I´d say the entire Iberian peninsula is pretty much on the top of my list... Got a small glimps of that on a trip to Mallorca. We stayed as far from the tourist hotspots as we could and it was just a good time.
Quick question: Why are brazilians going to Portugal? I mean, as i could see, there is a war between you two, and a lot of brazilians seem to hate portuguese people for things that happened during the colonization, and for other weird reasons. Im not portuguese or brazilian, but its quite strange to see a country full of hate for something that was, idk, 300 or 400 years ago?
@@EvenWaterRunsDeep There are no war between us, we are two nations living in peace. Brazilian People and prople from other Portuguese Speakers Countries around the world, have easy access to Portugal, that's why we come here. And besides the jokes about the colonization period, we don't have any issues nowadays.
@@EvenWaterRunsDeep The past was left behind. Nowadays the world is different. As a Portuguese person, I consider the Brazilian people to be very caring, hard-working people who, like many Portuguese people, are looking for a better life in other countries. There are always many xenephobic people around the world but the majority are not. I consider Brazilians to be equal, as Portuguese people we have a lot in common.
Denspurtaer Lol, you're just listening to modern-day woke culture. Portugal and Brazil share a close connection. Before Europeans expanded their influence worldwide, Brazil did not exist. While these regions had native tribes, there was no unity among them. Unless you are a native, you are likely a descendant of Europe or Africa. The narrative of making wealthy European nations feel guilty for their past is indicative of a woke mental disorder. Brazil went independent from Portugal by the son of the King of Portugal. He wanted to be King and not prince and he decided to just stop tied with his father when his parents returned to Lisbon. During the Napoleon years, the capital of Portugal was Rio de Janeiro. The Portuguese initiated the exploration of new territories, with the blessing of God, of course. What schools often neglect to teach is how prosperous many former colonies were before gaining independence from European rule. I recently watched a video showcasing the capital of Angola, Luanda, before it gained independence from Portugal just 60 years ago. The footage, shared by a former black leader, depicted an incredible city. I was at a loss for words, and the African leader expressed a desire for Portugal to still be ruling over them, as the African rebels had destroyed everything they had built, unable to govern effectively. South Africa provides another example of how independence from former European colonial powers led to the destruction of nations. As for Brazil, it's a nice country but if they only stayed with Portugal they could have been very prosperous. However, I think Portuguese and Brazilians are overall very close. I know that a lot of Portuguese people have a problem with the immigration problem, but that is normal in every country among very vocal people. It's happening everywhere as as a woke culture we are becoming more and more divided.
As a Portuguese person livings in Aveiro, I didn't expect to see this in your channel but I'm so happy about it!! A Portuguse dish you should know about is "Francesinha".
Im spanish, and i feel and need that i have to travel to Portugal someday, even if they are my opposite side neighbours, cause im from Barcelona, to me its like an unknown country, and as long as i know, general media in spain doesnt talk to much about it, like if it doesnt exist, but being in the same peninsula, we should be better neighbours and know better each other.
hello mate, welcome to our country, and out of curiosity that you haven't visited us yet, we refer to the spanish people of galicia, and to those who live close to us, as, "our brothers" because we both descend from the kingdom from león and castile... a portuguese hug.... 🎉
If the Spanish really wanted to know Portugal and the Portuguese, they wouldn't go to Portugal with an air of superiority and pretend that they don't understand our language. We Portuguese are polyglots, we speak several languages, we are taught in schools besides our mother tongue. To say that for you Portugal doesn't exist, excuse my sincerity, but it's just silly of you. What a lack of general culture.... Barcelona is beautiful and reminds us of Lisbon and also Florence, do you want to find out why? Come visit Lisbon and discover the similarities.
for me we should be only one country like we did before, not spain, not Portugal but only 1 country. we would be much better and stronger, unfortunly for the humans the ego is bigger than the humility.
If memory serves me right, the colors of the portuguese flag do have meaning. The red represents the blood loss of those who fought for the country. While the green represents the hope for the future. And the 7 castles in the flag are considered a symbol of the Portuguese victories over their Moorish enemies, under Afonso III, who supposedly captured seven enemy fortresses in the course of his conquest of the Algarve, concluded in 1249
Also, the portuguese government ordered some portuguese flags, to be hung outside the European Parliament in Brussels, but the flags were made in China and had chinese Pagodas instead of european castles, in our "esfera armilar" at the center of the flag. The chinese fake flag was only noticed after it was hoisted in Brussels. A portuguese diplomat went running outside ordering the chinese fake portuguese flag to be removed from outside the EU parliament. Funny stuff!
Sou portuguesa e não poderia estar mais contente com este seu vídeo. Nada como nos virem visitar e conhecer melhor a nossa gastronomia e toda a nossa cultura. ❤
In Portugal today, the English language is learned from kindergarten to college. In the old days (70s/80s) we learned English in prep school that's one of the reasons why Portuguese people speak English, another reason is that the movies that are shown on TV are subtitled in Portuguese, keeping the original audio, be it English (UK), English (American), French, Spanish, Japanese or even Turkish 😜
About Canada, here´s a fun fact: Ancient portuguese maps have the word CANADA on it, but in earlier explorer times (1480...), that means »Cá Nada« or in english »Here Nothing«. They saw lots of land and lack of people to trade goods. That`s the origin of the name 🙂
My friend Jose, your comment is the very best I've seen in a long time. I still have chest pains from laughing so much and so hard. I have no idea if your comment is true or not, but it deserves an Oscar. Kind regards.
The guy said: "while it may not be the oldest country in Europe" But he's wrong, Portugal literally IS the oldest country in Europe, Lisbon is literally over 400 years older than Rome
Sorry, Nuno, that's not true. Rome was founded in the 8th century b.C., circa 750 b.C. The date you saying (more or less 1100 b.C) reports to the mythical foundation by Ulisses, which we know is just that: mythical (I'm an History teatcher).
9:32 Portugal flag's colours have a specific meaning: the red stands for the blood, the conquer and the courage of those who died for their country, and the green represents the hope of portuguese people in a better future.
Manueline armillary sphere represents the maritime discoveries. The "Quinas" (blue shields with 5 white dots) repesent the Battle of Ourique, won by D. Afonso Henriques (!st King of Portugal) to the Moors. White Dots represent the wounds of Christ. The (7) castles represent the battles won by D. Afonso II to the Moors.
@@Antawnyoo that would all be good and dandy if it wasn't all bs made up after the fact. Starting with the details and ending with the colors: - Armillary sphere: was never the symbol of Portugal or discoveries, it was the symbol of Brazil and first appeared on the new flag of the Kingdom of Portugal, Brazil and the Algarves during the Napoleonic war when the Kingdom of Portugal had to be transfer to Brazil. So to the normal Portuguese symbols (coat of arms) the armillary sphere was added to signify the "kingdom" of Brazil since the court of Portugal was now there. When the court returned to Portugal the armillary sphere was removed from the flag. Fast forward a century or so and we have the Republican revolution (or as we know it, _"Implantação da República")_ and the new flag (the current one) is presented and the armillary sphere reappears, being retcon into meaning discovery and blablabla. - The Quinas (5 escudetes) have had many meanings throughout history. First explanation was that each of the _quinas_ were a mark where the shield with the first Portuguese flag (the simple blue cross on a white background) was damaged and as was tradition back then they didn't fix the shield but liked the way the flag was damaged on those spots so they kept it with "escudetes" _(quinas)_ in the place where the nails were. At that time the number of inner dots on the "escudetes" (the dots are called _"besantes")_ were 11, so there goes the Christ wounds (it only came to be 5 dots in 1485 with D. João II). - The castles: first flag with castles was the D. Afonso III flag (1248), and had 16 castles. Then in 1385 D. João I commissioned a new flag and this one had 12 castles. And again in 1485 D. João II changed them to 8 castles (remember, he also changed the _"besantes"_ to 5, from 11). It would be changed to 7 castles in the second half of the XVI and stay like that till today... so lots of changes to the number of castles, none meant anything apart that stylistically when they first appeared on the flag they were "fashion". Now for the colour of the flag: - Green and red where merely the colours of the Portuguese Republican Party and of the two revolts: January 31st 1891, Oporto; and October 5th 1910, the day of _"Implantação da República"._ It was only afterwards that the meaning was retconned to have a more patriotic meaning and less a party (Portuguese Republican Party) ownership. So, to sum it up: all we are told about the symbology of the flag is bs. It's a nice story but bs. It all comes down to aesthetics and political party representation.
@@DDanV I sincerely don't know if you're right, you seem very sure of what you're saying (but that could be an "oratory" trick to make people believe you), but one thing, at least, you got wrong: although not appearing on the monarchic flag, the armillary sphere was adopted by D. Manuel I, as a symbol of his dominance over (much of) the world.
I toured Europe a few years ago with my girlfriend, and our trip concluded in Portugal. While Europe boasts incredible nations, Portugal left an indelible impression on us. Initially planning for just a five-day stay, we extended our trip to a month. Although cities like London, Paris, Rome, and Brussels are undeniably beautiful, they somehow fell short of our expectations. People seemed less friendly, the food generally disappointing, and everything came with a hefty price tag. Contrary to our expectations, Portugal turned out to be incredibly charming with outstanding cuisine and it's culture is just captivating and rich. I would highly recommend it to anyone, although, of course, Europe as a continent is truly a gem. The feeling of being in another world is palpable; the contrast between the ancient buildings of Europe and the artificiality of our modern life in the US and Canada is striking. On a different note, I hope Europe effectively manages its migrant crisis to safeguard its rich history, which is at risk of being lost. Madeira, the Hawaii of Europe is a secret the rich Europeans don't want Americans and Canadians to know about. Stay away, this place is not for us Americans!!! haha .... Also, check out the Azores...it's a natural beauty.
I'm portuguese and that video only shows a slice of Portugal is. We have so much, although we are small, we are massive in culture, cuisine, place to go and stuff to do. Great videos btw 👌
Been there several times… Algarve coast in summer is wonderful…Madeira and The Azores island in late spring is awesome….. even if it’s raining quite often….. and the cherry on top of the cake..is the city of Porto….amaizing historical center …. and nice beaches in the west by the Atlantic Ocean …..love it 🥰
I believe Portugal is the sunniest country in Europe! We do get snow on mountaintops or when temperatures drop really low in the North but it's rare to say the least. Last time it snowed where I live was I believe 2008.

A good pastry is pasteis de nata. Its yummmy, its a very old and famous pastry.
3 Solar panels - I have them and so do all my neighbors. The main electricity company in Portugal assembles the panels and we pay an amount of €30 over 2 years. Result
Glad you checked Portugal, sea side is beautiful, but so inside in mountains areas and countryside. As you just mentioned in your title, Portugal is a long some of the oldest European countries but never had such popularity as France or Spain , for Tourism. Great video and great country, being Portuguese /French it's always a pleasure to see more about my parents country. Portuguese people are very kind and welcoming, you have lot of good sea food , but good wine ( you should know Porto wine from Porto a Portuguese city) you should try meals like arroz de marisco, bacalhau a Braz, francesinha, leitao , churrasco and so much more ;)
Ah, Portugal! I wanted to be at Lagos, eating grilled swordfish or cod and having some shots of medronho... Or a fado-bar in Lisbon, having some porto... Maybe it is a good idea living in Portugal once I am a pensioner...
The South side of the countrie (Alentejo and Algarve) are filled with foreigners that choosed to come live their lifes after pension!Portugal its perffect for that too ;)

Portuguese cuisine is very good. You gotta check out a "Francesinha" (traditional dish from the city of Porto, is a sandwich served in a plate covered in cheese and spicy sauce) and some "Bifanas" (thin spicy pork strips usually eaten in a bread roll).
Green means the hope they had, Red means the blood shared in the battles wixh is bigger, there you have the yellow croyn, 7 castels in it to figure the most important ones and the seven hiils, the shields that have to do with chtistianity.

The thing about portugese food/cuisine is its not flashy to look at. It's not designed to hack your taste buds. But it digests clean and leaves you feeling healthy and strong. We like hearty dishes.
in our flag green means hope, and red means all the blood we shed to exist, the castels means the king was king in five continents, the sphere was our naval traditions..
Hi, long time following your channel, great and very pleasant surprise to see this video. On the culinary front do try "pastéis de nata" (really not custard tarts more like custard tarts 2.0) and anything "à brás" (cod, tuna, chicken, vegetables), the potato chips really make it for me ;-) P.S. I am originally from Évora which makes a brief appearance there so I'm thrilled about that too and my profile pic here is of a Roman Temple in Évora btw. Thanks & keep the awesome content coming!
The predominant red color in the flag of Portugal represents the conquest, the blood, and the courage of those who died for the nation. On the other hand, green represents the hope of the Portuguese people.
Fish in Portugal is amazing in general, but Setubal is probably one of the most popular specially for it's "choco frito" (translated i think it's called Fried Cuttlefish)

About Madeira, a fun fact for you - Madeira produces a famous type of fortified wine with the same name - That was the wine used for toasting on the signing of the American Declaration of Independence. As the legend goes - Washington's favorite wine was in fact Madeira. It is a desert wine, and a very fortified one at that, so drink responsibly.
Fun fact: in Terceira (an island in the azores) you can go inside a volcano, it's called "Algar do Carvão". The video didn't say a lot about the azores and madeira islands but you should check them out, trust me, you will not be disappointed
Yay!! My country! :D Nice vid, you should visit the great beaches! I wish the original video was a bit slower pace :) Edit to answer your question: Weather is fairly moderate, near the coast line it's usually between 5 or 10C (40/50F) during winter up to temps around 30/36C (86/96F) during the peak of summer. If you go inland, closer to the border with Spain (where I'm from), temps can go as low as -5/-10C (15/20F) in winter and 40/45C (105/110F) during the hot summer months. It doesn't rain a lot even during winter, so it's usual to have a lot of sunny winter days. I would say, a good time to visit, is during spring (May/June) or fall (September/October).
*"How did someone build this?"* 1:42 I think they stacked stones from the bottom to the top. Doing it the other way around would make things really complicated.

one little fact about the portuguese flag is that every single detail has a meaning like the red part meaning all the people that died and their courage during wars and the green meaning hope the armillary sphere meaning the world portugues navigators discovered...etc.
There where two portuguese men, Joaquim and Manoel, looking to an aquarium. Joaquim said: "Look, Manoel, I'll show you how the stronger mind can dominate the weaker one". Then Joaquim kept staring to the fish inside the aquarium for 15 minutes straight. After that Manoel left for using the bathroom. When he came back he said: "Could you control the fish's mind, Joaquim?", which Joaquim replied with "glub...glub...glub"

Portugal is really an awesome country, however it is not underrated, as more and more people get to know and love it. A few months ago I went to Faro and found out there is another vacation house boom, with Americans among the most interested buyers!
Portugal has places where temperature drops below 0⁰C. Most of what you have seen is the Portugal that is shown to tourists... beaches and sea. But this small country also has mountains, such as Serra da Estrela. I am only talking about Portugal in the European continent, unfortunately I have never been to the Islands of Madeira or Azores. In Portugal you can be on top of a snowy mountain now like Serra da Estrela and at a sunny beach in less than 2 hours by car. In what concerns monuments and history, Portugal is much richer than you have been shown. You have Oporto, which is the second major town in Portugal, and it is in the North of the Country. If you are a wine lover you probably have seen this word on a bottle... The famous Oporto wine takes its name from this town. In portuguese the city is known as Porto, but we usually put a definite article before the word. So what to portuguese know as o Porto, became Oporto to most foreigners. Portugal has cities such as Viseu, Guarda, Seia, Braga, that are not as known to turists as Lisbon or the Algarve because they aren't close to the sea. But there are beautiful river and waterfalls almost unknown in Portugal. And if you like ancient monuments... the inland portuguese towns have lots of them to be seen! Old Cathedral, churches, Castles, Museums... If you like to see remains of ancient towns, you should google Conimbriga. Do not mistake it for Coimbra, which is near and has one of the eldest universities in Europe. In Conimbriga you may find the preserved ruins of an old roman town... As little as this Country may be, it has several amazing things to see, most of them unknown to most tourists...
Yeah Portugal is amazing. I'm from Coimbra (main land) but I'm currently living in Madeira island. Our country is composed by archipelagos (Madeira and Azores), and the main land. Portugal is beautiful and Madeira island has won the best island destination award.
One of our royal princes of old, D. Pedro, dug up his dead mistress (the love of his life, 3 children born) and made the whole court pay homage to her and kiss her hand when he became king, because his father had her killed. He ripped the hearts (literally) of her assassins thus being called The Cruel.

Now both the shipyard and bar are long gone as i recall from looking at google maps years ago. Portugal is a small country like my country ( Denmark ) are. So we are very nice folks. FYI Columbus did NOT discover the Americas, we Vikings was there 500 or so years before him.
Columbus put America in history books, so we can say he discovered it. I get what you’re saying but if we follow that logic then knowing humanity originated in Africa, the American Natives discovered it first a couple million years before the Vikings. You get what I mean?
They didn't speak of the wine! We have some of the best wines in the world, we just don't have the best marketing for them. About the temperature we have places where in the summer Temps reach 55°C and others in the winter gets -12°C. In portugal you can find it all a short distance from any place.
I think you can see the sights better if you react to ryan shirley (25 best places to visit in Portugal) or Dave in Portugal (Portugal: top 12 places to visit 2024) I'm recomending these because you can see very beautiful architecture, the culture/history and Landscapes. @ 1:10 is Mosteiro dos Jerónimos or Jerónimos Monastery or Hieronymites Monastery, thats in Lisbon near Torre de Belém (from where the Conquistadores used to depart). . Portuguese Dishs-Oh boy,our cuisine and wines are something really special! We have Thousands of different Cod Dish´s ,the top 3 are Bacalhau á Brás and Bacalhau com Natas (Cod with Cream). One of the most famous meat dish´s is the Bitoque, its a steak served with an fryed egg on top(egg riding the steak like we use to say),served with french fries, rice and salad. Deserts,we have a ton of conventuary pastery like the Pastéis de Belém(when Hank from Breacking Bad came to visit Portugal he couldnt live the Pastéis de Balém store and he had to buy a huge box to take with him to the US ). Molotof, this is just made from eggs and lots of sugar. Google them ;) Sites to see,the entire countrie is full of wonderfull places like Sintra(where is located the Masonic Well that is features in the Curse of Oak Island season 9 ep 23 to 26 ,Gerês,Portinho da Arrábida... We have amazing castles, palaces, convenants ,medieval art and arquitechture. @4:24 the Convenant of Christ in Tomar, that was the main scape hidding place of the Templars(oh yeah Portugal has a huge history linked with Templars). @4:29 yes thats what we saw on the beggining of the video from other perspective! About the flag,Red is the Blood that was spilled in Battles,Green means the hope, the yellow sphere (Armillary Sphere) it simbolizes the world and the new places and people portuguese conquistadores found. The five blue shields represent the Five Moorish kings thats were deffeated by D. Afonso Henriques in the Ourique Battle. Each shield have 5 white dots, those dots represent the Five Wounds of Christ. The 7 castles simbolize the 7 fortified zones D Afonso Heriques re-conquered back from the Moorish, those 7 fortified zones was what we call today of Algarve. All of this applied on the Portuguese shield and the blue shields doing our old (that used to be red and white, and later the Templars made one of the stems longer when their order was changed into the Knights of the Order of Christ) Cross. 10:11 those old neighborhoods now are filled with young people and lots of foreigners that decide to stay!At night those streets are filled with people drinking and having a good time like its 4 of July (every single night),check "Bairro Alto á noite" or "Festas de Lisboa". One fact that has to be mentioned is our 25 de Abril of 1974 and all the history behind it! Our weather is pretty amazing some places North are colder and get negative temperatures, but the weather is pretty balanced,3 months of Summer,3 of Fall,3 of Winter 3 of Spring. You should check the old Rally of Portugal in Sintra, you gonna love it!!!! Check our old UMM 4x4 very used by our Military Forces We have some of the biggest Giant Waves to surf,in Nazaré. Love your channels and your videos.Really glad you made this one ;) Any time you and Mrs IWorker wanna spend some vacation in Portugal you are more then welcome.
The food you must try: Bacalhau a Lagareiro (it's essential cod fish, cooked in a lot of Olive Oil, onions and garlic. Sometimes peppers. There are also many dishes, that you know, that are very good... for me, the best soup, shown in the video is Caldo Verde. Also, the pastry is something else. And if you curious about tasting Portuguese food, search where you live, there is probably a Portuguese restaurant in every major city (especially in the New England area of USA). ;)
I've never been to Portugal. But out of all the European destinations a could choose, Portugal is on the top.
I´d say the entire Iberian peninsula is pretty much on the top of my list... Got a small glimps of that on a trip to Mallorca. We stayed as far from the tourist hotspots as we could and it was just a good time.
I've been all over Portugal and Spain, it's quite neat.

Im Brazilian living in Portugal, and this is an amazing country. You should come and visit.
I consider Brazilians to be equal, as Portuguese people we have a lot in common.
o@Denspurtaer o brasileiro, odeia com muita facilidade, quando há dinheiro em causa...

Mas nós conhecemos Espanha, estudamos história
hello mate, welcome to our country, and out of curiosity that you haven't visited us yet, we refer to the spanish people of galicia, and to those who live close to us, as, "our brothers" because we both descend from the kingdom from león and castile... a portuguese hug....
And the 7 castles in the flag are considered a symbol of the Portuguese victories over their Moorish enemies, under Afonso III, who supposedly captured seven enemy fortresses in the course of his conquest of the Algarve, concluded in 1249
Yep, correct. And the red part is bigger than the green, because more blood was spilled than the land conquered
Yes
Also, the portuguese government ordered some portuguese flags, to be hung outside the European Parliament in Brussels, but the flags were made in China and had chinese Pagodas instead of european castles, in our "esfera armilar" at the center of the flag.
The chinese fake flag was only noticed after it was hoisted in Brussels. A portuguese diplomat went running outside ordering the chinese fake portuguese flag to be removed from outside the EU parliament.
Funny stuff!

I have been to Portugal at least 10 times, I love it, I love the food , I love the people, I love the weather, and lots of people speak English .
Glad you liked ofrece country
About Canada, here´s a fun fact: Ancient portuguese maps have the word CANADA on it, but in earlier explorer times (1480...), that means »Cá Nada« or in english »Here Nothing«. They saw lots of land and lack of people to trade goods. That`s the origin of the name 🙂
Hmmm....

The guy said: "while it may not be the oldest country in Europe"
But he's wrong, Portugal literally IS the oldest country in Europe, Lisbon is literally over 400 years older than Rome

Starting with the details and ending with the colors:
- Armillary sphere: was never the symbol of Portugal or discoveries, it was the symbol of Brazil and first appeared on the new flag of the Kingdom of Portugal, Brazil and the Algarves during the Napoleonic war when the Kingdom of Portugal had to be transfer to Brazil.
Now for the colour of the flag:
- Green and red where merely the colours of the Portuguese Republican Party and of the two revolts: January 31st 1891, Oporto; and October 5th 1910, the day of _"Implantação da República"._ It was only afterwards that the meaning was retconned to have a more patriotic meaning and less a party (Portuguese Republican Party) ownership.
Stay away, this place is not for us Americans!!! haha .... Also, check out the Azores...it's a natural beauty.

in our flag green means hope, and red means all the blood we shed to exist, the castels means the king was king in five continents, the sphere was our naval traditions..
Jeronimos Monastery is the first building found in Belem.
I've only been to Lisbon and it's very beautiful with lots of hills, kind of like San Francisco of Europe. FYI, in restaurants, if the server asks if you want bread with your meal, it is not complimentary.
On the other hand you arent FORCED to tip 20% 😁
@@guido69x That is true but so far, Portugal seems to be the only European country that does this.
@@Americaninparis2012 we tip if the service is good, which generally is, but it's not an obligation. If the cost is 13€ we pay 15€, as an example, just round up.
A proper “ Cozido á Portuguesa” and you’ll be eating for days! And loving every second of it!🤤
Fun fact: in Terceira (an island in the azores) you can go inside a volcano, it's called "Algar do Carvão".
The video didn't say a lot about the azores and madeira islands but you should check them out, trust me, you will not be disappointed
Yay!! My country! :D Nice vid, you should visit the great beaches! I wish the original video was a bit slower pace :)
Edit to answer your question:
Weather is fairly moderate, near the coast line it's usually between 5 or 10C (40/50F) during winter up to temps around 30/36C (86/96F) during the peak of summer.
Portugal very cold in the winter and very warm in summer 😄
*"How did someone build this?"* 1:42
I think they stacked stones from the bottom to the top. Doing it the other way around would make things really complicated.
Portugal and England have been allies for donkey's years. Have a current F1 race at Portimao, but i preferred when it was held at Estoril, if you get the chance watch the 1990 F1 Grand Prix Mansell Prost Senna and Berger great race.
Im from Portugal bro Portugal is One of the country with the biggest history
one little fact about the portuguese flag is that every single detail has a meaning like the red part meaning all the people that died and their courage during wars and the green meaning hope the armillary sphere meaning the world portugues navigators discovered...etc.
If ever thinking of traveling to Portugal, must visit Coimbra, Porto, Braga, and Guimarães. The food is great like bacalhau, francesinha, chanfana, leitão or carne de porco alentejana.
If you like beaches, Nazaré, Algarve, Figueira da foz, and of course Madeira. We welcome you all with a great big smile and hospitality😊
Portugal has many historic villages, they even appear in American movies
I am portuguese but was born and lived all my life in Massachusetts. My parents were born in Azores which are islands that is portuguese people if you didn't know. And yes, our food is delicious.
My country mate, from Lisbon, but I live at France... Godspeed Ian n family 👪
13:20 You're right. Warm country.
The first minute is a big Monestary Jerónimos. Ask all you want Portugal have more than meats the eye...
You should definitely come and visit #Portugal… you’ll be amazed on how ao many wonders can be fitted in such a small country, and then the food - you’ll be amazed.
Hi , finally Portugal is known around the world, thank you for the video, I'm Portuguese and I'm glad you did a great video for your followers, have a nice day
Gustavo
Woow a video about portugal ? thats unxpected !! I'm from coimbra and have been seen your videos about motorsports and the unimog
dude, you should try chanfana (old goat stu kind of i guess) it´s amaaaazing! :) but hey if there is something portugal has to offer is food... theres a lot and i mean a looot of dishes...
2:35 Those are all great dishes. As a portuguese i would suggest something more intense and regional to where i live: Arroz de Lampreia. It is not for everyone but for me (when well done) is by far the best thing my mouth and brain can taste!
Thank u for your work!Come to boom Festival!Portugal!
Never expected to see a video about my country.
Thank you!
Only begun watching the video, the guy saying the food names is hilarious 🤣
Potugal got temp. from - 10º C to +45ºC. And snow every year (winter)!
What I use to say to people coming from abroad to here, you should get a diet before visiting because the food is very good and addicting in a good way. Now that the video mentions, can't wait to make a dish of bacalhau à Brás (codfish with scrambled eggs and onion). Cheers 🇵🇹🍜
...fried potatos and olives! ; )
@@lino222 exactly 😁 literally forgot that, thank you for noticing
❤ Very nice indeed. We do have snow in Estrela mountain and up to north.
All north has temperatures bellow zero in winter.
You should try 'pasteis de nata' from Belém and the over 300 ways of cooking cod.
I'm portuguese and i am so happy because many americans trying meet my language. We have many monuments, partys, beachs, food etc of north at suth of country. The people that have possibility to travel to Portugal of course will going love Portugal.
I'm portuguese didn't expect to see this in your channel, and where i live, madeira island, you should watch some videos and about our rallies....wrc vodafone Portugal, former 'erc' rally vinho Madeira and former erc sata rally Açores ....where i live we only have tarmac rallies and our main event ( rali vinho Madeira) used to be in the erc ( european rally championship) for more than 20 years, there are a lot of videos you could take a look...
Hey Ian I think you'd find the country of Sealand very interesting although you e probably never heard of it
I think trekking across Sealand would be awesome. So much to see and photograph.
I've been to Luxemburg, Switzerland, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Spain, France, Portugal (São Miguel - Azores; Madeira + Porto Santo - Madeira; Lisboa, Porto, Coimbra, Leiria, Albufeira....)
Portugal is beautiful and Madeira island has won the best island destination award.
So hungry now.
It does snow in the mountains up north of portugal around the Braga area
In the portugal flag the red means the blood of the ones that were killed in the battles and the green means hope.
One of our royal princes of old, D. Pedro, dug up his dead mistress (the love of his life, 3 children born) and made the whole court pay homage to her and kiss her hand when he became king, because his father had her killed. He ripped the hearts (literally) of her assassins thus being called The Cruel.
Portuguese cuisine is divine, from the most refined to the most popular, all good, and the sweets are a show, continent and islands a must visit for sure.
I'm portuguese. You are right about the weather, except in one thing... we have snow. In the upskits of Serra da Estrela in the winter and sometimes, in the winter also, on the northeast part of the country. If you want portuguese food try Cozido à portuguesa.
I'm Portuguese and Proud 🤘🥳 Força Portugal 🤙 Greats from the other side of the Atlantic brother 😁
Yes, underrated by Portuguese ppl themselves believe me.....
Yes, it snows in Portugal. (Serra da Estrela) and (Serra do Gerês) in the north of the country but the biggest mountain in Portugal counting the islands is the Azores (Island of Pico) the name of the mountain is Pico.
and the climate is hot in summer and very cold in winter (for us, because we are not used to temperatures below -0 degrees like in America)🇺🇸#I LOVE AMERICA 😆
I'm from Portugal 🇵🇹🇵🇹😄
The first "big building" is the "Convento de MAFRA" and the 2nd is the "Palácio dos Jerónimos" in LISBON
Portugal are nice, though i have just visited Lissabon for a few weeks while we was in dock at the lisnave shipyard ( 1991 i think it was )
There was a bar called Copehnagen bar as i recall, a few 100 M from the main gate to the shipyard.
Red means the blood of our heroes, green means hope. The arms coat is full of references.
I think you can see the sights better if you react to ryan shirley (25 best places to visit in Portugal) or Dave in Portugal (Portugal: top 12 places to visit 2024) I'm recomending these because you can see very beautiful architecture, the culture/history and Landscapes.
Hugs from Vila do Conde, Portugal🇵🇹 and thank you for the time you took to react to the video🤗
Google them ;)
Sites to see,the entire countrie is full of wonderfull places like Sintra(where is located the Masonic Well that is features in the Curse of Oak Island season 9 ep 23 to 26 ,Gerês,Portinho da Arrábida...
Check our old UMM 4x4 very used by our Military Forces
We have some of the biggest Giant Waves to surf,in Nazaré.
Love your channels and your videos.Really glad you made this one ;)
Any time you and Mrs IWorker wanna spend some vacation in Portugal you are more then welcome.
And if you curious about tasting Portuguese food, search where you live, there is probably a Portuguese restaurant in every major city (especially in the New England area of USA). ;)
you have to try "Sopa da Pedra"; "Francesinha" and grilled sardinhes in June/July/Agost
