You're a very good teacher. I just retired from teaching band for 31 years, and I like the fact that you present the info in a "there is more than one way to skin a cat" format, while still showing the advantages and drawbacks to each. Well done! I am just starting the bass and I am very daunted about this instrument. I wish I'd begun when I was younger!
I’m just starting out and just cannot figure out the right wrist without bending it. It’s just very awkward. I see how your arm lays while fingerpicking but I’m not able to replicate that for some reason, i’m playing around with strap height but I’ve barely started & my right arm is already killing me.
Great lesson! I've played for years but now am getting much more serious and starting to record and I've noticed that I'm really annoyed by a click I was hearing in my right hand attack so I watched this video. I do the rest stroke naturally and the click or thud is my striking finger coming to rest on the string below. This video has taught me that I'm playing much too hard (years of having underpowered equipment and no training) and I think you didn't mention it but I think you're muting the string you come to rest on with a different finger. Is that accurate?

What about using your thumb and first two fingers?
You're a cool human!
I manly play with straight wrist, but I still feel pain after a while.. what's wrong?
Why not show the floating thumb technique?
Is raking an “obligation” to play faster?
