If you don't mind the mess a really good bait for catching bream is mullet gut. If you do decide to use it don't use the hard ball part, only use the soft part, they don't like to eat the hard part.
Go to Brisbane River to catch bigger fish like Jew , threadfin, grunter bream, sharks, tailor, mangrove jack, snapper,cod, flathead, javelin fish, big bream, Whiting ,huge groper,big ass pike eels,cat fish, river perch,and there is barramundi in the river to some were,I,ve caught these fish over the years ,but not a barramundi yet I now there There

Its to the side under the Gold Coast Hwy Bridge going over Currumbin Creek. Follow service road along GC Hwy its off Thrower Dr and you will drive down past Loins Park 👍. Hope that helps
