- Join the concrete crew as we excavate one job, set up another patio, and do some of the work that was already done, one more time. Summer is just getting started but I am definitely feeling it. Enjoy
Let me understand this, you have people work for you, they get side jobs, they take time off to do those side jobs, even though you need them. Then you give them detailed instructions on how to do a task when they do choose to show up, they disregard your instructions, and they’re still employed at your company? Must be a new management style. I’m a retired masonry contractor, maybe things have changed that much. They wouldn’t be employed on any crew I was running.

One of my favorite things about watching this channel is coming to the realization that I'm not alone in my struggles. If you want it done right, sometimes you just have to do everything yourself.
You are at stage 2 management. Stage 1 is when you are an excellent worker and move up to be the boss. Stage 2 is when you are the boss and have to do everything yourself to get it done right. Stage 2 only works when you have a crew of about 7-10 people max as YOU only have so many hours in a day
You want to be a stage 3 boss. A stage 3 boss learns that in order to grow you have to rely on people to do the work.
The trick is learning how to hire and retain excellent workers. Then you can grow your business over 10 people to 10,000 or 100,000 people.
Stage 2 boss is frustrating as everything falls on you and you never have any time.
@@RH-cv1rg good luck!

And they all know there are no consequences as long as it's not too egregious.
Keith it definitely makes a difference with him putting up with the same mistakes over and over. I guess if he had near perfect workers it would make the videos boring.
It’s because he can’t afford to train an entire crew. If you have high turnover and always need to train new staff, how much work do you think you can get done? Retention is an investment. Eric taking earned time off to do side jobs is his prerogative.

When my employees asked about how to handle just about any task but wanted to do it right (my way until a better way presented itself) they would present the situation to which I replied: 'what would you recommend that we do?'. Within a few months, they already knew what my reply would be, so they instead approached me with a problem and 2 solutions. I want employees brains when they are at work. I pay more per hour than anyone in our field, but it pays me more also by way of 99.999999% less errors. That question pretty much solves problems over and over forever! PS: Our work is much more complex than yours, so I wanted a foolproof system that made my employees get involved in the solution. I highly recommend it, and be gentle, it takes old school employees and employers a few months to get comfortable with this 'new aspect of their jobs'. Have fun Ryan!
So, regarding your employees 'bad' work on the forms, I'd say: "Hey, is there any problem whatsoever with these forms, and are we good to pour concrete with them?" I'd have them all look the form work and gather them all together and see what they think of their work! Have all of them comment one by one. (give them a fish and you feed them for a day; teach them to fish and you feed them for life).
Agree with you here, he's just enabling them and they're used to not having to think for themselves cause Ryan just comes along and fixes it all every time.
Why didn't Eric catch Big Ray putting the kickers in wrong, because he didn't know either?
@@jburke4866 He didnt care ! All he wants to do is get it done and leave whether its right or wrong !
@@lawrence5039I really like that approach! Seems it would be much more efficient.
Why would anyone work for Ryan at this point. No one can do anything good in the viewers eyes.
To be fair, noone really cares or even remembers what randos have to say in youtube comments...
@@antipro85 how come no one joins his crew then? he has been looking for another finisher for months but can't get anyone.
@@j.az-made5618 Nobody wants to work for Ryan. He claims he gets thousands of applications but yet he was beggin g for a finisher on face book.
I wouldn’t want to be micro managed every second of the day at work. Some of us can actually go into work and do our job without being told what to do. *cough cough* Eric.
I have a feeling Eric will be gone soon
i hope so
Eric won’t make it on his own. He should just stick to side gigs.
Is it just me, or is all the running around to Home Depot and other suppliers to pick up material almost every day insane?
Wouldn’t it make more sense to plan ahead what supplies are needed for upcoming jobs and work either one or two construction supply outfits so you could turn in orders and have then deliver supplies to the yard once a week or something? And use time for actually working on jobs? As I understand, most supply companies will also make emergency runs to job sites when necessary as well. And if that costs too much, use it as an incentive to improve planning g!And maybe a fuel truck or tank in the yard that you could have a fuel company fill as needed and just fill the equipment without having to run around all the time to do it?
Spend your and employee time doing jobs, not running around on dimly little errands! And stop going for coffee every morning! Just fill a cup when you leave home! What a waste of time!
Geezus ..u gotta trench it and create the pitch for the plumber., that’s the hardest part.. you might as well save a boatload of money just ask him to pull the permit and do it yourself…🤯.. I’m quite certain you can glue pipe together…lol
The best crew member Ryan had was that older white guy with the big mustache. He knew what he was doing and Ryan never had to tell him what to do. He left because of the clowns 🤡 he had to work with.
SO DID I SEE IT RIGHT ERIC LEFT THE LITTLE MACHINE ON THE ROAD OVER NIGHT ???????
So? 😂😂😂

So your plumbers are having you do all the hard work and they just come put pipe together 😂 Come on man! Hopefully they cut the price in half 😂
Hes a idiot if he doesn’t get a new company in theres no way he will get a deal, they are probably charging him the same
Commercial plumbers never carry excavation for piping in contracts, that always falls on the excavation contractor.
Trust me you don't want to pay plumbers their wage just to dig holes
That's plumber is a joke. How the he'll do u not include the piping and trenching. I'd drop them and find a ne2 guy
@@stevensko9153Definitely not. If you can do the digging yourself, you’ll be better off.
Wow this season is really exposing the crews laziness
🤷♂️ HEY LETS THEM GET AWAY WITH IT AND PAYS AND HE PAYS FOR THERE LUNCHES AND HE PAYS BONUSES AND GIVES THEM FREE LUNCH 😂😂
5:35!! Dude Ryan stop complaining you caused this !!!!!
Don’t cry now !!!!! You spoiled Erick to not give a F !!!! It’s really your fault dude !! Now get on your knee fix it !!!!
Man I've made mistakes, but I was green and was learning.
The fact that these guys do side jobs and probably get paid pretty well by you. These guys sure know how to shitvwhere theu eat. I've would love to have our own machine and trucks and have places to put all the tools and stuff.
Should probably use long wooden stakes for that form...
I figured you would have deeper trenches. Will you be using rectangular rebar beams?. Footings? I'm just curious 😅😅
Ryan your human compassion is overriding your business sense.😮
That’s sad how you have to babysit these grown ahh guys it’s sad rayan 😣 I wish I had a boss like you rayan I work for a concrete company down in Atlanta and if I was to act up like ur workers you would’ve been got fire 😂
Philadelphia Mike here. -- I don’t want to sound mean. -/. But it seems like your crew is along for a free ride. --
Before you have a nervous breakdown You need to put yourself together a solid crew.
I know you’re good hearted and everything - Seems like all your guys are taking advantage of your kindness --
Jobs are getting so small, he only needs part time help.
Just FIRE Eric he’s no good for the company! He rather do his side jobs instead of helping you. Let him go, probably won’t even last 1 years by himself
I really haven't watched victory outdoor services since he got rid of bugs the last time. The one thing I do know is if you have employees and you pay them well they should be committed to you first and that's the bottom line, Ryan keeps making these mistakes. I would just get rid of the whole crew and start over with a new crew and rehire bugs! Problem solved. The crew he has now are just a bunch of slouchers, ingrates including big Ray. Nice people do not make good workers, hungry workers do...lol😮 also stay away from the junior and father fiasco xemployees that were fired! But Ryan doesn't learn his lesson he keeps wasting money I don't know how this guy stays in business he must have won the lottery or something.... LOL
Time is MONEY! Wake up Ryan. Your crew is taking advantage have you.
BIG TIME !!
He could literally fire them anytime he wants, but it’s all about the money.
