The reason why that shoe was worn during the 1995 playoffs was because the NBA fined MJ $5,000 (i think) for not adhering to the team dress code policy. Starting in 1989 all Chicago Bulls players have to wear black shoes everytime they play in the postseason. Jordan wore the test run 11 concords prematurely and when he paid the fine he decided to wear Penny's Air Flight One to avoid another fine which pissed off Nike officials. After that they made him this "Space Jam" colorway so MJ can continue wearing the 11's for the rest of the series.
That, and he was too excited to try them out, considering this would eventually be his favorite shoe! Even Tinker Hatfield warned him not to use the test run/Concord, but MJ being MJ really wanted to play in them so badly! 😅
That white line has been standing out to me for the last several months. It detracts from the clean black upper. On the flip side, it's good to know that it's because of the real leather grain. I just wish the grain was dyed black. Thanks for calling it out by the way, you're the only one I've seen thus far. As far as the name, it's combined. Space Jam is what people have been wanting and identifying with. The other side is the OG fanatics of the game and not so much the movie collaboration.

That year you notice there where a lot of Jordan 10 PE. So before Jordan rocked these in Space Jam and thus wearing them early in the playoffs, they where going to be Orlando Magic worn by Team Jordan player Nick Anderson.
I would refer to these as Playoff Editions as he wore them in the 95 playoffs and the film wasn't released until November 96, and the shoes had 23 on them in the movie
I'm glad the jumpman is backwards on the left shoe as well it's one of the main things that stopped me from copping the 11's even if they never sold-out
yeah, I like the way its cut this time around way more. the midsole has that nice dip towards the back and the patent leather cut is wayyy better. Im diggin this and im gonna call these playoffs lol

Regardless of stories, they did this shoe right. Jumpman facing the correct direction, and shape of the shoe is leaning forward. No more banana 11s! Those two details were the most important for me.

One thing i like that jordan brand did was the jumpman back facing the toe. This is a good chance this will happen to future releases for og colorways. But i hope jordan brand doesnt do what they did to this og colorway and turn it to a pe type. Where it wasnt the way it was back in 96 to the public

Looking forward to these to drop. to address your question, the NBA uniform/ dress code policy until in recent years was, all players on a team needed to wear the same color shoes. so, with the Bulls players wearing black and MJ prematurely debuting the Concords, he was in violation of the policy. Which was kinda funny since MJ was the reason why the Bulls would wear black kicks in the playoffs...and white in the regular season. He's also the reason why the Bulls wore black socks in the playoffs as well. (also the reason why I wear nothing but black no show socks since '96.)

Funny thing is the fake manufacturers have been making shoes more up to the old Jordan standard than Jordan Brand is. Jordan Brand been getting away with selling their loyal customers fakes of their own legacy sneakers.
That is so true. Smh Jordan brand. Many people just buy from Jordan because of the hype. So Jordan just makes a lot of money even tho they don't put their best effort into making the shoes. Companies should put 100% into making the best quality products while still making the product on the cheaper side. Also with a higher quantity. True. Last year's cops were super easy. I got the 72-10s offline on release day and I never am able to get through. Hopefully it's the same this year. I really hate going through the hassle of resellers and eBay

I believe filming of the movie was complete prior to his comeback in the league. Otherwise he wouldn't have had the time to train and play while filming.

The thing I hate about this remastered version of the 11 are the peaks on the patent leather. It just hurts to look at the peaks. Anyways, still a dope shoe and great vid nightwing. Keep up the good work👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Ethan Busa The peaks were actually on the OG, they just weren't as big as they are here. They were much more subtle on the OG.

Funny thing is the fake manufacturers have been making shoes more up to the old Jordan standard than Jordan Brand is. Jordan Brand been getting away with selling their loyal customers fakes of their own legacy sneakers.
That is so true. Smh Jordan brand. Many people just buy from Jordan because of the hype. So Jordan just makes a lot of money even tho they don't put their best effort into making the shoes. Companies should put 100% into making the best quality products while still making the product on the cheaper side. Also with a higher quantity. Yes it will cost the company to spend more, but if they make more of a product they will eventually make a profit.

True. Last year's cops were super easy. I got the 72-10s offline on release day and I never am able to get through. Hopefully it's the same this year. I really hate going through the hassle of resellers and eBay

@nightwing2303 I disagree, he was not still retired during the completion of Space Jam. Space Jam was completed after they got knocked out off the playoffs in '95 and before the 1995-1996 season.
I believe filming of the movie was complete prior to his comeback in the league. Otherwise he wouldn't have had the time to train and play while filming.

That reverse Jumpman thing is why I'm passing on the 9's, actually. I'v had them before, and while I love the shoe, I want a true remastered pair. So, until that happens I'll keep my money.

Y'all know a lot about them 9s and 11s. I never caught all that to know the difference. I'll still get them but it sucks that they're still missing the mark on being truly remastered. I kind of don't mind the 11s but like Nightwing2303 said; they could be more-less considered Playoff PE's.
