I love watching you UK guys work on this stuff because it makes my situation feel so much easier in the USA lol. Jealous of those stone roofs and brickwork though.
I used to do loft conversions, i stopped using padstones and switched to mild steel spreader plates 100x300x25mm much easier and you're not waiting for compo to go off.
I’m loving modern loft conversions, they are so “today” regarding free extra space etc..The only thing I have found is that many do suffer from unbearable over-heat during very long sunny periods, that make sleeping up there quite difficult…🤔
Quality videos, just spent about an hour straight watching 🤣 Can't get my head around how the structural engineer never specified steels and then at least a 6x 2 timber. I've never seen a loft converted with 4x2 timbers just off the wall plate, central weight bearing wall and the opposite wall plate. So much easier and CHEAPER this way than 3 steals (1 fixed into each party walls one end 1 fixed opposite side into each party wall and then one at the ridge)
Sorry lads, I'm now on day 4 and can see the steels going in to hold the new floor. Maybe I've had too much UA-cam and my brains now mush, but why did you put the timbers in here?
For once someone asking a decent question !! The property was built in the 50’s so the cement used then was the sort of material used today.. so the structural engineer wanted today’s practices/materials used.. cheers for pointing it out tho 🤙🤙
Repent to Jesus Christ! Are you a sinner? Mark 2:17 King James Version 17 When Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

Thanks mate I’ll have a look at that method on the next one 👍
Interesting job doing loft conversions.
Worth highlighting the Party Wall Agreement that's needed for the padstone works here. Many people forget this part (or simply don't know).
👍👍

Its the UK, we dont have very long sunny periods.
@@Festivejelly can’t argue with that.
You can get a portable air conditioner in LIDL for 150 quid these days.
Yep, 10 minutes is pretty quick. Do you charge by the hour?
No mate by the minute 😂

Hi mate, he did specify a 150 x 90 PFC ridge beam which is what we bolted that 5x2 in to the web, and a 152 x 152 UC 46 under the ashlar wall 👍
Mate tell me about it.. I spend many a night down the U tube rabbit hole 😂
X
10 mins was fast mate your right
Should the pad stone have been mortered using lime mortar and not sand/cement as the building looks older construction?
For once someone asking a decent question !!

Theres one on youtube done and dusted in under 10 days using the steel purlin and floor system.
Always use your skill saw beside you not in front ,
Cheers buddy.. I’ll bare that in mind next time
A buddy of mine used to work with a guy that did a loft conversion in half an hour.
Because the weight is off, cutting a hole in the roof will not undermine the structural integrity of the roof………..
Judging by those views I would say that’s Ashford…my home town!
10min is quick? I've seen it done in 3min!
We do the next one in 2 mins..
I can't get anyone even to quote in Swindon.
Try offering a work budget that you know you can raise, and then see who bites! (Still be prepared for at least a two year wait though!)
Jezus, will you look at that wiring 🤦♂️
What the existing wiring ??
Repent to Jesus Christ!
