Yeah, I'm French and Bianchi is our only hop in formula one these days. But aside that, I feel really bad about this. We don't really hav information, only a few photos, but the press doesn't want to post it. Hope it will be all good for him, and that he will come back really quickly !
Tres bon signe !
If you have watched this year's races, the drivers shift when the rev-counted blinks to conserve fuel by using lesser revs, which is basically why the game does that too. Of course you can use higher revs, but technically the cars are meant to shift up when the lights blink
You're shifting way too late. The reason why the revs are flashing early is because that is the optimal time to change gear, which in this case around 12,000 RPM, which is when the engine makes the most torque. But you're shifting a lot later at around 15,000 RPM and that is why your engine was over heating and burning up a lot of fuel. Have a listen to the AI cars, noticed how quieter and sooner they change gears?
No, you don't want to shift at peak torque. You actually want to ride the peak, shifting when the torque drops below the torque of the next gear up. Shifting at the torque peak/low revs mean that you lose a significant amount of the torque after the peak, which remains higher than the available torque before. Yes, you save fuel, but for speed it is not optimal at all. For someone who likes good ol' American muscle, I'm a little surprised you would shift so early.
drascalov The way I understand it, the torque curve for these engines flattens out at 11-12000 rpm, so revving past this point doesn't result in any extra performance but does burn more fuel.
drascalov American V8's are different to turbo V6's. V8's have a higher torque range but in a V6 turbo it's a lot lower plus like Cassinisam said after 12,000 RPM in these f1 car's the torque flattens out and does noting but burn fuel it a turbo remember so after a certain RPM the turbo has no effect if you watch real F1 the driver's short shift like crazy.
The revs are actually not off, you are following the old principle of fully revving the engine as if it was the old V8. You are actually supposed to short shift as they suggest to keep the engine in the torque band.
not really. when you're at the end of a straight, you don't want torque, you want horsepower. in real life, the lights flash right below the rev-limiter, the driver isn't expected to short shift unless theyre trying to save fuel.
Michael Dobak Okay if you want to justify staying in the power range, Peak power(HP) is still made on most of these engines around 11-13k rpm [As noted in the Race Engine Technology magazine Issue 072]. After that peak, power drops significantly by almost 50HP! It is also noted within those last 2-3k rpm the engine is using "wasting" almost 20 g/kwh "fuel" more than at peak power, and more than 60 g/kwh when at 9-11k rpm(peak torque). So either way you slice it, there is no need to fully rev the engine.
Michael Dobak Secondly with regards to the straight line speed, usually the end of the straight isn't the problem when controlling revs, its an issue when coming out a corner and getting back up to speed.
Themayseffect Exactly, The engineers set the rev limiter to 11k. the rules let the engine rev to 15k, but none of the teams rev that high because of the fuel economy price for little to no performance gain. Every engine is set to hit the limiter to 11k, so the drivers drive to the rev limiter that the engineers set. hence why the lights on the steering wheel in this game are telling you to shift around7-8k rpm. its just a glitch in the pre-production software.
I've found no evidence to note what your saying as fact. Nor is it logical for any team to cap there engine at 11k. Reason being if a car is within a draft, those Last 4k rpm can be beneficial when trying to gain speed without having to use full throttle or on a low fuel consumption map. But on the topic of the game setting the shift point to something under 11k still isn't wrong, and that falls inline to what many have said of shifting within the torque curve around 8-10k rpm, which is still perfectly fine. Either way, this guy was still over revving the engine, which had zero benefits. But I can understand why shifting under 10k in a formula one car can be utterly disappointing.
The reason the lights are flashing is, that you are rev the engine to high. The rules allow to rev the Engine to 15.000 revs, but the optimal performance is around 12.000 revs, because higher revs increase the fuel consumption drastically, but the engine does not provide more power, because the engines lack of torque. It looks as Codemaster implemented it partially, you can rev the engine higher than advised, but is has no influence on the Fuel consumption.
Hey guys ! And awesome vid, too. But is the rumeur real taht Vettel is going to ferrari ? Because for me it's really strange. It's like if Schumacher went at Renault in 2002-2008 !!
How are you playing this game when its not released? Did Codemasters gave it to you to promote it? Or you got some kind of a beta version? Great videos by the way, great driving and commentating.
The reason why the revs flash early on the dash is because it goes to 11000 RPM because thats a way to save fuel on game and in real life, but your reving to 15000 RPM which isnt optimal for fuel

Where did you download the game??? (if you say me i'm going to subscribe) I know that my english is horrible
would love to see what the on board footage is of Monaco! i know that its been altered with regards to scenery! but would love to see what else is changed
Nice vid Ben! But I just don't understand Hermann Tilke... Sometimes, he designs an absolute gem of a track, like Sepang, Istanbul and Austin, other times he designs an absolute flop like Valencia and Bor-ea... Sochi is one of the latter I'm afraid... Flat, unchallenging and more 90 degree corners than a group of rectangles! P.S wishing Jules Bianchi all the best
The live commentary was sickkk but do it a lot to get use to it because at times it wasnt great, also it would be cool if you had one of those front looking cameras also like ksi matty hd gamer etc. youre a great youtuber
You are thinking that youre shifting good, but you need to shift early. If you shift, youre losing accelration at the and of the gear. If you shift earlier, you still have more acceleration then at the end of the gear before
Tiametmarduk watch all ur videos all very good but my question is as follow I got f1 2013 pc is it worth it updating to f1 2014 I can't see much difference in the game look more like f1 2013 just update it cheers
Can you make a video about the feeling in f1 2014? I really would like to know how it feels to drive. Maybe you can make a sort of f1 2014 Q&A where you answer all question that we have for f1 2014.
Fingers Crossed for Bianchi guys ! #CourageJules

LittleJossyBoy JO Latest news is that he is undergoing head surgery, and will probably be transferred to Intensive Care Unit.
Latest reports states that Bianchi's surgery is over and he's breathing without support, so that's a good sign!
MrBryan86 Where did you find that news mate? Didn't see it on the official F1 website
At the end... here in austria ?!?!?!?!
Guess he went to Austria after 13 laps of Russia.
This was really a great race here in Austria...
Holy crap, the engine went to red in like 3 seconds on Standard.
Ben, could you do a Monaco race with Bianchi's Marussia ? That would be very nice :)
Yeah I agree ! Poor Bianchia I was so sad when I saw him behind Sutil's car :(
Monaco isn't on this
Tres bon signe !
Suppppp
Thanks for the gameplay man! Keep it up :D
***** Awaiting copyright dispute to be sorted. Then it'll be up!
8why you ahve the game early its unfair :(
First race in Austria. Putin is so coming for you xD
Driver in a McLaren please!
It is awsome that you put out so much videos lately. Thanks :P
Quiet like the track , no gravel , tight chicanes , looks good! Great video as always.

Cassinisam If it's flat it is still good and you can ride it until the limiter. It has to drop significantly for the next gear to have better torque.
U mean makes the most horsepower. Torque is low end power and horsepower is top end.
9:48 Sochi*

Ben at the end of the video u just said "we finish our first race in Austria "
This is finally F1 2014 or will be given something more or better ? :)

The track has some real great flow to it. As far as layout, top marks, and drivers will enjoy all the corners
Lol. The actual track wasn't as good, way too many of the corners were too sharp and the flow is nowhere to be seen in real life
Basically, Russian Valencia.
Im coming from 5 years in the future and I can tell you everyone thinks its trash
@@mloe8072 hahaha ooooh trust me I know
oh my god! i have only played F1 2010, and i am amazed that they added so many new great graphics in newer F1 games.
Hey guys ! And awesome vid, too. But is the rumeur real taht Vettel is going to ferrari ? Because for me it's really strange. It's like if Schumacher went at Renault in 2002-2008 !!
Can you drive as Jules Bianchi in the next race?? Just as a tribute after today's race in Japan. Just hopeful everything is alright for him!
How are you playing this game when its not released?
Did Codemasters gave it to you to promote it? Or you got some kind of a beta version?

(if you say me i'm going to subscribe) I know that my english is horrible
When you were in the car in the garage before the race, it looked like an Enderman was teleporting around in the background :D
Pit lane in Russia is so cool. I would like to test what happens if u go in via the second open gap rather than the proper entry
Just wanted to know how the hell you havent spent out with that wacky setup!?!
would love to see what the on board footage is of Monaco! i know that its been altered with regards to scenery! but would love to see what else is changed
The corner you called tricky was said the same by Vettel. Seems like it is going to be challenging
You said Austria instead of sochi at the end of the race
Sochi looks good and fast-paced as well
Haha the mirrors looks amazing :P
Into the barrier said that you should follow the rev counter if you want to be fuel efficient :)
6:38 that looked absolutely ridiculous lol
It's that feel, when you live in 3km of Olympic Park :D
The game hasn't even came out yet, how are you playing this?
When does the new season start for League racing? Directly after the game release or waiting some time?
Nice vid Ben! But I just don't understand Hermann Tilke... So the game is released in Japan?
Ben, what about the tyre wear? It seems to be a lot better than F1 2013 :p
The live commentary was sickkk but do it a lot to get use to it because at times it wasnt great, also it would be cool if you had one of those front looking cameras also like ksi matty hd gamer etc.
youre a great youtuber
Thanks for the video! Is there any difference between this game's and 2013 force feedback? Any difference in the steering responsiveness? Cheers!
How do you feel about the vettel incident?
#KeepFightingJules
He Said our first race in austria
Sochi looks terrible tbh. Its just 90 degree corners.
Like every modern circut
Stipe Gojanović Well no. Texas is good and Abu dhabi is pretty good as well
Stipe Gojanović rude
Yeah, ur right. Just like the Red Bull ring, a verry borring track.
LittleJossyBoy JO although, the Red Bull ring is not new.
I think you need to shift earlier with these new engines in general? I think the rev counter is correct, but I could be wrong...
Will a demo come out on Steam?
will there be live updates to this game???
So the track has 3 passing opportunities but at the same time very tricky braking points.
Do you play with a steering wheel?
Legend?
You are thinking that youre shifting good, but you need to shift early. If you shift, youre losing accelration at the and of the gear. If you shift earlier, you still have more acceleration then at the end of the gear before
Man! You got some eccentric tuning ideas
Tiametmarduk watch all ur videos all very good but my question is as follow I got f1 2013 pc is it worth it updating to f1 2014 I can't see much difference in the game look more like f1 2013 just update it cheers
please do Monaco with any driver
How does this compare to 2013? I hated the lack of turn in on corner entry on 2013, also the lack of difference the wing settings made.
Just saw Kimi's car in the rear view mirror and it had the number 14 on it. What is going on?
the smaller numbers on the digital screen on the steering wheel, what do they indicate?
the rev counter flashes when it is most fuel efficient to shift. watch aarava's video on fuel saving
Does F1 2014 have some ''Team principal mode''
I hope
PapaoscarCSGO no
Just bought it .. No Kers on the game?
no kers in real life
Ok. I guess I need to start paying more attention to f1 lol . Thanks :)
no they stopped using KERS in 2014 when they switched to the V6 hybrid engines
Why is this unlisted?
6:13 why pitstop the wheels are not damage.why?
Tiametmarduk No offense but, don't you think that you had to race w/ the racing line (corners only) to learn the track???
"Lewis Hamilton is on pole. Shock." xD
Man I missed the high pitched "NEEEE NEEEEEE NEEEEEEEEEEEE" of the cars if ya know what I mean
LOL, Ben said at 9:49 First race at Austria!
Shift earlier maybe?
Good gameplay, but mate, the revlights in your stering wheel beg you for change gear quicly, dont stuck in one gear too much time.
regards.
is it worth buying over 2013?
what you think about the game in general Tiametmarduk
9:49 - are you insulting?
What is with the ERS ?
To find your braking point simply use the racing line
Stay on the track!
can't you adjust in-game audio settings?
Did u see Bianchi's crash at Japan
This race was an online or offline race?
You should do a Wet Race in Brazil!
Can you ply this game with a mouse on do you need a wheel?
Tiametmarduk Yeah i havea question. Can those tyres explode in F1 2014?
Can you make a video about the feeling in f1 2014? I really would like to know how it feels to drive. Maybe you can make a sort of f1 2014 Q&A where you answer all question that we have for f1 2014.
your first race?
"Another F1 2014 gameplay." Link to the other one?
Is the wheel really that big???
Is there if a demo if not how are you playing it
6:37 no car can accelerate and turn like that.
Why do you not drive on COCKPITVIEW?
hopefully bianchi is ok and gets better ASAP.
Is this game playable with a ps3 controller for a rookie like me?????? Plz respond
what happen with KERS? is no button for KERS? can we use KERS like in 2013?
Could you drive a Ferrari around Austria?
There is no KERS?
The kink is turn 1 the 90 degree is turn 2
Do a Mini-Season like Araava... 4-5 races in a small championship
9:49 Austria?
When is career mode starting?
When full game comes out
Thanks dude !
bad graphics. you are playing with the ps4?
There will probably be a PC mod and to change the rev counter
Whete did you get?
how did you get it
