I was at this show, in the second row. It’ll always be one of my favourite gigs I’ve ever been to, and since this is one of my favourite songs from the more recent era, I was thrilled they opened with it.
One of their great show opening songs. Yeah, you pretty much got it, the 'Beautiful' refers to the beauty of the Earth itself, and all it has to offer. First track on the 2015 Endless Forms Most Beautiful album. It features the first keyboard/guitar duel in about 15 years at that time.
Great reaction Ray! It goes along with "Greatest Show On Earth" and "Endless Forms Most Beautiful" and probably some others from that album. Its all about evolution and Earth worship. That's why the R.D. voice overs.
One of the 4 great openers, I love this partly because she starts in my favourite part of her range, that beautiful velvet lower register, that she says she is least comfortable in. The opening also of what I call to myself "the Evolution album" which tells you what the song is about. Spoken opening from Richard Dawkins of course whose work inspired Tuomas to write the album. Wembley is about 12,500 and Nightwish sells it out every time. My second favourite show, this one was, according to Marco, his biggest - not because of the audience size (far smaller than Wacken) but because the venue is iconic.
Nightwish - Making of new album 2015, episode 7 (a short 5 minutes video) Floor telling how Tuomas (and Marko to some extent) challenged her vocals, including her lower register. This was the 1st Nightwish album written for Floor to sing.
Thank you for experiencing this and inviting us along! Prelude from Richard Dawkins: "The deepest solace lies in understanding, This ancient unseen stream, A shudder before the beautiful" Floors 1st Nightwish album: "Endless Forms Most Beautiful" (Charles Darwin end piece from "On The Origin Of Species"). Accelerating off into loud chugging! "Floor is just... her voice, she can, she can" Yes she can! Tuomas and Emppu jamming :) "A very good evening to you, London, Wembley Arena!" "HEY! Hey! Hey!" "This vagrant Island Earth" "We, the Voyagers"... Voyager Mission, Carl Sagan, turn the camera back for a selfie of Earth, "The Pale Blue Dot", Star Trek Voyager reference? This keeps cropping up... "Tales from the seas --All The Works Of Nature... The Blue Cathedral of green" --All The Works Of Nature... The clank of an Anvil (Tuomas on keyboards). Floor mixing a lower voice, then ramping it up.
Hi Ray, greetings from UK In the song after this one "Yours Is An Empty Hope" you would hear Floor GROWL! 😁 She also sings like a siren! The song for me which shows Floor's lower range best is "Song Of Myself" from Wacken 2013
Shudder Before the Beautiful live at Wembley… one of the best concert openings I’ve ever seen. Ladies and gentleman…start your engines. The show has begun.😀🤘 What a “blow your mind” way to start a show! You just know you are going to have an awesome night🤘🤘🤘
I really got into your reaction...I like that you touched getting deep but then would bounce back and keep the flow going! When they showed the audience I got the biggest chills! Your cool and im going to check out more of your stuff! My new favorite band is The Warning I hope you have reacted to them!?
Most of the songs that you heard before were originally written when Tarja was in the band and when Floor sung them she had to sing in a higher key. Shudder Before The Beautiful was from the Endless Forms Most Beautiful album written when Floor was in the band and in a key that suits her voice. I agree with you that it’s nice to hear the warm tone of her voice in this number.
Shudder before the Beautiful is referring to the amazement and wonder we (The Travelers) should all feel regarding the natural world. It is all around us including the solar system and universe, which we are all a part of while traveling amongst the stars on this small spec of blue. I agree with you. The vocals should be slightly louder in the mix from this show. The bass is just a bit to loud with dampens the overall sound a little. This was from the Nightwish 2015 record, "Endless Forms Most Beautiful". many of the songs from this record revolve around a theme of wonder and appreciation for the natural world all around us. As you probably know from other comments, Nightwish members are very much nature lovers and ponder deeply about the universe, how it works, and our place within its grand workings. NWSU/FloorFan/Epican/yreonaut/TWA 🤘😎🤘
A pilgrim shining bright...think...The Earth or the Sun....The Voyagers...think...us...we came from stardust and now we are ready to explore Mars and the rest of the universe...
Love your style! Little remark: when you talk during the song, the sound of the clip is going down... You can switch that off? The "Shudder before the Beautiful" line features in a poem by Roy Fuller, which states "even scientists shudder before the beautiful" (The voice ar the beginning is Richard Dawkins') "We are the Voyagers" is referring to the fact that we are sitting on this planet (A pilgrim shining bright) that is speeding through the endless space.
Floor usually/always has an upward-directed floorfan in front of her. In the 2018 Vancouver concert I was right up front and close enough to touch it. Maybe it's for the look. But I suspect it's because of the heat. Floor is physically very active, which creates heat. In the bigger shows pyros are used, and that stuff is hot!
It went to favorites even though it's already from Nightwish's own channel . Kiitos Ray . Happy midsummer celebration to you too . When will we see your reaction to Perfume Of The Timeless?
We the voyagers. While as a race, we look to the stars as we travel over land, over rivers and lakes and finally the vast oceans in our history. Also, our Voyagers 1 and 2, zooming through interstellar space with their golden records, recordings of the sounds of Earth, and some of our music. Can always interpet Nightwish songs in so many ways.
Hi! I love your reactions! Nightwish is my favorite band of all time. Next time, can you react to Ghost River from Wacken 2013, please! Greetings from Finland!
this song is a masterpiece in every sense of the word and the album this is from is holy smokes what a powerful and dynamic and energetic as well how do you not feel anything listening to this no one quite makes heavy metal with all the symphonic elements the way they do if you want to know what its about you can read the lyrics but she enunciates pretty well for me i don't have any trouble understanding her that energy when she says and a very good evening to you wembley we want to hear you what
Hi Rachael, please do some of these please: Rebel in t he F.G.D. or The great Missconceptions of Me - W.A.S.P. Burning Time (live) - Iced Earth Untouchable pt.1 and 2 (live) - Anathema Haggard - Eppur si Muove Design your Universe (live) - Epica The Scarecrow (The flying Opera live) - Avantasia Cleanse the Bloodlines / Abyss - Unleash the Archers Dynamite (live) - Scorpions
One of the best Nightwish albums and (unfortunately) their last good piece of music. I'm kinda sad that their time is over, since it was one of the first metal bands I discorvered. Plus, and I hate to say this, but I've seen Nightwish live twice and they really suck as a live band :(
@@kammurabi2313 like I said, I've seen them twice. Worst concerts I ever visited. I don't like to say that, but they are in fact not a good live band 😅 no need to cry
When did you see them and what exactly sucked? Was the playing sloppy? Vocals off-key? Sound poorly mixed or just bad? Low energy and no crowd interaction? These are genuine questions; I’m curious.
Floor walking out on the stage like a BOSS
Floor is the BOSS😉
Valkyrie Goddess Boss
@@TheMightyOdin yes sir !!
She’s a goddess that voice heaven sent ❤
In four inch heels, no less. Those boots were made for KICKING ASS.
Floor Jansen literally sang the phone book on dutch television and guess what? It was still amazing
I was at this show, in the second row. It’ll always be one of my favourite gigs I’ve ever been to, and since this is one of my favourite songs from the more recent era, I was thrilled they opened with it.
It's about looking in awe at the magnificence of the universe, the earth, nature, us.
I was masserised by the way they shift from one section to the another, it's beautiful

one of the few band that live are even better than on the records !
Great reaction Ray!
It goes along with "Greatest Show On Earth" and "Endless Forms Most Beautiful" and probably some others from that album. Its all about evolution and Earth worship. That's why the R.D. voice overs.
It's already 1 year and 6 months since the last time I saw them live, I miss them a lot, and I want more 😎
Was that in Amsterdam? cuz i was there too about that long ago.
A banger of a song to open a show with!!

Floor Jansen is a multi-tool. She can produce a sound (tool) for nearly any occasion. She pairs so well with Tuomas's writing and vision.
Does that make her the Dutch army knife of vocals?
Hehe
