- In this video I walk you through exactly how to pull apart and clean the Camelbak Podium Jet valve lid so you can clean all the separate parts and stop it collecting mold or wash away any mold that has been created.
It's really important you do this in order to stop mold from forming as the small pieces can stay wet and gather mold over time.

The valve can actually be disassembled further - the transparent rubber valve can be separated from transparent plastic holder. I found some mold in between them.
To assemble back, orient the rubber valve so when you look from outside the bottle, the the curved surface looks concave. Orient the plastic holder wider part outside the bottle. Insert the rubber valve into the wider part of the holder. Then follow the instructions in the video.

Excellent, and right to the point. I have the model designed for offroad/dirt; it has the little dust cover, but is essentially the same. All of the small parts make it complicated, but I do like having the option of disassembling it for a deep clean, rather than destroying or damaging a cheaper bottle.
Thanks for the video! I wasn't sure if I could take these apart and was scared I would break something. I found that for 2:17 its easier to go from the other side and push down on the edge of the valve. I ended up slightly denting the outer part of the valve by trying to pry it out. I was probably trying to brute force it a little to much.
I found a small pair of needle nose pliers works well for removing the valve.

I took the jet valve once long time ago (by mistake) and I didn't know you should push it in firmly till you hear a click and so it was just laying there free and not fixed in place all that time which made the bottle spill water out each time it was lying\leaning a bit sideways. I was so frustrated by it and couldn't figure out how to fix this so thank you again, much appreciated!

I pushed the tabs and one broke. Couldn’t reassemble. . . This newer style has many more parts. Why make it more complicated?
HUGE thanks for this video! I have an old Camelbak podium and was wondering if the newer version was easier to clean. Well, this video made it clear that it's even more difficult (with even more bits and pieces to disassemble!) and that I should probably just drink my water from a cup to avoid mold. 😅

Very helpful. I used a needle nose plier to grab the edge of the little plastic jet valve holder and pull it up. Seemed to work well.
Now CAMELBAK spent ALOT of time engineering that entire spout having to design it in order to take it all apart in order to clean out the Bacteria and assemble it back together. EXCELLENT JOB CAMELBAK !

May I suggest using interdental brushes to clean the smaller crevices. You’ll find this in the dental section of supermarkets or pharmacies. Comes in various sizes. Thanks for the video :).

Brilliant! Exactly what I’ve been looking for and so much better than camelbaks own video! The sugars in energy drinks can cause bacteria to accumulate over time and this cleaning process means you can avoid that 😊

Thanks for the video. I took apart the jet valves and they had lots of mold in/on them, so then I soaked in straight vinegar and Dawn Powerwash. I use my fingernail to try and scratch off the mold. But it is very stubborn. The parts have been soaking about 4 hours. All of the other parts are cleaned using brush.
U really need to take it apart. I have been having the runs and was wondering why. The top was really dirty. Thank u for showing me how to take this apart. Have reflected to CamelBak. I have the photos of the dirty top to prove it.
Thanks! Broke one of the tabs on the middle piece putting it back in, but it still seems to work OK. Replacement cap is $8.

Do you want to know the best way to clean all the bits. Use Milton, which is used to sterilise baby bottles. Kills all the mould and it all looks brand new one you soak LL parts in it for a couple of hours or overnight
Thx for this!! How does one remove the black mold from the rubber valve? Seems impossible, even alcohol won't work.
Game changer! But what about the older Podium caps?? I have a Podium Chill Insulated bottle that I'd guess is 5 or 6 yrs old (though I got it on sale a couple yrs ago)

I accidentally threw away my stopper cap, the first part that is removed. Bottle works fine still, what does it do anyway.
Great question and one that I have myself. I’ve got no idea what the stopper cap does and it’s only fairly lightly held in place. If it still works fine without it then I guess you don’t need it 🤷🏻♂️

The stopper caps function is for the go/no go feature of the locking cap it’s self. Yes, it works just fine without, but you won't be able to store your filled bottles in the horizontal position.
I was looking for the answer to the same question! I think if I’m just going for a ride, I might leave that stopper cap out. And the plastic ring is not necessary as long as you don’t turn the lock lever too hard. Combined that saves a whole 6g! 😅. But it’s free.
I have 2 of them and just found an insulated podium that I need to thoroughly clean. I'm not sure why they have to have so many parts.

Podium's Breakaway insulated bottle is basically the same thing as Camelbak's podium chill, but with a much easier lid and mouthpiece to disassemble for cleaning. It breaks down into like 3 parts instead of 8, and can be cleaned in about 30 seconds.
