Cool conversation, I think sustainability in the built environment is an interesting challenge. One thing that has always made me scratch my head is that structures are typically designed for the 100 year event, however we don't even have 100 years of data to form a statistical basis on what that event can look like. I believe you are correct in that we need to look at the interconnected systems our projects are a part of as a means to design for widespread resilience. There are a lot of silos that will have to be connected to make that a reality (public and private organizations, engineering processes, etc), which brings great opportunities for start ups.
