At 4:25, that is called a carrinha -celular in portuguese which may be translated to cellular-van or van-cell. That used when an inmate need to be transported between prisons, to court, to go to the doctor, a close family funeral, school, university or to vote or other, without actually leaving a cell or being in freedom.

In Portugal most companies engage in some form of social support, be it charities of their own, supporting communities by funding projects, etc.

Vehicle size in Europe and Japan is traditionally just enough for your everyday needs. In the US the rule seems to be that bigger is always better, but bigger is not always more capable. It depends on the job. I’m not a fan of Fiat, but if you look at the fiat panda 4x4, that thing can drive through places that other more rugged and powerful SUVs cannot. The Suzuki Samurai was another one like it. Maybe it’s to do with the fact that petrol has been more expensive in Europe than in the US, but over in this side of the pond, we seem to be more frugal on average. I 'm the owner of a 23 years old Citroën Saxo diesel, running perfectly, only 4 litres of gasoil in 100 km. The air condicioning has the same gas when i bought it in july 1999...and still freezes...
Not really having a great weekend. Living in Portugal, I had the chance to see those emergency vehicles in action. Wildfires are burning. 5:07 was a prisoner transport.
1. Yep we have those BIRD scooters in Portugal too 2. 04:20 I belive thats used for prision transports 3. 06:50 Never seen it, I don't live near the ocean, but thats cool af I need to move to the coast now 4. 10:10 Renault Clio from 98? 5. Love the videos keep up the great work :)
Brown " transit van " its a prison transport, the Amarock is a apecial edition for lifeguard services, we use to have the Mitsubishi L200 SeaMaster ( also looked cool as hell ) that greenish car was a Peugeot 106 MK1
1:07 - One of those was the Pope's escort for his travels to the events inside Lisbon during this week's World Youth Day (Jornada Mundial da Juventude). 😉 2:04 - The one in the front looks like a BMW, the one in the back is clearly a Honda (look at the logo on the fuel tank). 7:25 - That's in Matosinhos (near Porto) and it's a sculpture to honour the fishermen of the city donated by a US american artist called Janet Echelman. She called it "She Changes" but some people think it represents either a fishing net or an anemone. 8:15 - That's a Fiat Tipo. 8:30 - No, it's a Passat. 11:03 - Jeeps have been very popular for several years, other than that we only have some Chevys like the Aveo, the Spark, the Cruze or the Captiva (but they are no longer sold in Portugal) and the occasional Mustang.
08:30 yellow ambulance is a wolkswagen crafter, is driven by a paramedic and carries a emergency nurce. Behind is wolkswagen passat it is driven by a emergency nurce and it carrys a doctor. The red vans are ambulances from firefighters they carry 2 two paramedics.
Here in the Netherlands RAM trucks are very popular, most of them are 1500 Hemi's. Someone in my family is a official RAM dealership owner in the Netherlands.
Just for context the Red Ambulances they are part of Firefighter its an ambulance but its a part of the firefighter, and the yellow ones are what we call as INEM!
10:20 Peugeot 106 In Europe, from American cars you can see Corvettes, Mustangs, Ford Panther platform cars (CrownVic, etc.), and from new Jeeps and Mopars (because they are Stelantis). Some American land yachts appear (old Cadillac, Lincoln), which is someone's weekend car, but big American pickups are not worth it in Europe, they use a lot of fuel and are expensive to maintain and register (in Europe, annual inspections of older cars are mandatory)
@@koga1330 Tesla - yes, kind of true, though you'd see few driving through Germany and surrounding countries, so I wouldn't call it huge for the time being and I see people here tend to purchase EVs from brands like VW, KIA, Skoda.. I believe that these days even luxury brands like Mercedes, BMW or Volvo sell more EVs. But I believe Teslas are very popular I.e. in Norway, so maybe it's true for your place.
Ford Europe cars, while belonging to the same Ford group ( american ) are way diferent from their american cousins. Probably the "most american" Ford in Europe is the Mustang...
Here are the vehicules that picked your eyes : 3:28 Volkswagen Touran 3 (2010 - 2016), compact monospace, essentially a heavelly reskinned gen 2. 5:28 Renault Master 2 (around 2000 to... 2009 i think?) Biggest van class, has "ludospace" and minibus variants. 6:43 Renault Clio 3 ( 2005 - 2012/2015), 3 - door version, phase 2 (post 2009) 7:30 Volkswagen Sharan 3 (2017 - present ?), familly / uper - sized monospace. 8:13 that and the one prior : Fiat Tipo (Egea in some places), 2016 - ????, 5 door version. Then, in order behind : Renault Captur 2 (2019 or 2021 (?) - present), small multitask SUV; Mercedes-Benz Sprinter (at least 3rd or 4th gen), same class as Renault Master. Then, Volkswagen Passat 5 Station Wagaon (2000 - 2005), familly - oriented class. 8:48 Citroën Berlingo 3, compact van class, Twin of the Peugeot Partner / Rifter, around 2020 - present. Version here : standard size. 10:12 Probably Peugeot 106 (1990s - 2005). There is a Citroën that looks very similar too. 11:10 Ford gave some bangers to Europe, primarly with the Capri, Cortina, Escort, Fiesta, Focus, C-Max and first gen Kuga. Chevrolet left just as it was starting to pierce the market. The Orlando, Tracks, Spark, Avel and Captiva were the few that you could see somewhat regurlarly on the road (not every dagmy though). Jeep has the renegade as its hot seller here.
Fords you mentioned are made by Ford of Europe, not Ford US. Only overlapping cars between Ford EU and US are 4th gen Mondes (2nd gen Fusion in US), Transit, Ranger, Focus (which is built in Europe) and now Explorer
The most beautiful McDonald's in the world is in Portugal, more specifically in Praça da Liberdade, in Porto, in a building where the famous Café Imperial operated for years, hence it is known as McDonald's Imperial.
I am not sure these ambulances were the same color but there is actually a standard for the color of ambulances in Europe. It is called Sulphur Yellow. Not all agencies use it but have a look at Hungarian or British vehicles.
5:05 prisoner transport, but Portugal has had new vans for some time now, 11:35 is used to rescue bathers(not sure if is the corret name) , so there must be a beach nearby
when i was watching this i was like wait i know that place. The structor that u saw in 7:25 is in Matosinhos and whats cool about it is that we use to have a racing circuit passing right there on the other side of that roudabout (ua-cam.com/video/BPdCwmMZhKM/v-deo.html). The structors name is anemona that translates to anemone and It was designed and created by American artist Janet Echelman in 2005. It was born to pay tribute to Matosinhos, especially to the fishermen of Matosinhos who, bravely, go to the sea to fish to feed the population.
Canada the same: for police, fire, ambulance sirens on, all vehicles must stop and or move out of the way. Cars stopped at red lights in intersections move their cars out of the way. Can be charged if cars do not slow down or move over for emergency vehicles or tow trucks that are stopped with sirens or lights flashing., omg even people walking or at crosswalks stop
Good morning, I really enjoy seeing your reactions to Portugal, and as Portuguese as I am, I wanted to make a suggestion to react to the Portugal Day parade that is celebrated on June 10th and also to show We are very well prepared in case of a possible crisis. It's a long video, but I'd like you to watch it to the end because there are very interesting vehicles that I know you'll like. Big kisses to you and family.
By the phone number 112 on them, the red vehicles are fire brigade. Ford is the most common US car brand here (Germany). You see the occasional Jeep and a few Chryslers although they are becoming less frequent for some reason. - and once in a blue moon I see a Humvee. And, of course, these days you see a few Teslas. Everything else with US origin is very, very rare. Most common here are VW, Audi, Scoda, Seat, Porsche (which all belong together) and of course, the other German brands, like Mercedes, BMW. Of course, the French brands are also pretty common here: Citroen, Renault, Peugot. Ah, and Fiat. Nissan and Toyota, alog with Corean Kia are also to be mentioned. Other brands (Volvo, Range Rover, ... ) are around but not frequent.
In Portugal we have 5 types of police 1st is the normal police then is the transit police 3rd is lisbon transit police 4th is the blue one which is for more like crowd control and finally is GNR the national guard
4:38 that one is an older van to transport prisoners from jail to court or between prisons... But now they are quite more modern and usually a deep blue almost black
6:57 That’s an ISN vehicle. Usually used for patrolling the beaches and save bathers and swimmers. It’s a Bay Watch type of thing. ISN - Instituto de Socorros a Náufragos (saving ships crews).
That green car is a very old Renault. As you can see in these videos, we are already professionals at creating emergency corridors. Even with traffic, we make it through the corridor quickly. I'll try to send you a photo from 2008, I don't know if I can Even with traffic, we make it through the corridor quickly.
11:00 the top 3 American brands sold in Portugal so far this year are: 11th - Ford - 5983 units 14th - Tesla - 4604 units 32th - Jeep - 777 units Most sold so far is Peugeot with 17656 units. On a side note those are the only American car brands I saw anywhere near the top 70 (bellow that is under 100 units sold).
That white 3 door hatchback in Renault Clio 3. It was made from 2005 till 2012. The teal one is Peugeot 106 i think. It is so interesting that they have 112 for ambulance and firefighters as we do.
Richard James McDonald (February 16, 1909 - July 14, 1998) and Maurice James McDonald (November 26, 1902 - December 11, 1971), together known as the McDonald Brothers, were American entrepreneurs who founded the fast food company McDonald's. They opened the original McDonald's restaurant in 1940 in San Bernardino, California, where they created the Speedee Service System to produce their meals, a method that became the standard for fast food. After hiring Ray Kroc as their franchise agent in 1954, they continued to run the company until they were bought out by Kroc in 1961. 🇺🇸😎👍🏼
My brother and I here in Australia have a tradition, on sunny Sundays we will find a pub close To a beach or happening spot and watch traffic over a beer or two. No matter what state or territory we are in. People bring out the nice cars for a lap on a sunny Sunday. Love it.. our girlfriends don't get it sooo, win/win 🤣🍻
The Volkswagen Crafter is the same Vehicle like the Frightliner Van in the US. Its developed together with Daimler Chrysler. So just the Frontdesign is Different and there are differtent Engines.
The old Ford Transit is a prisioner transport. Sometimes in Portugal they don't on the sirens, only if really necessary, because of the noise they make.
11:36 is a Life Guard Vehicle, You can tell by the rescue buoys, (otherwise known as rescue tube or rescue torpedo), in the back of the vehicle, Anyone that has been playing GTA that long will recognise them, 🇬🇧😎👍🏼
American cars in Norway; Tesla is selling very well, The new Mustang is selling well, but the big Pick-ups are not selling well! They become incredibly expensive due to the customs rates in Norway, this due to engine volume and weight. Passenger cars are still not popular in Norway, unless it is a classic car! They are very popular, ranging from the early 30s up to the early 80s. Most have been restored to either standard or hotrods, and most are in mint condition. But one thing you are probably wondering is, do Norwegians use their cars all year round? NO WAY, as soon as the thermometer shows below +10 degrees, all classics disappear. They are parked either inside a warm garage or inside a shed somewhere until the snow is gone and the thermometer reads +10 or more. And if you meet an American in the winter, it's newer Jeeps or an Explorer or a van. From what I hear, the new Bronco is also sold here, and has become a bit popular, so maybe it will also be seen in the winter.
in europe the ford fiesta mondeo and focus are very popular as cars. the ford transit is also popular. i see here in the netherlands jeeps often and sometimes a corvette but the are not that popular since most of them are diesel and are heavily taxed.
The "Undercover Van" is an old Ford Transit. It could be a Prisoner transporter. The VW Amarok could be Lifeguard truck. At 08:14 the frist Police was Nissan and the Second was an old VW Passat. At 10:17 the little green Cars is an Citroen Saxo or an Peugeot 106 both Cars are the same, but they have different Brands badges. Yes, Jeeps are also available in Europe, but expensive. Most 4x4 vehicles are of Japanese or Korean design.
6:49 that one is from instituto de socorros a náufragos or shipweck aid institute from the navy, probably going to assist someone in trouble at a wild beach or some fishermen in distress
VW ambulance is called VW Crafter, it was a twin of Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 906. Red Renault ambulance was Renault Mascott, predesessor of current Renault Master.
hehe.. answering your question, American cars in Europe are not common at all, rare even, I mean.. to see a Cadillac in Europe is a selfy moment because it's so rare to find one..lol.. Fords you see sometimes like Jeeps, but not often, and recently quite a lot of Teslas, otherwise very little, most vehicle brands are European or Japanese 😉 Polaris is big here though.. in Jet Skis for water and snow and the such...
9:53 it's a mini truck. It can be a Nissan cabstar, a mitsubishi canter or a Toyota dina, there are other brands but they are either lightweight like the Renault master or a iveco daily. Those mini trucks can load easily up to 3 metric tons. You should check it out
Those high end veichles usualy are siezed from criminals. Booth, GNR and PSP have it. But they are used only for public promotion. On GNR, some.of those veichles are also used for organs transportation.
8:32 VW Passat Estate car, can't remember the model number. 10:14 Peugeot 106, was a very common car here in the UK but now a pretty rare model here now.
Police ambulance And so on are adapted to the traffic situations they have more weight and stronger motors that usual models ... The really fast response units are far more complicated to see, sometimes you can see a normal fast response police car and one or two civilian car's what seems a family car but they are special unit Cars specialized operation units that can handle any kind off situations that envolve national security...
American cars was present in Portugal until the sixtees. They was seen has luxury cars. After that they become too thirsty for portuguese pockets...Some are kept has classic cars. The Jeep brand sold here are mainly medium cars with fiat engines.
7:11 portuguese here It is a beach vehicle. In zones where you have the sea police (polícia marítima), you often see these cars going on the sand patroling the beach! 10:15 it is either a pegeut or a citröen. We actually have a lot of thise cars bc we are poor😅 11:20 not as common as asian or eyropean cars, but you do see some jeep, a few chevvys, etc
There are quite a lot of Jeeps and Mustangs about in my (small) town in the UK (they are sold here), also a few Corvettes and 1 full black n' white police livery Crown Vic!
I was recently in couple of McDonald's: Spanish were the best deserts good coffe and ice-cream,French have nice coffee but they slowwww with service, Irish have best breakfast and burgers meat...

Not really having a great weekend. Living in Portugal, I had the chance to see those emergency vehicles in action. Wildfires are burning.
5:07 was a prisoner transport.
1. Yep we have those BIRD scooters in Portugal too
2. 04:20 I belive thats used for prision transports
3. 06:50 Never seen it, I don't live near the ocean, but thats cool af I need to move to the coast now
4. 10:10 Renault Clio from 98?
5. Love the videos keep up the great work :)
actually at the 10 min it's a first gen Peugeot 106
@@RedLine0069 👌👌 thats it
10:10 Citroën ZX is my guess.
O veículo aos 4.50 e de levar prisioneiros ao tribunal
10:10 its a Peugeot 106
The red ambulance is for firefighters, the yellow one is for emergencies and doctors are often there to assist in accidents or transport organs.
2:04 - The one in the front looks like a BMW, the one in the back is clearly a Honda (look at the logo on the fuel tank).
8:15 That's a regular Fiat Tipo not the SW variant
aren't all those Chevy's not beeing sold anymore?
@@ChR0nos_7734- The answer is in my comment, didn't you read it?
4:52 That's a prisoner transport van so it is technically a police vehicle but used by the prison guard division only.
Ford is the only American brand which is common anywhere in Europe. Although the models we have here are probably not common sight in the US.
INEM = Instituto Nacional de Emergência Médica (Institute National for Emergency Medicine ) Portugal
05:04 more like jail transport van.
The VW Anarok is for marine rescue and is usually used on unattended beaches. There are usually two members of the navy with a lifeguard license.
Here in the Netherlands RAM trucks are very popular, most of them are 1500 Hemi's. Someone in my family is a official RAM dealership owner in the Netherlands.
That old Ford Transit at 5:00 is a prison van I'd say. Transporting naughty boys to court, hence incognito🥸😅
You have to look at emergency vehicles Portugal collection, it's pretty good!!
Just for context the Red Ambulances they are part of Firefighter its an ambulance but its a part of the firefighter, and the yellow ones are what we call as INEM!
10:15 its a Peugeot 106
10:20 Peugeot 106
In Europe, from American cars you can see Corvettes, Mustangs, Ford Panther platform cars (CrownVic, etc.), and from new Jeeps and Mopars (because they are Stelantis).
Some American land yachts appear (old Cadillac, Lincoln), which is someone's weekend car, but big American pickups are not worth it in Europe, they use a lot of fuel and are expensive to maintain and register (in Europe, annual inspections of older cars are mandatory)
Huge fan of yours, I love your videos especially the emergency one's
The old van is a Prisonier Transporter.
The most common American car brand in Europe by far is the Ford - I think Fiesta, Focus, Kuga and Mondeo, some Rangers too.
Also Tesla is huge in Europe. You can also find Stellantis brands. GM has basically left Europe so not many of their vehicles anymore.
Here are the vehicules that picked your eyes :
3:28 Volkswagen Touran 3 (2010 - 2016), compact monospace, essentially a heavelly reskinned gen 2.
5:28 Renault Master 2 (around 2000 to... 2009 i think?) Biggest van class, has "ludospace" and minibus variants.
6:43 Renault Clio 3 ( 2005 - 2012/2015), 3 - door version, phase 2 (post 2009)
7:30 Volkswagen Sharan 3 (2017 - present ?), familly / uper - sized monospace.
I think the van at minute 4:40 is for the transfer of prisoners. Note that it has 3 vents on the sides. That's why it's not so flashy
You are right, it is.
11:15
Jeep started becoming popular in Portugal since Fiat bought Chrysler.
Jeep has now models based on Fiat 500X.
6:22 you have to see the McDonald's that exists in the city of Porto! It is considered one of the most beautiful!
The last one is a beach lifeguard, truck. Some also use ATVs.
Those motorcycles @1:42 are Yamaha FJR1300AP's !
Yes, there are Jeeps, Mustangs, and a few other muscle cars. But due to very high gas prices at about $2.00 USD per (letter), they are rear
Ford is the most popular brand in the uk. Here there is a ford fiesta or focus every second or third car
2:44 yeah its bird, lime, etc
6:57
That’s an ISN vehicle.
11:00 the top 3 American brands sold in Portugal so far this year are:
11th - Ford - 5983 units
14th - Tesla - 4604 units
32th - Jeep - 777 units
Most sold so far is Peugeot with 17656 units.
On a side note those are the only American car brands I saw anywhere near the top 70 (bellow that is under 100 units sold).
The cool red net that you see is a monument called Anémona! 😉
Design by an American artist called JANET ECHELMAN.
Very nice livery on the Amarok, You should check out Irish emergency vehicles at some point.
Obrigado Ian,my city buddy. Thanks
Watching you makes me want to go to the USA to see what's on the roads there x:D
That white 3 door hatchback in Renault Clio 3. It was made from 2005 till 2012. The teal one is Peugeot 106 i think. It is so interesting that they have 112 for ambulance and firefighters as we do.
11:12 Funny as you should mention corvettes as when I was down in Plymouth (England) I've seen at least 2 older style corvettes
Have a look at some UMM videos, its a portuguese made jeep that is pretty much an off road armored car, and still loved my many of us
The Volkswagen Crafter is the same Vehicle like the Frightliner Van in the US. Its developed together with Daimler Chrysler. So just the Frontdesign is Different and there are differtent Engines.
The old Ford Transit is a prisioner transport. Sometimes in Portugal they don't on the sirens, only if really necessary, because of the noise they make.
We have jeep in Scotland but a lot of garages won't work on them so you have to to the main dealer, which isn't convenient
11:36 is a Life Guard Vehicle,
You can tell by the rescue buoys, (otherwise known as rescue tube or rescue torpedo), in the back of the vehicle,
Anyone that has been playing GTA that long will recognise them,
🇬🇧😎👍🏼
Jeeps are probably the most common American brand seen in Europe as a daily driver.
Yellow with Number 112 is your 911.
INEM is also an ambulance
The Lightbar on that first car was the Federal Signal Valor which is a angled lightbar!
5:03 Thats a prisioner transport van here in Portugal
6:49 that one is from instituto de socorros a náufragos or shipweck aid institute from the navy, probably going to assist someone in trouble at a wild beach or some fishermen in distress
VW ambulance is called VW Crafter, it was a twin of Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 906. Red Renault ambulance was Renault Mascott, predesessor of current Renault Master.
From american cars I would say Ford is the most popular barnd. And the most popular model would be kuga, mondeo or focus.
hehe.. answering your question, American cars in Europe are not common at all, rare even, I mean.. to see a Cadillac in Europe is a selfy moment because it's so rare to find one..lol..
Fords you see sometimes like Jeeps, but not often, and recently quite a lot of Teslas, otherwise very little, most vehicle brands are European or Japanese 😉
Polaris is big here though.. in Jet Skis for water and snow and the such...
10:14 Peugeot 106, was a very common car here in the UK but now a pretty rare model here now.
saves lives, the van in question is preferred.
works on the beaches.🇵🇹
I guess Chrysler is kinda popular in Europe. Especially the vans :)
What name do they sell them as in Europe? I've not seen a vehicle branded as Chrysler for years.
@@frankmitchell3594 Still as Chrysler. The PT Cruiser and the Voyager are the two models I see the most in CZ :)
4:53 prison van yoou welcome xD
7:11 portuguese here
It is a beach vehicle. In zones where you have the sea police (polícia marítima), you often see these cars going on the sand patroling the beach!
10:15 it is either a pegeut or a citröen. We actually have a lot of thise cars bc we are poor😅
11:20 not as common as asian or eyropean cars, but you do see some jeep, a few chevvys, etc
it is This light-colored van is for transporting prisoners. From prison to the Court or elsewhere
There are quite a lot of Jeeps and Mustangs about in my (small) town in the UK (they are sold here), also a few Corvettes and 1 full black n' white police livery Crown Vic!
The portuguese police also has a Nissan GTR and a few years ago, they had some Subaru Imprezas
I was recently in couple of McDonald's: Spanish were the best deserts good coffe and ice-cream,French have nice coffee but they slowwww with service, Irish have best breakfast and burgers meat...
