Mine wouldn’t go into battery after about 600 rounds. They sent me a new recoil spring for free and fixed the issue. I’m back to carrying it every day now
My MC9 was a first manufactured one and it started to have rounds nose dive on the feed ramp and they sent me a new recoil spring and then it seemed fine. 2 weeks ago it did it again and I just sent it in for warranty. I hope they settle the issue. I really like it a lot,,,shoots great.
I’ve had my mc9 for for 2 weeks already and know 2 weeks isn’t a lot but I’ve put 130 rounds through already. No problems what so ever for me. Magazines drop freely, return to battery is good, no malfunctions and shoots hollow points and other range ammo perfectly. Going to the range tomorrow for some more testing
I own the SFX Rival and so I was very interested in the MC9 when it first came out. I’m the kind of person that will research the hell outta something before I buy it. I was seeing the failure to go into battery issues and the mags not dropping free. I went to the gun range and rented one and sure enough it had these very issues. Keep in mind this was shortly after release. At that point I gave up on the MC9 but I couldn’t quit looking at videos about it and several months later Canik had seemed to fix these issues at the production level so I took a chance and ordered one with the highest serial number I could find. I have had it for several months now and only use the cheapest remain brass internet ammo I can find with zero issues. Mag drops fine slide locks back on empty and the only failure to go into battery I have experienced was 100% ammo related. Sorry for the extended comment but the moral to the story is I feel like these issues were in pre release models and have since been fixed.
I’ve had two MC9. The first one wouldn’t eject the 15 round magazine and also had trouble feeding 124 grain V crowns, which is my main carry ammo so I traded that in for a PDP. After watching your videos, I decided to purchase a second MC nine which I got about 100 rounds through and the slide quit locking back and then it wouldn’t feed any rounds. I couldn’t even get around into the chamber or get it to fire so I sent that back to Conn. I should have it back in about 6 weeks. So far, my luck hasn’t been as good as yours, but I really wish it would be. I really enjoy the gun and the way it looks the way it feels the way it shoots so far. I’m just having issues with the reliability when I get the pistol back, I’m gonna put a few more rounds through it if I have any issues, I will be purchasing a sig xmacro tac ops
Hundreds of rounds through mine. Got it on pre order so came the week it dropped. Had a couple issues with a full mag on the first round and returned to battery weird. But with all the issues I was seeing I was nervous. Had them send me a new spring and i have not had any issues. It's one of my summer carries. I babe the Mecanik MO1 on it. Have to get a new light and holster because I don't like the olight because of the way I hold my pistol is slams back into my thumbs and hurts.
Got mine recently in FDE and man this thing is a dream in every way, I don’t know if I got lucky or what but it’s absolutely perfect in every way hahaha it replaced my glock as my edc and I will never look back and that’s coming from a die hard glock fan boy lol
Never had an issue with mine either and I’m 800 rounds into mine. Freedom Smiths trigger with Mecanik 01 optic. Very good and accurate hand gun. As far as triggers it is very nice but one caveat is my Walther PDP trigger it’s unmatched and while my Canik is close it’s not beating my Walther. Love them both….
Canik sending me a brand new mc9. 650 rounds and had out of battery issues and rounds jamming on the feed ramp. HP and FMJ had issues. Customer support was great but was highly disappointed. Hopefully the new one works
I bought an MC9 4 weeks ago and took it to the range to try it out. Loved the way it shoots but, had numerous light strike (failure to fire). Ran any bad rounds through my Rival-S. All rounds fired no problem. I was with an instructor. We ran the ammo through his Glock as well. No problems. It was federal american eagle 115. I did a course of fire for my CCW test as practice. Had some 10 shot mags where 3 rounds out of 10 light were strikes. Want to use this for my CCW. Sent it back for warranty repair. Hopefully it comes back soon. Really like your videos.
That sucks bro! Hopefully you just got a lemon. They should really nice and it’s perfect for a ccw so I hope the issue is addressed! Thanks for watching! 🙌🏾
Thanks! This was really helpful. My girlfriend recently got her concealed carry license, and we were looking for options for her. She really likes this one. I carry an XD, but I might pick up one of these as well as a backup. There's a really good deal on these now. Cheers!
I really like my MC9. I had the recoil spring overlap issue, but Canik sent me a new one within a week and I fixed the overlapped spring myself (so I have a backup now). I also have an SF Elite with over 1k rounds through and zzzzero malfunctions.
Your TLR-7 Sub is that the 1913 one or the GL or SA?? I bought an MC9 and am wanting to put a stream light on it I seen that the TLR-7 Sub should fit but they have 3 variations.
With the red dot and good technique, the MC9 is so good especially with its trigger. Add a light to reduce recoil and a tape grip for better control. This gun competes worth higher end guns easily.
just wanted to give you some feedback on the plus 1 issue you are experiencing with the extended mag. i spoke with Ron at taylorfreelance and he explained that with some of the mags, the plastic loader attached to the top of the spring will get stuck at the top of the lip on the back of the extended based plate. You have to file down the 2 little legs on the back on the loader. Try filing it so that it makes a little ramp, that way when your loader reaches that point of tension near the bottom, it will kiss that lip and slip past that top part of the extender. I'm no gun smith but after doing this, I was able to get plus 4 on my mc9 using the same extension you have in this video. In total, my 12 rounder now holds 16
@@dariuskincaid sure thing! There is a catch that me and Ron just discovered today. The 12 round spring is set for the 12 round base plate and does not provide enough pressure for the gun to lock back when empty if used with the +4 extension. So you get the extra 4 rounds but you don't get that lock back on E. Luckily I have a SF Elite with the 15 rounder so I just swapped springs. Now the 12 rounder w/ the extended base plate has the 15 round spring and locks open majority of the time. It still slips up from time to time but I just intend to use this as a secondary mag so its no big deal.. The weird thing is, my SF Elite seems to lock back perfectly fine even though it has that 12 round spring!
With the discontinuation of the PPQ, the Canik IS a delightful rebirth of the style. Then again, the PDP is just too square and bulky in the slide. The SC and MC 9 are just the right size in my hand, and the tiny pinky hook and the Plus 3 magazines are equally handy and still concealable.
Love you channel bro I'm definitely subscribing. How do you feel about carrying a weapon with an aftermarket trigger? I know alot of people in the gun community say it makes the gun significantly more susceptible to an accidental discharge. How do you feel in general and about the freedomsmith trigger specifically on the canik?
I picked up a MC9 yesterday at a gun show. So far I like it, but no one ever seems to mention how absurdly hard it is to rack the slide. I have owned many Glocks and Sigs and they were never this stiff. I’m hoping it’ll loosen up a bit after a few hundred rounds.
A lot of people who have had problems with the MC9 started out using 115 gran if they ran 2 boxes of 124 first for a break in period they would have no problems at all. People just want to bash canik

Man I watched all your videos and I’m stuck on the mc9 vs the elite sc I’ve found both around the 330.00 range brand new just kinda worried about the issues but for the price I’m just gonna go the mc9 route I’ll probably grab the sc in the next month or so
I had a hard time choosing also. Had both in my hands and the sc felt better. I went with the mc9 because a friend had one and it shot great. I ended up with a lemon and am in the process of getting it repaired. Really wish I went with the sc.
@@justinkaemmerer1671 my friends mc9 is very nice and accurate which is why I chose this over the elite. If you get a good one , they are really nice.
