  • I'm going to show you all three steps to make easy sourdough bread from a potato flake starter. It's a process that takes about 2 days from start to finish, but each step only takes minutes. I make bread every 3 to 5 days.
    This is an old Amish potato flake starter. It's different than a flour & water starter and produces a softer, sweeter bread. I got my starter from a family friend and her family has been making bread from it for over 100 years. They pass the starter on from generation to generation and share with friends as well.
    This makes the best sandwich bread.. soft and sweet. It also makes great rolls, pizza crust, all kinds of things. And you can use the discard in all kinds of recipes I'm planning on trying some in a browned butter sourdough chocolate chip cookie recipe soon. I hear it's amazing.

      the starter is just a mix of sugar, instant potato flakes and hot water - it's really easy to make and is very forgiving if you don't use it every week!
