I have a suggestion for you to improve your buggy. If you add an AND module, you can connect this to the Switch of the suspension and the normal headlights and control the upper ones. The top headlights only come on when you are driving off-road and the normal headlights are switched on. I would also only the upper ones rely on full power, makes the effect even better! ;)
in trucking the bit that hangs down form the trailer is called the "kingpin" and the spot it locks into is called the "fifth wheel" (don't ask where the name came form, i don't have a clue) you may find it helps your steering if you move the fifth wheel farther forward on your truck, you would have to extend it a bit but if the game models weight distribution at all that should put more on the front. I think you have done a fine job with your truck rig and hope to see more!
ARockRaider the fifth wheel actually comes from the marketing for the first semi truck. It had a fifth wagon wheel on a free spinning axel. The flatbed would be lowered onto the free wheel and lock onto it.
I was wondering how that'd work when you wanted to unhitch, but if you made a colored block side back and forth with a switch like the piston engine activator pieces you could raise and lower from inside the cab. completely Cab operated.
Coyote858 or have a sensor next to the hitch that retracts the legs when it’s activated so they extend as soon as you pull the truck away and retract once the truck is far enough underneath
psycho steve, good idea. Set it up to detect the locking pin so the legs automatically raise when it is locked in, and lower when it is released. And, in case it gets yanked loose again, set up some bearings & arms with buttons to upright it automatically.
Dorgerino dor-gernio “”dorgerino” a Fancy word of stupid just like you” Me and everyone that sees this: man google roasted me the comment and other people huh
While it's likely that you're right, castles also had features located in the roof of the passageway for the gate that were actually called "murder holes" which had a similar purpose.
kAN, put a spudgun in the back of the cab and have it shoot the switch on the trailer so you don't even have to get out. Cool builds, I wish I could make stuff like you do. Also, if you put the vac pipe right up to the packing input, it will open a little. Then only the designated item can be sent out and anything else in the chest is ignored.
Kan when you get a mount able spud gun .. put it on your cabin facing the switch that lowers the trailers stand. This is useful for saving time and has a more realistic truck feeling for controlling the trailer from the cabin.
If you added a "roof" to the top of your trailer and added pipe around it, it would almost look like a car hauler. I know I've said it once in another video but I'm so happy to see an actual truck and trailer in the game. With my working in the trucking industry I'm very thankful to see this vs other "trucks" and bs trailers. I love the authenticity of the vehicle.
Awesome man. Now, about that next miner... A mining trailer! Something you can bring to the mining site, unhitch, get your mine on, then fold back up and off ya go. Either to the next stone deposit or to a resource processing area.
When murder holes are pushed over the edge of the wall, it's machicolations. And yes you should add them. You also want to add crenellations for the tape bots. As for your truck, the lower wheels let you hitch up easier, so you'll want to increase the trailer legs size. And irl trucks use a 'saddle' that lowers the contact area of truck and trailer.
21:42 - There is a check. If you make physical contact (It will turn blue) between the vacuum to the packer you will only shoot out the correct fruit/veggie. You don't even need to worry about what is in the chest either. Just thow them all in the chest and the packer will take the correct item.
I would recommend hooking the steering wheel to the other four wheels in the back so that when you’re making heavy stops like that you’ll have more of the turning radius and maybe put suspension for the back of your truck like I mean under the plate where the trailer goes so that when it hatches on the subvention will kick in and it will takeoff a little bit of the edge
I am loving the truck it was looking very boss. Couple of suggestions for a bit more efficiency. Get the fruit at the far station loaded first so you're not having to drive heavy out and back, just back. What about an elevator ramp at the end? like button activated. one for lift and a second for down? also can you make the cab of the truck out of really heavy materials to help engage the steering wheels? or some sort of stiffer suspension to push those wheels against the ground so you don't lose so much steering? maybe the street shocks instead of the off-road ones? (I'm not sure what the operational difference is between the two sets.) Keep up the great work, I am loving the series and the videos.
Instead of having the fruit shooter on the truck and having to unhook the trailer you could putt a permanent station built on the floor next to the packing station that has chests and fruit shooter for each fruit. :)
1:58 I belive you cant plant full grown plants if you use vaccum pump So dont you dare eat brocoil and pineaplle as soon as you get them! | Also you can plant potatos using your spud gun xD How amazing atention to details!
4:18 Some people say it's a dumb idea but it's just what I prefer to do: I build a sort of life into the bottom of my main vehicle to protect it so that I can still use my normal lift for climbing cliffs. The only really big problem was that for how high and stable I wanted it I needed 8 tier 5 pistons but you could realistically do less if you wanted to. Like for instance I did 1 piston per corner but you could just do 3 pistons in a triangle and it would be fine. I understand they can still attack the pistons but it's better than nothing and makes exploration much easier for me.
Thinking about the trailer, you could use a sensor detecting a colored block to automatically bring up the legs of the trailer so you don't have to get out. You then could use a piston with the colored block to activate it from the cab. If you set it up so the colored block brings the legs up, and without it it puts them down you have a pretty nifty system.
Kan I have a cheaper suggestion for protecting your base walls! Iballisticsquid figured out that if you use ramps the bots can’t break it, so if you grab ramps from warehouse roofs with a plane or flying vehicle it would be a simple and cheaper way to protect your base than using an automated machine.
You could put the platforms for the fruit/veg containers on bearings (and maybe pistons) to allow you to place them on it from the ground, but also keeping them upright.
1:42 I suggest that you paint the chests according to fruit/vegatable color, instead of having to remember which individual chest has whatever by yourself. banana-yellow chest, etc.
jack the suspension up on the rear most axle, this will transfer weight to the front axle. also when re-designing the truck if you move the king pin forward (or move the rear axles back) this will put weight on the front axles. A real tractor trailer has several positions that the king pin can lock in to help distribute the weight across all of the axles. this helps with handling and axle load.
Man, I love your videos. I've been watching your videos from the start. I watch your videos when I'm feeling down or when I need inspiration. I'm glad you continued with UA-cam. Your videos really help me. Thank you.
Hey Kan, in Durf's livestream we found that you can weld the fruit crates onto your vehicle! If you wanted you could just do the wall in the middle like you wanted and just WELD them on!
Wow... I didn't realise that the crops actually GREW... I thought they went through stages, like when they become harvestable. The way they actually grow from seedlings to fruitful crops is such a cool detail! I suppose I've never wasted a whole day just watching them...
Make a pad on the back of your truck and on the trailer. Make it out of low friction material also. I made a similar design and I used the larger pipes as pads since they only have like 3 friction. IT made a huge difference. The lower friction will also make backing the trailer up a lot easier.
Regarding what happened at 21:40, if you manage to move the vacuum pump as close to the packing station's input as possible, the input will turn blue, and the pump will ONLY output the matching crop. Taking advantage of this, you could actually keep a mix of crops in your output chest. Unfortunately, the tolerance is pretty narrow, so you have to get veeeery close.
I think you should build an 8x8 truck like a Tatra or Maz 535 where the 2 front axles do the steering. They also place the cab slightly forward of the 1st axle to allow the trailer to mount closer to the middle of the frame. It balances the weight when you're hauling a heavier trailer.
I really enjoy the series but I think your trailer design could use some improvements. You can put a bearing at each end of the trailer (on both sides) which turn 90 degrees when you press a button. Then connect the walls of the trailer to thos bearings. That way when you're trying to load / unload boxes, you press the button and the walls come down and become horizontal which is easy to load, then you fold them back into place for travelling! It'd be a lot easier to go even crazier with this design too and have a triple or quardople decker trailer! You can also make another trailer for mining where it has the robot arm, the resource collectors and 4 support structures like the current trailer where they come down and stablize the trailer when you're mining.
If you want to help with the truck's steering issue when it's heavily loaded. You could extend the truck at the back and move the back axles further back, but leave the fifth wheel in the same place. That way the weight is spread better across all three "axles". As for the lag with the flat front of the trailer resting on the back of the truck. How about making a gooseneck trailer? It would be longer overall or hold less cargo, but there would be much less trailer in contact with the truck. Alternatively you could make the trailer taller and create space between the trailer deck and the back of the truck so that only the fifth wheel and kingpin are in contact.
Hourdes were the wooden corridors built along the tops of castle walls with machicolation holes along the floor too shoot down along the wall; when replaced with permanent stone crenelations, some built them set out off the walls to provide machicolations. Murder Holes are where you have a small room between 2 gates/portcullis, with thin slit windows along the walls, and hatch holes in the roof to drop rocks/tar/oil down.
There is a check for tossing the veg and fruit into the packing station. The pump has to be INSIDE the input. Then, it'll only shoot the appropriate crops.
Hey kAN, you inspired me to build my own truck and trailer. Like you identified in this video, the flat surface of the back of the truck in contact with the flat surface of the trailer causes the lag. I solved it by removing all the center blocks from the trailer so the back contact area is a hollow box frame instead of a filled box. That pretty much eliminated the issue. I also put a sensor on the trailer behind the attachment peg so that when I lock the pin it triggers the sensor to raise my trailer pistons, and then when I retract the pin it puts the pistons back down to lift the trailer so I never have to get out of the seat to attach and detach the trailer. Works well.
That’s what I like about scrap mechanic. They may use mathematically “perfect” objects (consider a rod of length x, a wheel of radius r, a pivot of size 0 but with no friction) but the interaction of friction, mass, linear/radial force and simple logic control systems allow for some insanely interesting results. This the visually appealing flat surface on flat surface of your trailer upon a pin has a frame rate and mobility issue where a real truck would simply torque itself to breaking point. The consequences are that you get rewarded for good design yet poorly thought out ones don’t self destruct without warning. All that said, id murder for some REAL high capacity fuel storage and high efficiency engines that can handle larger vehicles without needing a pit stop every 5-10 minutes. The jet engines suffer similar issues, massive fuel consumption for a mayfly use time.
You should put a backwards facing sensor on the peg of the trailer that senses when the locking pin on the truck is locked, that way you wouldn't have to get out of the seat to attach and detach the trailer. Also you could add more legs to the trailer on the back, to lift the wheels off the ground so that it stays in place while you try to reconnect it to the truck.
7:26 it would be cool if you could make an aquarium by making a enclosed area and getting a bucket and throwing the water in it and then put like glow bugs and stuff in it
I don't get how watching a guy drive to a packing station and a hideout in a truck for 35 minutes is so entertaining, but it is. Nice video by the way.
Hey kan just a tip for collecting the farmer guys you can weld them to your vehicle instead of just beating them up with a hammer to get it into your car
A way you could possibly improve the trailer is putting a sensor right near the hitch mechanism facing down connected to the swinging legs that hold up the trailer so the legs engage automatically when you release the trailer and disengage when you back up into it
You could add a staircase which folds down from the top of the trailer so that you can easily go up and down when you load it. Just an idea, but I think it'd be pretty cool
You could change your 5th wheel to adjust how the trailer rides but the simpler idea would probably be to lengthen the kingpin to bring the trailer up. Either way you will need to most likely bring the back end of the trailer up to keep it level.
the packing stations do have checks for when you shoot stuff into them you just have to be closer so the ports light up on the packing station. maybe add a vacuum tube between the chest and vacuum pump to get some extra distance or add a second piston with switch or controller setup so that you can have 2 stages when you push out the chest in the truck. one for lining up and the second to activate the ports on the packing stations.
You can stack crop crates on top of each other.. you don't need the second deck, also you can weld the crates to the trailer and I think that can help with frame rates..
I have one good use for piston engines, since they have torque, no fuel consumption, and TORQUE, they would be amazing for massive loads for your packing adventures.
Wow, I didn’t realize that they implemented a full growing spectrum, instead of like three models of [not grown, kinda grown, fully grown]
yeah you can see them slowly growing in size
Its in the trailer sped up
Really cool to watch
Yeah I thought that too, but this system is a lot more realistic considering it only takes a day to grow crops.
Hi there

in trucking the bit that hangs down form the trailer is called the "kingpin" and the spot it locks into is called the "fifth wheel" (don't ask where the name came form, i don't have a clue)

Kan :We also have no turning with this heavy trailer.
Moments later: Makes a huge turn with no problem.
the ramps on top of the warehouse are invincable
If you push your fruit dispenser into the packing station you can just have a regular switch hooked up
Sugestion: a dual engine work vehicle (piston/bearing and fuel powered). Maybe with retractable saw and drill? :D loving your content!
I love the frequency of uploads with this series 👍👍👍
Hey kan just a tip for collecting the farmer guys you can weld them to your vehicle instead of just beating them up with a hammer to get it into your car
You can put some saws on the side of the wall as defence

A way you could possibly improve the trailer is putting a sensor right near the hitch mechanism facing down connected to the swinging legs that hold up the trailer so the legs engage automatically when you release the trailer and disengage when you back up into it
I think it'll be a good idea to put piston suspension on the front wheels so when it dose lift up from a heavy load you can still steer
My gosh scrap mechanic should hire u for your ideas
I love that automatic planting setup ... will have to see if I can simulate that in my gameplay !
I love your truck! I made a Phantom Truck and im pretty proud of it 😂
I loved that farm time lapse!
You should do a trailer to the buggy that You Can put the caged farmers in the trailer and bring Them to the trader
You could add a staircase which folds down from the top of the trailer so that you can easily go up and down when you load it. Just an idea, but I think it'd be pretty cool
Great videos 🤘👍 also, re-rout the engine power to the back duals, not the front, you will get better traction just like a semi
I like the music you chose for when you were packing
You could change your 5th wheel to adjust how the trailer rides but the simpler idea would probably be to lengthen the kingpin to bring the trailer up. Either way you will need to most likely bring the back end of the trailer up to keep it level.
Suggestion: Add lights on the wall to see farmbots more easily at night
the packing stations do have checks for when you shoot stuff into them you just have to be closer so the ports light up on the packing station. maybe add a vacuum tube between the chest and vacuum pump to get some extra distance or add a second piston with switch or controller setup so that you can have 2 stages when you push out the chest in the truck. one for lining up and the second to activate the ports on the packing stations.
You can stack crop crates on top of each other.. you don't need the second deck, also you can weld the crates to the trailer and I think that can help with frame rates..
18:40 truckers pull the trailer when the trailer legs to make sure the trailer is attach then put up the legs. My dad is a trucker
The spudling gun does a quarter of the damage the regular spud gun does.
I have one good use for piston engines, since they have torque, no fuel consumption, and TORQUE, they would be amazing for massive loads for your packing adventures.
