Absolutely! People at the end screaming for more, and what a killer ending huh? Mechanix drives everyone crazy a lot. Fuckin awesome.

I was there and they were awesome. In the early 2000s and today Metallica couldn't touch Megadeth live and the amazing energy they displayed. MEGADAVE all the way!
Man this was such a good performance to.. It was also my first Megadeth show.. Right down the front to the left of Dave.
Couldn't have asked for a better show.. James was a lot of fun you don't get to really see it but he's really bouncing with the audience. Rocking the new albums cover to. Sleepwalker being a new song to.. It lit the place on fire the entire place flocked (there were 3) to the main stage for Megadeth.. Unbelievably brutal setlist.. Just brutal fast metal all the way though. Download that year really felt like a moment in time where everyone was competing to be the most heavy badass at Download and without a doubt Megadeth took that cake.. Wove classic songs with the new masterfully.. Energy didn't let up the whole 45 minutes.
I think this might be the best performance of this lineup.. Shame it was so short but they got like 13 or 14 bands though the days lineup... The main headliners was actually the one people cared less to see.. You basically had to choose who you were going to see from the time sheet.. So while Megadeth was playing on the main stage.. Saosin on stage 2 and Job for a Cowboy on stage 3.. By all reports they didn't have much of an audience because there was about 100,000 that came to Megadeth capacity was 120,000 that year..
On the main stage that year they had Zigo Chain, Buckcherry, Hinder, Megadeth, DragonForce, Wolfmother, Velvet Revolver and the show stopper...... My Chemical Romance. 🤣
As you can see there Megadeth is middle of the day's package.. First real big band to actually come out and they happened to have weak competition on the other stages.. But you can see some of the trends of the time in the placement of bands.. DragonForce after Megadeth.. That only happens because of the meme that was Though the Fire and Flames in that moment.. Its also a UK focused billing.. So where their latest album landed is where they are placed.. In the UK perspective.. So Buckcherry happened to do quite well not as well as Megadeths newest album.. DragonForce are also a UK based band.. So that to factors in them being above Megadeth on the bill.. The don't sell better than Megadeth and didn't then.. That single though was huge at the time. Wolfmother very popular at the time don't believe they would get the spot now.. Velvet Revolver was because of Slash their 2 albums to that point had done well but it was star power that got them up the bill.. My Chemical Romance at the time of 07 were gigantic sales magnets but its was only about 2 years later that they seemed to no longer register.. Huge then nothing in a short time band.. Iron Maiden did close out the whole festival that year it was a great festival good vibes.. Stages made sense you didn't end up moving around to much to see who you wanted to.. Good stuff..
I mention the placement stuff for a reason because of the bands that were mentioned here only 1 of them has gone up the rankings on the bill.. And that's Megadeth.. 3 years later they came back and were now of a lineup of 9 3rd below only Rage Against the Machine and Deftones.. 2 years later in 2012 same slot with Soundgardan and Black Sabbath to close.. And then their last appearance was 2016 where they again remained in the same slot with Deftones and Black Sabbath closing.. Festival hasn't been on since 2019.. Cancelled for 2 years and I'm not sure they are able this year but it should be back in 2023.. And Megadeth will be billable and with a new album to promote.. With James back on the bass.. Match made in heaven.. I also expect them to move up the bill as this new album is likely to sell very well everywhere.
Glen was such a beast man, so underrated

I forgot how good Dave Mustaine sounded. He still had that 1990-92 vocal style.

I was fortunate to be there to the left of the stage, still have the pictures of Mustang I took from a disposable camera in my drawer.
This proves that Mustaine is the only true metal god. Megadeth at this point was in great shape with a completely new lineup which fans looked with reluctance... no Elefson, no Marty, no Menza... and still they nailed it . No other band would resist with so many changes and still pull out this monstrous performance. Just a shame that Dave can’t sing anymore like this.
I totally agree. I think Dave is thinking to call it quits after producing their last album that is going to be released soon. He can't sing anymore. They have to downtune almost to B, or drop B. And it's a shame. Megadeth always had a bestial lineup through all this years, that made them a complete beast live wise. If only Dave search for a singer with similar voice, although quite difficult, they can resist a little further but I think we are facing the last album from Megadeth.

@@globoscol Ao invés de procurar um outro vocalista, o Dave poderia dublar a própria voz gravada em estúdio. Muitos artistas fazem isso. Não vejo nada de mal se ele usasse playback para a voz, o importante seria ver o Megadeth ao vivo pra sempre.

RIP line up is considered as classic line up but its not even their 1st or second line up. Also, original line up is such an overrated thing in music. Bands like Maiden and Priest didnt even peak with original line up. How many Maiden fans would say they prefers Paul over Bruce? or Priest fans who prefers John Hinch over Scott Travis and Dave Holland?

I remember everyone chanting Megadeth all day… MCR had such a tough time headlining. Megadeth we’re on fire though, definitely the most popular band on the Friday. Should of headlined.

Although you two are not like David Ellefson left his labels in the best times of megadeth, he became an influential bassist in thrash metal and when he returned in 2010 he again left a great mark even won a Grammy and lo menzo It was just a replacement that resembled in the way of playing ellefson and does not transmit to me anything of metal its image even more so it does come from a glam band like witesnake.
