thanks for this video. i bought the same adapter online but had no idea what to do with the included cable since my PSU already has a floppy plug. but now I know.
While you can use this in two modern machines it fails if you copy a file onto a floppy and try to read it on an old machine. This makes it useless for transferring CNC files to the older CNC machines that use floppies. :(
It was a rubber cover on it from Unicomp. I hate it when dust slowly but surely tries to settle under keys. My new main keyboard, the PC 122 version of the Model M by Unicomp, does not have one at the moment.
you can get these on EBay for around $19.00... You are better better buying a whole ready made (new) USB Floppy drive just under $10.00 (they are smaller built and plug-n-play corded USB connector)...
@@boggsty This adapter can't either, just tried, even with CMD on Windows 10 where it is still supported, I get the error message that "this parameter is not supported by the device"

My life is complete. I can die happy now.
Will it work with a 5 1/2 inch floppy drive?
Nope, sadly.
I have the same question: Will it work with a 5 1/2 inch floppy drive?
Nope.

Where did you find the adapter?
See part 2 in the video description! Thanks!

@@steve4510 that's true, but almost If not all of them can't read or format any other than 2HD disks, which is a shame.

It's a shame it doesn't work reliable. Better off buying an external usb floppydrive for around the same price.
There's a furry on your screen! Is that you????
This adapter is not 100% reliable.
