
Great to see you starting your harvest. Hope the crops get better for you.your combine looks like a brand new one .credit to yous.
Great update thanks Andrew hope you can keep the combine rolling. Update as and when you can and convenient for yourself. Many thanks Tom Macpherson
Always an exciting time of the year Andrew, thanks for taking the time to do an update.
It may be nine years old Andrew, but it's still the best looking Combine on UA-cam. Another great update 👍👍
Nothing worse than fish tails on the headlands for baler drivers. Great to see good work.
Good update Andrew nice to see the combine running looking forward to next one
Thanks Andrew, great update. I like the idea of doing these videos through the week. Looking forward to the next one. 😎
That was just as informative as your normal video Andrew. Keep this up and you should see an increase in Subs, this is very useful info your giving us. Not too surprised at the yield figures, little surprised at the temp of the grain though. Thanks for the effort your putting in, but hopefully things will improve. See you next time,. Best wishes as usual.
👍😊
Your Doing a Brilliant job with the combine a real credit to your work man.
Andrew, yes, more updates during the week & about the same length as this is good for me. Keeping the straw rows straight means the baler gets more of it, & you have less to deal with in following cultivations, regards, Tim Whitehead
Cheers Tim, hope you’re ok.
Brilliant update andrew good to see you combining, rueben is a good operator, nice level low cut stubble, its a farming life for me andy on here chops the headlands then puts the straw down in the land work so when he turns round he doesn't make so much of a mess mainly in wheat straw he does it, hope the weather stays kind for you.
Yes, Reuben is really particular.
@@WardysWaffleAndrewWard like his boss
😂😂👍
Fascinating to watch! Nice surprise to see an update so early in the week! The present Mrs Rob has made me leave Lincolnshire, Apple Macs and magazine production kicking and screaming for a week away in Northumberland. We’re staying in a lovely place surrounded by wheat fields, as yet uncombined… few more up and downy bits around here, mind you. I’m hoping that harvest will continue back in Lincolnshire for a few weeks and it won’t all be done whilst I’m away!
You’ll need to be quick, another few days and most will be done here!
Good luck with your harvest😊
Great to see you've started. Always going to be tricky yield and quality wise until your in the field and then finally in store. Shame JCB playing up. Hope weather keeps dry for combining and straw.
Hi Andrew. Glad to see harvest is up and running mate let’s hope it goes stress free. Yes I’ve seen many a argument between and bailer driver and combine driver because off the s bend at the end of the row 😂😂
Great to see the lovely grain flowing from the combine.
I am on a baler again for this harvest and it does make a difference if the combine driver slows down and let most the straw come out the combine before turning. Also it would be interesting to know the difference in fuel consumption on the combine. Leaving it in rows rather than chopping it should save you a fair bit of fuel🙂
I’ll have some good figures at the end of harvest so will compare to years of chopping and put it in an update.
great to see you start on harvest stay safe good luck
Great update good to see the harvest on your farm.
Nice tyres on the trailer Ba`h keep ah trashing ,straws looks as it would burn lovely in those neat high rows lol
Beautiful barley straw, I would be more then happy to follow your combine with a baler.
Good update. Glad you got going
Pleased you are doing more videos. Thank you for keeping the good work up.
Great update, nice to see the combine working.
Thanks for your harvest 24 vid little and often keeps our interest.
If the Townies don't like what the countryside brings, stay away would be my advice, remember where you food comes from !!
Sadly, a lot of people have no idea where food comes from or how it grows. A neighbouring farmer was asked why they stuck the brussel sprouts onto stalks.
Great vid, terrific machinery
Things have moved on a bit since I relied on a cab-less Ransomes 1001 combine in the 1970s.
We had an 801 and looked forward to the day when we might get a Cavalier 😁
I would ignore what people who live in villages and the edge of farmland who are anti farmers, and farming. Remember you can never win an argument with an idiot.
Opinions will change when they're hungry. Shall we call them Olivers?
Even less possible to reason with a left wing idiot , which most of them are
Great update that a17 is a nightmare the amount of traffic 😳
enjoying the updates
ALWAYS interesting Andrew
Great video Andrew
I remember a time when you could build castles out bales, they were so small compared to today.
Make a different spout for the end of auger , so the tractor and trailer doesn't drive over straw. you have enough room between the header and straw bout. a wet night then the straw will probably need tedded
We probably won’t bale for a few years
Um and I was thinking not a lot of residual in the JCB handy to have in the shed just for when needed, dropping down to one wheeled tractor could be testing, combine will be using a lot less fuel this year, good point from James Peck re invest straw money into organic muck.
0:13 great content again
Yes you are on the ball Andrew got to get in now sun here at last any way see later this week .
In Norway we have essentially two qualities of wheat; milling wheat, for making bread etc and feed wheat, for sheep, pigs, cattle etc. Wheat with hl/kg lower than 76 kg/hl will be payed of as feed wheat. Is it the same limit you refer to at 72 kg/hl? 72 and above equals milling wheat for bread making etc? Appreciate your videos - good luck with the harvest!
Were the same,
Great update
It will be interesting to see how much less diesel the combine uses without the straw chopper going
Always remember years ago when the combine driver had a rag tied around his nose and mouth luckily times have changed
Really good video today well done” are you going to upgrade your combine nxt season new Holland or John dear
With 1/3 of the farm not growing crops the combine will have to wait.
I wish you told my old boss about stopping the combine just to get the struggle out. It was a bugger bail in after him.
Look on the bright side, you'll save a fortune in diesel not running the chopper this year.
Excellent advice, not enough drivers think about the baler drivers 👍
more the better
It will be interesting to see if there’s any difference in litres/ha on the fuel used on the combine over the harvest as you’re swathing the straw instead of chopping it.
Yeah, thanks Andy
keep them coming
Great to see your 2024 harvest is now underway. A quick question about the combine. How long do you normally keep them before replacing and will you stay with NH the next time?
I hope you and the guys stay safe.
Thankyou.
We normally keep about 7 years but we swapped the Quadtrac’s for the RX 2 years ago which threw our replacement policy in the air.
First time I have heard of a combine operator being considerate for a baler operator
Wott Wot an interesting video
Bob's your uncle, Fanny's your aunt and I'm your sister Kate! That's what I was taught to say.
Or
Bobs your aunties live-in lover
😂😂😂😂👍
Always a bit eager to push corn too hard, quite easy to push back wall out.
Do you prefer tracks or tyres on vehicles or both and why?
Tracks for less compaction
Could I ask the variety of the low bushel weight wheat ? I've got a good guess in my head what it might be but curious to know
Cranium
How many trailer loads of grain does it take to pay the glyphosate & fungicide bill Wardy ?! 🤔😉😆
🤦♂️😂
Too many cars on the road with only one passenger in England.
👍👍👍👍🐝🐝🐝🐝🚜🚜🚜🚜
How much a tonne for the barley straw??🤔
Not sure yet, maybe £85 ish
There are always Kevin's and Karens, who like to have there voice heard, even if it's a load of rubbish coming out of Thier mouths.
😂😂
NEVER electronic probs on my MF 362 or add blue probs
How many acres do you farm, andrew?
Look at update 64,65 and 66.
@@WardysWaffleAndrewWard okay thanks
I had 3 farms up to 18 miles apart , all cereals etc . The A 6 , and the A 45 plus local roads . However long it took I was never as totally rude and inconsiderate, , not to mention illegal as the combine driver from your village , holding up probably 50 or more vehicles behind him . Absolutely disgraceful , and selfish behavior . He should be prosecuted . I NEVER EVER allowed more than 3 / 4 vehicles to follow me . 😤
3-4 vehicles? We’d never move. The A17 is the busiest single carriage way A road in the country. He’d been in the road less than a mile and he was turning off the A17 just past our yard, not selfish at all
Some people have no common sense unfortunately Andrew.
Can't consider a wide machine would struggle to get off the road and still allow two lanes off traffic to pass. Plus as you said, he was only going a mile or so not ten, also its a few times a year, not everyday.
I wonder if he'd be grateful of a tow when and if it snows or the farmer clearing a fallen tree after a storm? Such anger at
A few extra minutes to a journey.
Also, look on the bright side... could have been a caravan. 😮😊
Google the A17 and you’ll see it carries 1,250 vehicles every hour, to use your 3 or 4 vehicle view, we get those 4 vehicles every 12 seconds!!!
Ignore him Andrew. All the best to you and your TEAM for the harvest. 😊
