This little film will possibly remain the most special to everyone of us at Borno Anonyo, who made it. The film lies deep in our hearts and of all those, who see magic in the mundane and dream like a child. Birpurush was written by Rabindranath Thakur in the year 1903; Neel Nirbashon, published in the year 1985, and this film, made in 2020. What holds these three moments in history together that they can come to us as one? It may possibly be the child who is now and eternal. And everywhere. Scattered in time. Just like his play.
This video was made with the everyday toys of a child who just turned 4, toys that we picked up from here and there, now and then. When the entire world is home bound and locked down, we realise anew that dreams have immense possibility just as they invoke tragedy. We live everyday this triumph and tragedy as we film like a ‘play’, a journey through time, in a time that is epoch making, in disease and death, storm and homelessness.
One evening the Laal bari turned into a play house and everyone in it, the child whose toys became ours too just like his dreams. The horse had a broken face, the sparrow, only one leg, the little torch, a loose connection and the mother doll, in a frail state. The sun was the only newest present. But the make belief Birpurush was falling too often. Frail and failing, like his own number writing, we finally managed to make it.
A play it may only be, a call that comes barely but dream will come to us still, to see a world that we have faith we shall see. ‘বোকারা স্বপ্ন দেখে পৃথিবী টা কে নতুন করে সাজাবার।’ আমরা আজ সেই স্বপ্ন দেখবো বলেই আবার গাইছি, লিখছি ,কষ্ট পাচ্ছি ,ক্লান্ত হয়ে পড়ছি। ফিনিক্স এর ছাই থেকে উঠে আবার স্বপ্ন দেখছি। আমরা বর্ণ অনন্য। আমরা আরো অনেকেই যারা স্বপ্ন দেখবো বলে আজও বেঁচে আছি।
This rendition is a tribute to Harsha Dasgupta who wrote the song and to Prabuddha Banerjee and Indrajit Sen of Nagar Philomel who sang, arranged and published this song. It is also a tribute to the times of our youth.

This is excellent. Most of hearing this, know both Birpurush and Tomader Sondhye Gulo, but drawing a parallel between these two is where Borno Aronyo shines.

নবমিতা,তোমাদের বর্ণকে ঘিরে এত সুন্দর পরিকল্পনা বড়ো হবার পথে প্রেরণা জোগাবে। এটা চিরন্তন। কারণ আমার মা আমার ভাইকে কথা বলার মত বয়েসে এই কবিতা গল্পের মত করে বলে পরে মুখস্থ করিয়েছিলেন। সেটা ওর মধ্যে সেই যে মাকে ভালোবাসা,শ্রদ্ধায় রেখেছিল তা মায়ের শেষদিন পর্যন্ত ছিল। অনেক কথা এখানে বলা হয়ে গেল। তুমি, পিকু, বর্ণ তোমরা সবাই ভালো থেকো ।আনন্দে থেকো।
