  • Sharing the thought process and Photoshop layers behind this fun image. It started with one image then I added another to add depth to the background, AND colour grading using different techniques to get the look I was after. It is about letting the imagination roam, which can lead you anywhere.

thanks for sharing these great videos, very informative and insightful. i have a question i hope you can help with. In PS, when creating images using layers, selections and masks, the file size quickly and dramatically increases, sometimes to 2-4GB. That's OK, but when i have to export the image for a comp and the max long edge is say 1080, the export image file size might be 400kb. Have you experienced this and do you know how you can export the image to the max long edge but have a bigger size (e.g. 2gb)

Great question sorry I haven't replied sooner, been battling the flu. I struggled with this in the early days when I was entering competitions. The file can increase in size depending on a number of factors. When downsizing say from 6000 to 2500 on the longest edge there are a number of factors that can limit the file size. It is about getting the longest edge for comp such as 2500px etc. I would suggest doing a search for info or reaching out to someone in a camera club, another photographer etc to see if they can help you, as there are so many variables and I can't give an answer without seeing the photo. Good luck!
