Hey! I may have some insight for you regarding the "desync bug" issue as you call it at 23:15. The one where enemy shots aren't getting shot from directly underneath the enemy, but in front of it! Short answer: Interpolation of movement. Longer answer: The client renders a lot more frames per second than the server updates your client of the enemy position. In an ideal world, you'd want the client to receive the REAL enemy location for every frame it renders. But that's not how games work in real life, as that implementation would be very demanding and no games I know of do this. To avoid having the client instantly "teleport" the enemy to the newest received location, some interpolation needs to be applied on moving entities, from the last known position, to the newly received position from the server; usually this is done using a linear function between the two positions. So for each frame, it gets visually closer to the real position. After the enemy is finally done interpolating, a new real position gets received, and the process starts over. This means that the enemy's real location (the location the shots are coming from in RotMG) is often further ahead than the enemy you see during position interpolation. This becomes really clear when the enemy moves quickly. Regarding the issue of being more visible on Exalt than Flash: A larger proportion of frames have to be interpolated on Exalt compared to Flash, because the FPS was hard capped in Flash. Furthermore, the server tick rate is either the same, or even a bit lower than it used to be. The easiest solution for Deca to solve this issue, is to simply increase the amount of ticks per second that operate between the client and server. This would result in the client receiving the REAL location of the enemy faster, the higher the ticks per second. Though this requires more capable servers. TLDR: Client makes enemy movement smooth at the cost of delay and visual inaccuracy. Better servers could help with an increased tick rate per second (TPS).
I'm glad someone other than ROTMG is trying to make the permadeath bullet hell genre work, especially since a bit of competition could go a long way for realm. That being said, I'm a bit disappointed there's still mechanics such as key popping, maxing, etc in Darza's. Feels like they didn't dare stray too far away from the realm formula, which is a shame since it could've been interesting to see what realm could be without those aforementioned mechanics. Same thing with classes in general, just a mild spin on what realm already does. Say, what if we could have 2 accesories instead of just 1? Darza's seems fine, but that's it. Just fine.
i highly doubt this type of game will ever become any sort of mainstream, way too many struggle with the permadeath way too much. I've tried to get so many people into both realm and darza but as soon as they lose a stronger character they tend to quit. it just doesn't have the mass appeal, as much as i love the recipe. . to be fair the graphics don't help, I adore the darza pixelart but a lot of people are admittedly put off by it. darza has been super fun though, really revitalized the genre for me cause I've sorta given up on realm
@@sebchoof That's kinda what I've been waiting for. Hate that I only have this stupid pile of fame that I'm forced to spend to continue progressing to show for my characters
imo this type of game would be a lot better without the perma-death aspect. I think a lot more people are interested in a top down pixel art bullet hell MMO than are interested in perma-death mechanics which generally are pretty unpopular. There is a reason why hacks have always been so popular in rotmg, auto nexus being a big reason why a lot of people choose to use them.
I definitely feel like in a couple months this game will go crazy, but i’m content with realm for the time being, because shatters and HC shatters mean I have things to learn and look forward to
This is definitely the best Darza's Dominion review out there with a lot of fair comparison between two games and in-depth in-game knowledge in both of them. I appreciate your hard work!
The issue of these types of game is the permadeath aspect for mainstream appeal, as many have put it. But for me, it's a lot more fundamental (game design-wise) than that. There is one route of gameplay to progress in these games and only one goal; gaining stats and acquiring powerful gear via murking harder bosses. I know it sounds lame, but the classic MMO tropes of having some sort of "normal" ways to play, like fishing, mining, lumbering, cooking, foraging, and whatever-else really need to exist to make the world feel alive. Look at BDO, Runescape, or even the Monster Hunter series. With the latter, so much of the game is hunting huge fucking monsters for items to craft equips and usually involves hella grinding. Sounds just like Realm. But even then, sprinkled in are the missions where you just gather supplies, explore the world, track down monsters quietly and do other seemingly mundane quests which in reality help to set the pace of the experience. Full 100% juicing gaming is tiring and gets repetitive after a while. Imagine fishing for select fishes, and there being an extremely in-depth which accounts for time of day (in-game day cycle?), location, type of bait, type of equipment, type of rod, current weather (weather cycle too?) and so on for you to optimize gameplay. Many people would put so much effort into this whole other avenue of gameplay, which brings in players who would've dropped the game months ago without it. Fishes could be cooked into recipe which give like 30m-60m buffs, or maybe even converted to permanent stat boosters somehow (alternate Pot buffs?). I'm a guy who just loves the game for the bullet hell of it. I'll run solo O3's and whatnot just for the fun of it rather than loot. These systems wouldn't really attract me much anyway as compared to others. But even then, imagine running some chains for 2 hours, and coming back to the Pet Yard/Vault/Or other new area, and tending to the crops, mining the new resources that spawned and trading around the NPC's before chaining again. The small things help the world of an MMO feel worth to sinking your time in. After all, these games are all just ways for us to get invested.
MyMomBeatU here, I feel like Darza's biggest weapons right now are extremely motivated co-leads and the existence of realm and it's evident flaws. For now Darza gets boring after like 10 hours of gameplay, although I hope we get some sweaty-palm endgame dodging like realm at some point and I may completely transition to Darza's
Just wanted to say I appreciated the content, I got into ROTMG because of people like you and I will be getting into DD because of you! Will download tonight.
It looks really fucking cool, but ngl, the fact that they didn't even try to pave out their own art direction is a huge flaw to me. yes, I'm aware Realm began off premade Oryx assets. But it just looks like a clone game piggybacking off of Realm's influence. I'd only ever play it solely bc I'd like to enjoy more ROTMG content, and despite all gameplay improvements lurking in there, that overarching idea kinda kills it for me. (nevertheless, good yt content)
Everyone copies off of each other. This is also true in the gaming industry. I'm actually surprised it took this long for a rotmg clone to come out but it has and I will definitely try it out.
with the HUD I still rather the rotmg hud mainly because of nostalgia but also, it is much simpler for example your storage is under your items where in darza it is on the left and right, I also prefer the health/mana/fame in rotmg HUD because they are in the same area and easy to look at
I feel like games like this need some form of more tangible permanent progression that you can feel sooner. Sure, you get better over time, and I personally think it feels really rewarding to be able to run through something trivially that used to feel like a mountain to tackle. However, I think that it's far too punishing for most players given the amount of grinding you need to do to start playing a character, let alone to try to learn late game dungeons for exalts in rotmg.
Imagine being a muilty million dollar company with hundreds of employees and your getting out classed in your own profession by five ppl who played your game
I'm a new ROTMG player that is actually enjoying it a lot. I'd never heard of Darza's before seeing this video but I'll give it a go as well and see if I end up liking it better.
This looks very promising! And I’m very curious on how Deca are going to react to a decreasing player base, maybe they actually try to not be so greedy
Been playing rotmg for over a decade Deca wasn't the start of the Greed in ROTMG, and they sure a shit wont be the end of it lol. unfortunately you can see the types of content they make/rework is all endgame. They don't care about bringing in new blood so much, as long as they're bleeding the whales for all they can. I would love to see an overhaul on NPE, a better tutorial that takes you through the many systems the game has to offer instead of basically "here's the controls, go wild". A dungeon finder so you don't HAVE to use discord, although obviously you'd still find better groups that way, it wouldn't be essential to doing tougher content. A "grand exchange" or equivalent so you don't have to PM people on their realmeye offers that might not even be available. Why are we still using a craigslist's type service over 10 years later?
I feel like rotmg has done its porpouse on me, like i feel i finished every goal i wanted to do in the game that just feels satisfying to leave it with my achievments like having certain pet skin, having certain items, completing every dungeon etc and so i was called to stop playing it and started a new begginning, which is darza, feels so refreshing and inspiring to start over in the best of ways in a game i can understand yet to feel like braand new on its aspects, plus the way this guys are paying effort on the game is just...Very outstanding
i really enjoyed this video i feel like it was very well made. I appreciate you criticizing both games and not really showing any bias (if you even have one). i want to try darzas but with the amount of time and money i have put into realm i feel like i’m going to wait until it’s a little more fleshed out first. I truly hope deca watches this and cares. the forging system was really a huge blow to the game in my opinion and there are some small changes including removing the forging altogether that would be a tremendous boost to the game. but with the way that things are going, they’re giving us more weapon types or subclasses or something dumb instead of addressing real core problems. just really disappointing for a long time player
Seb this video was excellent! I will say I started RoTMG after deca took over and exalt was released and I fell in love with it. How ever when my friend told me about Darza I was very excited, after playing darza now for close to 100 hours I WISH I had gotten the chance to play old school realm. Darza's speed and power creep is amazing when you finally get a 8/8 and have semi decent gear you feel so powerful and the game becomes a whole new game on its own. I am very excited to see where Darza goes.
It was the best back in the day you had to actually experience the game just as it came no skips with discord and easy access to soulbound. It was the worst when u were rushing an abyss and net jitter into a lava lake with brutes.
My loyalty will continue to stick with Realm. However, a lot of things from Darza are really cool. Some bosses and mobs have really interesting attacks and designs. The dominion in particular is aesthetic and diverse, matching my idea for a realm rework or an elder realm. I hope that tons of people DO migrate to Darza's so that the competitive pressure pushes Realm developers to improve their game
@@calebjohnson96 I mean, we just love the game mechanic and have been growing up with it. Some have played this game for months, years and we spend so much time on our progression. I don't really wish to leave this community since its just too much fun with the people. Though I do say Darza has some big potential, lets hope the developers don't mess it up.
Rotmg: more colorful. more loot. Darza: way more optimized. Tbh I will still wait 10 hours for the damn logging screen to play Rotmg over Darza. I'm sorry, it just looks way better to me.
I disagree. My potato PC runs rotmg like a charm and darza has terrible input lag unless I scale resolution way down. They both are about as optimized as a toaster in a bathtub.
I didn't even know there was an Australian server. I only have a choice of 2 US servers and a European server (I think?...it's just those 3 iirc...which I probably dont). I've only just started to play it. I'm really enjoying it as it takes me back to that fun sorta chaos that I enjoyed playing Commodore 64 and Amiga 500 and Amiga 1200 games in the mid 80s to mid 90s....that was a great era to be a young kid and a great era for gaming...having the home computers catching up to the quality of the games you had to pay for in the arcade was quite something. It would be hard for a modern kid to wrap their heads around....scrounging for coins and pestering parents for money to hit the local video arcade...dying really did cost you real money (which was extremely limited to a 10yr old)....so suddenly being able to play games of the same quality and calibre as you found in the arcade was just utterly amazing....home computers caught up quick...you didn't have the awful ersatz versions of arcade games Luke we did in the early 80s....late 80s and onwards really saw a massive leap forward in game quality...to the point where you'd actually rather stay home and just play on your console or home computer rather than spending money at the arcade. Then, in the mod 90s...all of a sudden, you could hook up a bunch of PCs and all play Quake together over a LAN....so LAN parties became a thing....that was pretty wild and mind boggling awesome. It's just impossible to describe it to someone today...it was a totally new thing. Today mmorpg is totally normal and taken for granted....nothing will compare to the feeling of fun that we got after lugging multiple PCs to one friends house, setting them all up and somehow, magically, getting them all to talk together...then be able to all jump into the same game....itvwas all pretty cool. I'm glad I got to experience it....the 90s was a truly spectacular decade for everything....pop culture...music...technology....the cold war ended....a new millennium was dawning with the 21st century intended to be the century that everything leapt forward. But that all went to shit with 9/11 .... so now...20 years later. Hardly anything has changed...oh there's smart phones and a modern version of social media (both of which seem to be a net negative to humanity), the internet has been gagged and co-opted by massive multi national corporations.... massive culture wars. I feel sorry for today's youth and I'm glad I was lucky enough to have my youth in such an awesome decade. Dunno what all that has to do with Darzas dominion lol....I suppose this game reminds me of a simpler and more fun time....and the developers sure seem to be channeling the same sort of attitude and processes that tiny game developers did in the 80s/90s...which has definitely bled through into the game itself and its fun simplicity.
Itll have the same problem as rotmg, most of the potential players will never be able to enjoy the good gear because the hard dungeons dont exactly let you practise or figure out attack patterns without doing tons of research, just not fun to see other players with ut and st items when you can only ever get up to t9's (on darza) and t11-t12's (on rotmg) so the playerbase will be just like rotmg, a select few players, both games need boss and enemy scaling too, sucks you have to join a discord or have a bunch of friends just to good some of the good gear, you can solo dungeons WITH the good gear sure, but how do you get that as a solo player? Especially when someone that takes 0 damage from most mobs drags them into the boss arena or on top of you, pretty much intentionally killing your character
i play realm for like 8 years, and id use to love the old realm (before exalt). the exalt one is so heavy and fancy, i dont know, i just used to like the simple realm. i like the new content in realm, but i miss the simplicity of the old realm. if it only could keep everything it graphically was, and just adding the content, it would be nice. my opinion tho.
I played darza before i played realm and i much prefer realm, while i wholeheartedly agree on issues like the shit client and discord meta where i can never seem to get in to o3's unless im flexing my set to every raid leader in NA trying to get in, the strong lack of content and drops with darza feels debilitating. It's like the more I play the less i can seem to progress, and in realm for me at the moment it seems like every time i play i have a new goal in mind thats actually obtainable. With darza i just felt hard capped after a certain time and after 30 hours playtime i havent gotten a single white at all, even in the beta before steam release. At the moment it just feels like a very unfinished project but im glad it could get me in to realm to enjoy the overwhelming abundance of content there while darza works on becoming the successor i know it can be.
you can right-click someone to teleport, at least I can on my PC. can't right-click to trade though, and it's unfortunate that I have my ability bound to right-click, cause I use mana every time I teleport.
ive gotta try it out, i remember the mobile version and that was frankly terrible but this looks crazy, also hope beneath the nexus gets some sort of open testing soon
the only thing i wish darza did was add something that changes the way you play it, right now it just feels like a better fleshed out version (talking about the client issues) of rotmg with more love from the devs for the game and players. like for example the rune tree in beneath the nexus, it is still an mmorpg bullethell but the way you play it is entirely different. im not saying they should copy that but just making an example. this way they are distinguishing themselves as a "rotmg copy" i dont knowif that made sense, english isnt my first language.
The lag,dc-ing and the invisible enemies make me wanna quit fhe game. I was trying to learn Lost Halls solo and it was going ok. Until some enemy suddenly decided to teleport onto me. I also had a lot of moments where i try to nexus and it just doesnt work. I even pressed it 2-1 seconds before the shots were gonna hit me but it still didnt work. I just get frustrated because i am trying to learn the endgame dungeons but if i wont be allowed to nexus and retry i wont comeback again after spending hours of farming just to die again because of lag or some other issue with the servers/client.
So, I've played ROTMG for 2 months like a year ago, and decided to quit early since DECA was obviously going for a shitty route. Gave all of my stuff (obligatory flex for giving away a Arbiter's Wrath for free lol) and basically wiped all my characters and pets when I saw your video talking about darza and BTN. got to say about darza that, as somebody who doesn't have that much time playing ROTMG really lacking ( at least for the moment), feels like is marketed towards really OG players. Not saying the game is bad. I know I'll eventually get sucked again and play it a lot. Best of wishes to the darza team!
darza's hud might be prettier looking, but Rotmg's layout is way better in terms of usability, as it's easier to see everything in a glance due to the separation. (I'm not defending rotmg ó)
im a top darza player, named poopstains. now i love darza. but no content to keep grinding and IRRITATING whitebag droprates. however, they did do AN AMAZING JOB on this client. it feels light years ahead of deca with rotmg. i even sent deca a support ticket asking them how a small team did what they couldnt.
yo how tf is your fps capped in rotmg? mine is not capped at all. Im using an amd rx 5700 non xt as my gpu and a ryzen 5 5600g as my cpu with 32gb of 3600mhz ram.
The fact that Darzas loading times are faster and and less laggy Is just sad and shows deca is failing the community and the game, especially with all the capital the make from the game like come on talk about greed and carelessness
Hey Sebchoof, you are speaking out of my soul every argument and point u made was factually correct and u weren't biased at all. And the sentence that u can imagine to give the game a 9/10 in about 3 months hit hard because rn the game is amazing compared to rotmg but not amazing compared to other games ^^ (btw. I have over 1k hours in realm and about 100 hours in Darza). Great Video Enjoyed it from beginning to end and keep up the great work and daily streaming. much love
additional comment, practically all the hp scaling is perfect, EXCEPT DARZA HIMSELF, darza seems to scale way too hard and when alot of people leave, the kill ends up dragging along like heck LOL. and this is coming from someone with 4/4 gear, +14 stat pets instead of 10, since they are from the old days, ETC. so my chars are literately the strongest and cant even be achieved as of today yet. the lack of content is rough kuz darza is honestly great.... it BLOWS rotmg out of the water they just need a competetive amount of content. also GLORY (fame in rotmg) is kiinda hard to grind now compared to before, and it was hard before lol
Hey! Thank you very much for this extremely detailed video, I'm somebody who has been playing realm awhile now and heard of darza's before but wasn't really sure what there was to offer. This was genuinely extremely helpful and I just installed the game looking forward to checking it out, so thank you very much :D
As a boi with an optometry degree, I wouldn't worry about the colour blind people not being able to see shots lmao, so long as they're light and dark it'll be fine. Most common issues are red-green. Big ty for dunking on DECA publically, but also thanks for not dunking so hard where they give up. I do have genuine moral questions about their unmet promises for unity, and about where the money folk donated went, but so long as there's competition it's always good for us as consumers. High hopes for Darzas, so cheers for covering
Frameskips happen when people try to play on a 13 year old pc and think its "up to date" i have literally never not once had a frame skip in rotmg. also darza is just so much easier thats the biggest issue there is 0 difficulty in that game all three of my characters are the first three i have ever made in the game and all of them are 8/8
oh shit, tomorrow on phone? I love rotmg, and I dont think I would ever switch to darza. But since there is no Realm on mobile, I am down to play darza on the go on my phone.
I love this game so much despite it being so early on. I hope they don’t add endgame dungeons that outweigh the value of fame trains, cause realm doesn’t have fame trains anymore, and I kinda enjoy just finding a path, calling “Starting a train” and farming, even if it’s repetitive. Or saying “call train”. If they add a “lost halls” equivalent to the game that kills trains, I’ll be sad.
I mean trains are for more than just fame mostly they're useful to level up fast imo. I don't expect as much solidarity from stronger players if there are better ways to get fame, but i'm not sure that would remove fame trains entirely
Yeah I don't know. Everytime I logged into Darva, I just get the feeling of ... Why play this when theres already a game slightly better graphic/content/items/population I just feel like if I'm gonna play a knock off of X game, why not play the real. Thats just my opinion though, and I really hope the devs at Darza could figure out unique content for the game. I really dislike the monetization of realm, the difficulty of endgame content in regards to skill/finding a group. Even the fact that one of the best ways to play the game is by standing in trade channel waiting for people to purchase key's to pop lol ......otherwise if you go into a realm its a real toss up if your going to be doing anything other then low-mid tier dungeons Even endgame balances dont seem right to me. Something that somewhat enjoyable in realm, as a noob, is playing for feed power, forging some gears to sell,
damn, i've never had any big performance issues in rotmg (granted i havent done like shatters or o3) but i cant play darza due to a constant low framerate
I enjoy the review but why so much hate for rotmg? It's in the best state it's ever been in? The game is only going up and up. Great updates one after another and yes they do come out slow but they're great updates. Realm has issues sure, but it isnt nostalgia keeping me playing the game, its the great endgame dungeons and content. The issues we have now in realm have always been here since the game gained popularity ie ( cheating, unfair deaths, and a poor customer support). I understand if those are reasons you don't want to recommend it to a friend but to state those reasons as to why deca games is bad doesnt make sense. They have shown to be working on those and trying to improve the game, much more than prior companies. And yes we should hold deca games to a higher level and criticize them but it always seems like people do it over the top just because they enjoy complaining.
As someone who's been playing the game for over a decade I didn't feel like he was hating, more so pointing out what's already been pointed out before. Probably makes him more passionate about the subject since there's been no change to it. Yes the updates are fun and engaging for the people that are already in the lategame, but new players? Where has there been an update to tutorials or low level content? Basically none from the last time I played. How long have pets been in the game? They're still not part of the tutorial! That's just one of many systems you need a wiki or friends to explain to you. ROTMG is essentially gatekeeping itself by just teaching you the controls then shoving you into the game which is just a unoptimized microtransaction store before you hop into a portal to actually play the game, which the tutorial has barley explained to you. Not to mention all the interface/connection issues that have been with the game since its birth. After all those microtransactions, and a unity kickstarter essentially, that we would have better servers. But meh they're basically the same as they've always been. Long connection times, bad ticks that lead to dying far away from the projectile that supposedly killed you. No support from Deca for anything that doesn't involve money. Long time players don't quit because the game got repetitive in the manner of gameplay. They wouldn't have made it to the lategame, and quit long ago. Obviously they did enjoy the bullet hell gameplay. They're sick of using subpar servers and systems that always seem to be a hinderance to actually playing the game the way they would like to, over, and over. Until the flow of the game feels more streamlined it will always be this clunky mess that requires discord, realmeye, and more to even feel kind of coherent.
@@BlackAxe101 A lot of their updates are focused on optimizing gameplay or adding/reworking early-middle game dungeons or additional sound tracks. Not to mention the majority of realm's revenue comes from late-game players (players that frequently run exaltation dungeons). That's why there's more emphasis on things like shatters rework or the addition of a end game item/ blueprint. Also they just recently reworked the tutorial. Not sure if pets are on there, but they have the farmer person in the pet yard that explains it. I remember my 11 y/o self understanding how to use pets strictly based off that farmer guy. Now I may be coming from a privileged point of view, but I have a 5-6 y/o Labtop that cost me about 1k back then. If you were to buy it brand new today it would prob cost around 600. I also have about 100 mb/s internet. Not considered fast but certainly not slow. That being said, I rarely have issues playing realm. I probably dc once every 20-30 hours of gameplay. That's amazing. Not to mention they've really cut down on the time it takes the load into the game. Also I've seen the videos of people dying from complete BS, but I have a lot of hours on realm and everyone that I've played with (been in many top 5 guilds) have not had that happen to them. This goes for pre-unity as well. But certainly they need to work on fixing that issue even tho it is clearly rare and most realm players dont experience it. Or at least have better customer service. I agree with the discord thing. Realm feels dead without discord. Hardly any one plays in the realms. This is an issue that needs to be fixed. A huge update to the realm and how events spawn could maybe change this. I have no idea and I'm sure the devs are equally as lost on how to fix this issue. It's a hard issue especially since a lot of their revenue comes from keys. Wikis are a good thing for a game. You shouldn't hate on realmeye. Its just there to inform players on potential drops and other in-game things. Literally every single game I've played seriously I've used an online guide/wiki. Unless I wanted an extra challenge/ wanted to go in blind as a fun experience. That being said you shouldn't need a wiki to play a game certainly. Maybe I have a bias, as I've played the game for a long time, but I don't feel like the game is unplayable without realmeye. Seems pretty straight forward. Go in realms/dungeons kill bosses, dodge shots, get loot, and get exaltations (95% of the game right there). Certainly less barrier to entry compared to other games like LOL, Smite, or Dota but more than COD or CSGO. It's genre based and they can't really fix that.
@@perrytimmerman7771 Yea "Whales" are Rotmg's bread n butter. I knew a whale (Gigglemesh) that had good internet, baller computer, and still had connection issues. Probably more like once a play session at least(play sesh being 4+ hours). I wish I could've went a whole day without getting kicked, locked out for "account in use", infinite loading into zone etc. Me and most everyone I played with experienced one or all of the above numerous times. So I think for most ppl its not very amazing, unless you're right by a server or something. The bullshit deaths are very rare tho, I think I only died like that once or twice over my whole 9 years of playing. The connection issues were very real tho, not even getting to try for loot, or play the game at a certain point in time when it just locked you out "account in use". Understanding how to feed your pet and what pets are, is explained. What's not explained is that you NEED magic heal & heal or your wasting your time & resources since there is more ability's it could have, but heals are by far the best. I know they nerfed the heals a long while back, but still even then they were a MUST. Obviously long time players don't need updates to help them learn what they already know , so make better dungeons (Shatters) and ignore the NPE altogether? Haven't played in a couple years so if they did make new tutorial that's nice, but It should have came long ago. I never meant to seem hateful against wikis, certainly didn't say anything in that manner. Simply stating if you don't use one or don't have a buddy to help you, you're probably doing something wrong. Like feeding a pet that doesn't heal lol. Wasting time having to start over on something the game didn't bother to explain FULLY. So right back to my point of Realm teaches you the bare minimum of a system, and without help you're not gonna do well with said system most likely. Which is good for Deca because then you realize all that money you spent on whatever was pointless, and you need to do it again for the "optimal" one this time.
As someone that's played ROTMG since 2011, Darzas is clearly better. I didn't even play it during it's original run (darza) so I'm in theory more biased toward ROTMG. My time playing darzas (70 hours) has far surpassed anything DECA has/will/could bring or change to ROTMG. Realm is stagnating and dying like with kabam.
Most if not all of these issues you have with realm (frame skips, lag etc) I have never had since exalt. Maybe check your hardware, drivers, overclocks etc.
Hey! I may have some insight for you regarding the "desync bug" issue as you call it at 23:15. The one where enemy shots aren't getting shot from directly underneath the enemy, but in front of it! Short answer: Interpolation of movement.
Longer answer:
The client renders a lot more frames per second than the server updates your client of the enemy position.
Regarding the issue of being more visible on Exalt than Flash:
A larger proportion of frames have to be interpolated on Exalt compared to Flash, because the FPS was hard capped in Flash.
TLDR:
Client makes enemy movement smooth at the cost of delay and visual inaccuracy. Better servers could help with an increased tick rate per second (TPS).
Just having 2 competitors for the same genre is great news !
Competition breeds improvements !
Never thought about it like that, good point
behold the realm rework
Just fine.
we plan on reworking large chunks of legacy mechanics we were handed down when we took over the project :)
i highly doubt this type of game will ever become any sort of mainstream, way too many struggle with the permadeath way too much. I've tried to get so many people into both realm and darza but as soon as they lose a stronger character they tend to quit. it just doesn't have the mass appeal, as much as i love the recipe. . to be fair the graphics don't help, I adore the darza pixelart but a lot of people are admittedly put off by it. darza has been super fun though, really revitalized the genre for me cause I've sorta given up on realm
maybe if they add more benefit to dying and implement it more as part of the gameplay loop
Most people I try to get to play the game would prefer if there was a permadeath toggle. So they use autonexus. That wouldn't be fun for me tho
@@nxsus5653 permadeath toggle would ruin it
I definitely feel like in a couple months this game will go crazy, but i’m content with realm for the time being, because shatters and HC shatters mean I have things to learn and look forward to
Oh yeah I still gotta finish a hard mode shatts :P
How is that going? Game crazy or just dead? Genuinely curious haven’t had time to play
@@ivandagiant I've never played darza but I got bored of realm lol- got somewhat used to shatts and getting hardmode runs was such a slog.
This is definitely the best Darza's Dominion review out there with a lot of fair comparison between two games and in-depth in-game knowledge in both of them. I appreciate your hard work!
appreciate ur appreciation!!!!
After all, these games are all just ways for us to get invested.
that actually would be really neat to see
MyMomBeatU here, I feel like Darza's biggest weapons right now are extremely motivated co-leads and the existence of realm and it's evident flaws.

I don’t recommend playing it right now it’s really dead but next update will be big and should make it good :)
@@sebchoof Thank you for the reply! I still plan on trying it... How about beneath the nexus?
Amazing review sebchoof, I agree with all of it. Darza just needs some time for content and it will be amazing
This was an incredibly great review with so many good points
I love your content
with the HUD I still rather the rotmg hud mainly because of nostalgia but also, it is much simpler for example your storage is under your items where in darza it is on the left and right, I also prefer the health/mana/fame in rotmg HUD because they are in the same area and easy to look at
I feel like games like this need some form of more tangible permanent progression that you can feel sooner.
Sure, you get better over time, and I personally think it feels really rewarding to be able to run through something trivially that used to feel like a mountain to tackle. However, I think that it's far too punishing for most players given the amount of grinding you need to do to start playing a character, let alone to try to learn late game dungeons for exalts in rotmg.
yeahh i agree, maybe if they made the exalt system require dying to permanently progress or something it would of helped the game
Looking forward to resprite all legacy content for Darza's Dominion project! :)
Imagine being a muilty million dollar company with hundreds of employees and your getting out classed in your own profession by five ppl who played your game
Bit of an error, Linqx/Typ became co-leads in 2019, not 2021 :)

Juix you should've not abandoned Darza but at least it made way for a masterpiece
I almost kinda wish I could take the money I spent on realm and slowly retake it and give it to Darza, they deserve it more than realm.
I'm a new ROTMG player that is actually enjoying it a lot. I'd never heard of Darza's before seeing this video but I'll give it a go as well and see if I end up liking it better.
what’d you end up thinking?
Oh here we goooooo

I feel like rotmg has done its porpouse on me, like i feel i finished every goal i wanted to do in the game that just feels satisfying to leave it with my achievments like having certain pet skin, having certain items, completing every dungeon etc and so i was called to stop playing it and started a new begginning, which is darza, feels so refreshing and inspiring to start over in the best of ways in a game i can understand yet to feel like braand new on its aspects, plus the way this guys are paying effort on the game is just...Very outstanding
Yep. Moving to Darza.
i really enjoyed this video i feel like it was very well made. I appreciate you criticizing both games and not really showing any bias (if you even have one). i want to try darzas but with the amount of time and money i have put into realm i feel like i’m going to wait until it’s a little more fleshed out first.
I truly hope deca watches this and cares. the forging system was really a huge blow to the game in my opinion and there are some small changes including removing the forging altogether that would be a tremendous boost to the game. but with the way that things are going, they’re giving us more weapon types or subclasses or something dumb instead of addressing real core problems. just really disappointing for a long time player
what's wrong with forging?
Am I mistaken, or is there Distance music in this video?
My loyalty will continue to stick with Realm. However, a lot of things from Darza are really cool. Some bosses and mobs have really interesting attacks and designs. The dominion in particular is aesthetic and diverse, matching my idea for a realm rework or an elder realm. I hope that tons of people DO migrate to Darza's so that the competitive pressure pushes Realm developers to improve their game
Deca doesn't deserve your loyalty man, ik it's hard when you've spent tons of money probably but they're literally abusing their players.
@@calebjohnson96 i didn't spend a cent. Without DECA the game wouldn't exist, and that's enough for me to be grateful

Hi seb, do u know when mobile darza?
Rotmg: more colorful. more loot.
Darza: way more optimized.
Tbh I will still wait 10 hours for the damn logging screen to play Rotmg over Darza.
I'm sorry, it just looks way better to me.
I disagree. My potato PC runs rotmg like a charm and darza has terrible input lag unless I scale resolution way down. They both are about as optimized as a toaster in a bathtub.
Where is darza now? I'm on android and I went to get the game again and can't find it
Delayed to oblivion
3:40 Oh, it's me.... MOM, get the camera!
Yoooo lesss goooo
this made me want to play darza again.
What music is playing? I love it lol
been addicted to Darza for few weeks now
Itll have the same problem as rotmg, most of the potential players will never be able to enjoy the good gear because the hard dungeons dont exactly let you practise or figure out attack patterns without doing tons of research, just not fun to see other players with ut and st items when you can only ever get up to t9's (on darza) and t11-t12's (on rotmg) so the playerbase will be just like rotmg, a select few players, both games need boss and enemy scaling too, sucks you have to join a discord or have a bunch of friends just to good some of the good gear, you can solo dungeons WITH the good gear sure, but how do you get that as a solo player? Especially when someone that takes 0 damage from most mobs drags them into the boss arena or on top of you, pretty much intentionally killing your character
Darza Troller monkaW.
Nice video 👍
Inb4 it’s you!!
i play realm for like 8 years, and id use to love the old realm (before exalt). the exalt one is so heavy and fancy, i dont know, i just used to like the simple realm. i like the new content in realm, but i miss the simplicity of the old realm. if it only could keep everything it graphically was, and just adding the content, it would be nice. my opinion tho.
At the moment it just feels like a very unfinished project but im glad it could get me in to realm to enjoy the overwhelming abundance of content there while darza works on becoming the successor i know it can be.
i feel like darzas is like the old rotmg i love it.... fuck they even put up polls for the updates kinda cool to choose how the game develops
and thats coming from a first year rotmg player
Just play rotmg it’s way more defined😂
as a reg on aus servers they are very not dead as long as ur on at the right time
you can right-click someone to teleport, at least I can on my PC. can't right-click to trade though, and it's unfortunate that I have my ability bound to right-click, cause I use mana every time I teleport.
ive gotta try it out, i remember the mobile version and that was frankly terrible but this looks crazy, also hope beneath the nexus gets some sort of open testing soon
Me too : D
the only thing i wish darza did was add something that changes the way you play it, right now it just feels like a better fleshed out version (talking about the client issues) of rotmg with more love from the devs for the game and players. like for example the rune tree in beneath the nexus, it is still an mmorpg bullethell but the way you play it is entirely different. im not saying they should copy that but just making an example. this way they are distinguishing themselves as a "rotmg copy"
i dont knowif that made sense, english isnt my first language.
Did they release Darza on ohonev
Imma be honest, i've never had any frame skips in ROTMG, my computer's pretty average too
Hotline Miami soundtrack makes this video an instant banger
Yep hotline Miami music is cheating
im a top darza player, named poopstains. now i love darza. but no content to keep grinding and IRRITATING whitebag droprates. however, they did do AN AMAZING JOB on this client. it feels light years ahead of deca with rotmg. i even sent deca a support ticket asking them how a small team did what they couldnt.
yo how tf is your fps capped in rotmg? mine is not capped at all. Im using an amd rx 5700 non xt as my gpu and a ryzen 5 5600g as my cpu with 32gb of 3600mhz ram.
do you get pots from enemies or dungeons?
gems give you permanent stat upgrades in this game and they drop from enemies and dungeons ; D
The fact that Darzas loading times are faster and and less laggy Is just sad and shows deca is failing the community and the game, especially with all the capital the make from the game like come on talk about greed and carelessness

additional comment, practically all the hp scaling is perfect, EXCEPT DARZA HIMSELF, darza seems to scale way too hard and when alot of people leave, the kill ends up dragging along like heck LOL. and this is coming from someone with 4/4 gear, +14 stat pets instead of 10, since they are from the old days, ETC. so my chars are literately the strongest and cant even be achieved as of today yet. the lack of content is rough kuz darza is honestly great.... it BLOWS rotmg out of the water they just need a competetive amount of content.

They should release back to mobile tbh i miss having realm on the go

I love this game so much despite it being so early on. I hope they don’t add endgame dungeons that outweigh the value of fame trains, cause realm doesn’t have fame trains anymore, and I kinda enjoy just finding a path, calling “Starting a train” and farming, even if it’s repetitive. Or saying “call train”. If they add a “lost halls” equivalent to the game that kills trains, I’ll be sad.
i dont know i think its a good think to be hoenst cause it makes fame mroe skill fame, why do u want trains to stay? :P
@@sebchoof because realm doesn’t have them anymore.
Why play this when theres already a game slightly better graphic/content/items/population
I just feel like if I'm gonna play a knock off of X game, why not play the real. Thats just my opinion though, and I really hope the devs at Darza could figure out unique content for the game.
I really dislike the monetization of realm, the difficulty of endgame content in regards to skill/finding a group. Even the fact that one of the best ways to play the game is by standing in trade channel waiting for people to purchase key's to pop lol ......otherwise if you go into a realm its a real toss up if your going to be doing anything other then low-mid tier dungeons
Even endgame balances dont seem right to me.
Something that somewhat enjoyable in realm, as a noob, is playing for feed power, forging some gears to sell,
damn, i've never had any big performance issues in rotmg (granted i havent done like shatters or o3) but i cant play darza due to a constant low framerate
Oh that’s awesome if ur more into rotmg
Darza starts out at very high quality mode so if ur lagging just head over to the settings. Darza can run on basically anything
the minis in darza dies in like 2 seconds
they would defintely benefit from having more hp!
would have been neat if darza had tried something other than the same weapon-ability-armour-ring system
You got the title down! Love /Zac
I guess the unity false promises and wierd mobile purchases fires me up a bit xD but I feel like a daily criticised both games throughout

Man I miss rotf
As someone that's played ROTMG since 2011, Darzas is clearly better. I didn't even play it during it's original run (darza) so I'm in theory more biased toward ROTMG. My time playing darzas (70 hours) has far surpassed anything DECA has/will/could bring or change to ROTMG. Realm is stagnating and dying like with kabam.
Most if not all of these issues you have with realm (frame skips, lag etc) I have never had since exalt. Maybe check your hardware, drivers, overclocks etc.
