Just use 2 AirTags. One really obvious and one hidden.
Send me $50
I got the correct Stealth Tag size for my mountain bike with Fox 32 forks, and it was worthless. It didn't stay inside the fork tube, and would've fallen out as soon as I hit the first bump. I tried using a little of the removable-type LocTite to encourage it to stay in, but that didn't work either. Additionally, the tag holder began to disintegrate around the sides. I don't know if the LocTite caused this, but I think the main reason for that was that it's 3-D printed. You can see the lines of progressive plastic that were added as it was created by 3-D, and that seems to be what makes it inherently inherently weak. I wouldn't recommend it, and won't buy another.
Nice summary! I was considering the bottle cage one for a while, however KNOG is now making a bike alarm that has the find-my functionality like the AirTags and will also emit an alarm if the bike is moved. Should come out to be the same price vs. airtag+holder.
It's great, though it's direct-bt-connection only, with no access to bt mesh network of apple devices
Conversely, an airtag mounted under the bottle cage with some anti-tamper type bolt heads might be enough to just deter a potential thief to skip your bike which is ultimately the goal of all locks/deterrents. You have to make your bike less appealing to take. Seeing an air tag that's not easily removable but still easily seen/serviceable is a win IMO.
Chipolo is my go to. Love ya buddy!
That mucoff one is sick! I run a head tube one similar to the one you showed on my daughter’s bike but it uses a proprietary tool to remove it…. Which I lost. But the company sent me another.
Yesss thank you!
I was hoping to see signal comparison also. I would like to see this with the mud off valve stem, the head tube cap, and the bottle cage mount (the second one you showed with the security bolts).
nice vid man
Not sure where you ride, but in the front range of Colorado and well into the mountains in Colorado, we encounter people on the trails all the time. A bell is very important to have on a mountain bike unless you just like telling every single person you encounter that you’re coming up on their left or their right
So glad I moved somewhere better (not telling where). After CO, a full ride with no a single person for 1500 ft an 8 miles…literal heaven
Would love to see a review of the knog scout. It uses the apple 'find my' network but has some bike specific features as well.
thanks for the video...I just got a Rad Power electric bike and I have good bike locks (2) but I'm considering adding an airtag. If I do I will disable the speakers inside of it. Now,for mounting it on my bike, the only option I like is the fork cap-it's hidden and still works -I followed your link and it says it fits 23mm to 36mm...I measured the hole in my Rad bike and it's only 21mm!! I used plastic tube to measure it and the max is 21mm!! Oh man...I guess the hole diameter is no standard..so i guess this fork cap won't fit. I wonder if I can "Macgiver" this fork cap and make it fit? Just shave off a bit around it so that it fits? But then maybe I won't stay in securely...aye caramba! This would the perfect air tag bike holder. I cannot use a top cap headset and the bike bell is too obvious as is the rest of them. Is there a way to hide it in oversized pedals? Too bad that hiding it inside the frame blocks the signal. Thanks so much!
hey mane! you should consider doin a vid on ratios for different styles of riding, maybe including information on cogs / chainrings for beginners and what the difference between changing a cog vs chainring is. your recommended ratios and parts ? that be dope! @FOAD
You should add the PinHead TagBox. While it is not small, on a city bike, it just blends in with all the other crap on the bike- racks, baskets, stickers, etc. It is hard to get off the bike for a thief and easy to install and service. We have 2 of them. I think I'll try the security bolt water bottle option for my road bike.
Hello, which one would you recommend for a Brompton? I don’t think most of these, apart from the bell and the reflector, would fit on one?
Even if you disable a speaker it is still possible to locate AirTag using precise finding (available on iPhone11 and later).
Actually it is possible to create an AirTag clone tracker which will be not detectable by phones automatically (iPhone will not notify you).
So it there are significant demand it is possible to start manufacturing.
Great video, I’m planning to install AirTag on my new bike just thought I will stick it inside my seatpost is it gonna connect well though?
Inside the seatpost (aero-shaped) is the first thing I thought about, but it prevents the AirTag from communicating with the outside sadly (I did a test). At least with an aluminium seatpost
Exactly what Maxime said. Also, most seatpost sizes will be too small of diameter to fit the airtag.
We test it with Carbon seatposts. And it works 👍🏼
Yeah I got a aero seatpost (alloy) in my cinelii viogrelli was thinking about tossing it in there but guess I need to dump this idea now and think of something else, the seatpost clamp from your video looks clean but very visible maybe sticking it in under the seat will work?
Pivotal seat idea - tape the airtag inside the seat
Wethepeople smuggler pivotal seat!!!!
Inside seat post???
Have the AirTag bell installed. Have gotten two bikes back thanks to it. And a thief caught by the police.
can u pleade make half cab tutorial for fixed gear?
Some of the reflector mounts are designed so you can swap the reflector for a Varia radar, so for a road bike I don't think they're trash
Would you recommend putting a label "GPS Tracked" on the handle bars so the thief would be deterred? Or would that help them?
Why not? The object is to not have your bike stolen. I’ve had two bikes stolen now. A third isn’t going to happen. I think a sign, motion detection light(s), alarm(s), tracker(s), lock(s) and a camera are all in play when I receive my next bike.
Interesting that you can decide yourself if you want a bell or reflector. In most EU countries it is the law, that you have to have it including white reflectors at the front in Germany. I'm in Denmark where reflectors and bells has to be mounted on every new bike in the shops. This is about being seen if your light is not working - a light bulp is broken.
Ha. Bulp. It's "bulb." But . . . Good for you using English. I can't speak or write a single word of Danish.
I have 2 airtags one of them beeps everytime i leave the bike for hours and come back to it it rings. How do i get it to shut up and quit doing that?
You can disable the speaker, instructions online
Video idea, bro u should show us the journey u had learning tricks, what was ur first trick u learned? What was the first bike u did your first trick on? I’m pretty interested in how you became so good 😭
There's one I found called Bikebac, kind of like the knog scout but simpler and the same price of an airtag.
Very interesting!
I was able to remove my AirTag from the stealth tag in about 3s by following their video step. Just push really hard on one edge of the back onto a table.
Good to know!
Please do a stolen bike story time video! I am curious how you recovered it. I got 2 bikes stolen and not be able to recover it. also, please include a bike check of the "thief build" that is too funny lol
We gave our new tenant a really REALLY nice cruiser bike to ride to the local City College and back. After a couple months or so, she "lost" the bike and didn't even bother to mention this fact. We noticed the bike was not around for several days. THEN . . . I was reading "Lost & Found" on Craigslist and some dude was advertising that he "found" a bike and, by its description, I began to put two and two together. I contacted him. Sure enough ----- it was "our" bike! The bike I didn't even know was MIA. What are the chances? Turns out this guy had seen some shady character stashing the bike in the alley behind the apartments where he ( the "found your bike" guy) lived. He was such a cool dude ----- and extremely cautious. He made me send over pics I had of the bike and then he grilled me when I went to his place to pick it up. Our tenant barely batted an eyelash (she really was a Dopey-Dora), when we brought home her bike. No expression of gratitude and not even the least bit motivated to thank the guy who found her bike. So much for trying to help out a tenant and a student. (Oh, yeah: She had "lost" the bike because she hadn't locked it up.)
Why do you like U-locks more than chains?
Interesting video. I would also listen to you talk about anything. xD
Foad gang ;*
Thank you for checking it out Ramsey!
What about a sim card tracker?
... I understand why an airtag will not work on/in a steel or alum frame ... but would they work in a carbon fiber frame ???
8:09
in my opinion on mtb it would be obvious as on mtb [idk about others] people usually leave or put top cap where u can see the bolt and for me it would look sus if i would see an mtb with top cap that cas no bolt
you should never mount your airtag outside it will become totally point less , you need to think as a bike thief , so you need to hide your airtag INSIDE YOUR BIKE yes inside
you should hide it inside your bike, "INSIDE" your bicycle frame , FORK, seat post , unscrew your saddle and put it inside your bicycle saddle , inside handle bar remember "INSIDE" just make sure it stay hidden ,I manage to put 4 apple airtag and 2 momax Pintag "INSIDE MY BIKE " total six air tag I gotta say im very impress with the result
it help track my bike within 3 hours after it got stolen last week and call police to help recover my bike within 5 hours it got stolen , and catch the thief
i did that but i can't track my airtag anymore so it didnt work
Olight makes a light with an airtag mount, but it's not a bike light, it's more something you hang on a backpack or a dog collar.
i would run the airbell. damn
I think that people who ride bmx AND pegs on the wheels don't really have to worry about wheels getting stolen. Nobody will be walking around with the tools to take of pegs
new airtag
A more importanconcern should be is IF and when you find your bike , is it going to be sitting out in the open u attended or is it more likely to be in the possession of the thief or buyer . it he first scenario is highly unlikely so expect a possible physical confrontation . yes you might get lucky and have the police assist you but that's not likely so bring a crew with you or know how to fight. i would say focus on theft prevention instead or recovery
Docking a point for a challenging install when you could literally take seat off, turn it upside down and install in 30 seconds…. lol
STORY TIME TALKING VIDEO!!!! sorry didn't mean to yell but bike stealing story and rly just any story U got will be good content :)
Honestly they all suck and I just super glued mine to the bottom of the fork in a position where I can change the battery of it without removing it
knog scout
Are airtags useful if the thief has a smartphone? Don't they get pinged that it has one?

Nice advice! Will have to look into this.
Tip from a pedant: The phrase is "that said," and NOT "that being said." Nice, informative vid. Thank you.
lol
Someone who is looking for a way to hide an AirTag on a bike is not necessarily going to be interested in whether or not a reflector adds function to their bike as long as much as it serves its intended, main purpose. Review was just ok for me. . .Judging people for having certain products or suggesting they'll look like a nerd tends to lessen the credibility of the reviewer. I get the effort to inject a little humor here and there, but it missed the mark for me.
Talk about your stolen bike. Emphasize how it made you feel. Cry if you have to.
🎵 It's my stolen bike and I'll cry if I want to
