It is normal for it to take a few days to join an active corp. The most important thing is: If it turns out that you do not like the corp, change the corp.

I spent 6 years playing solo. Finally, I was able to find a corp and alliance that I like, but I do miss playing solo sometimes. Also, a lot of the Corperations have stupid discords, core services, and ESI Authorizations. It was like a college application. And the Corp I joined was brave newbies. And I waited... and waited...and waited as well.

There’s a reason bro. There are spys everywhere that would love to take down corps and alliances via asymmetric warfare. This isn’t your normal run of the mill mmorpg.

I'm in a corp of my own, have 3, and I find its much easier then when you join a corp and just pay tax. A good corp will make the tax worth paying. If you don't think your getting value out of the tax in the corp your in, your probably in a bad corp. A good corp had LEADERSHIP. It has GOALS. That means you need to find a corp that has goals you have with the leadership to make sure its being done effectively. But in the end, most people don't take goal setting to seriously. Its we do . 99% of all corps are not good corps at all except if its yours as you reap the mechanical options and benefits that can only be had by controlling it.

I just returned again for the first time in a long time. Last time I tried Eve, I joined, made a character and basically did about 6 missions for the agents and then just never had the time to play. Now that I have a little more time I’ve just returned and made another fresh character even though my other character has an age of 17 years and 5 months ago. I wanted to actually take the time and learn the game, and like you have been thinking about joining a corp since I have no friends that play Eve. Unfortunately, I keep running into a lot of videos and comments complaining about how life in a corp is. I don’t want a specific role either, I would just like to hang out and chill with people, ask questions when I need help or info and not feel like I’m asking a stupid question. Help others with knowledge once I’ve had enough time to learn it myself, and just have fun like the way I felt back during my Starwars Galaxies days.

I came back to Eve after about a 5 year break. Fresh character. New beginnings.
I jumped corps for about a month trying to find a group of people that I felt like I clicked with. Some corps outright lied about the activities they did or how often just to get me in.. another told me they were USTZ but werent on or did any corp fleets until like 3am..
Eventually landed in a small wormhole alliance with some overall good people that are knowledgable and willing to fleet up and do shit if I'm ever bored.
They always say having an extensive employment history EVE can be a bad look (which could be true to a degree..), but if thats what you gotta do to find what clicks with you, then oh well! :D

As someone who makes most of their ISK through the in game chat function, I can definitely tell you that EVE is a very social game if you're just willing to talk to people. shoot the shit. I remember when I first started it was hard to find people out there doing stuff but you also gotta make sure that you yourself are are also out there doing stuff, doesnt even matter much what that thing is just be active out in space. If you're reading this then you're already doing yourself a favor by being here cause thats another thing the vast vast vast vast majority of relevant game knowledge is just a Google/UA-cam search query away

Uhm, I already have a place where I'm a specialist and I do the same things every day. It's called A JOB.
Eve is a GAME, where I like mining - for an hour or so - but then I want to scan data sites - until I don't anymore - and I'll manufacture stuff to sell - until that's all set until the next day - and then I'll brave lowsec and wormholes - until I can't stare at dscan anymore and I need to go to the bathroom and don't want to come back to a pile of space debris - and then go rat hunting ...
Why on earth does anyone want to specialize?
I want a Corp where I can get better at lots of things. I've already got a day job....

Everything is a competition between players (pvp) in Eve Online, even things that might seem peaceful.
Making frinends, trading in the market, traveling through space, mining in high sec, everything is pvp.
By choosing to play Eve, you're basically agreeing to constant pvp.
New players should keep a solo player mind set at first. This will help you get the hang of the game.
The best activities for beginners are ice mining and security missions in high-security space (high sec).
These are good ways to make money (ISK).
PvP (player versus player) combat can be fun, but it's best to avoid it for a while.
Having a bad security status can make learning the game more difficult.
Honestly, a secondary alpha account might be the best way to learn combat PvP early on.
You don't need expensive ships to learn how to fight and win.
New players can join a corporation (corp) to ask questions and learn from others.
However, don't expect to become best friends with everyone if anyone right away.
Eve can be a bit like a high school with established groups, and it takes time to truly be part of one.
There is a chance you never become part of the group.
Espionage and backstabbing are normal part of eve online, and something new players should be aware of.
This is more true in corps that ask for API.
API keys can be very dangerous for new players. I think it's a mistake for CCP (the game developers) to allow them so easily.
Basically, an API key gives someone access to your in-game information.
This can be used for spying or scamming, especially by some corporations (corps).
Here's the problem: if you leave a corp that has your API key, it can be difficult to completely remove access. You might even need to start a new account. The scary part is that these API tools are often made by third-party companies. There's no way to know for sure what they're doing with your information. With enough access, they could steal your stuff. This is something I've learned from personal experience.
"Everyone does it" don't forget, Everything in eve is pvp. if you get scammed or backstabbed, it is considered your fault always.
Don't be fooled by the first few months in Eve Online.
It might feel friendly with all the helpful advice and seemingly nice people.
But it is all just for show, Eve online is a cutthroat game once you get through the honeymoon phase.
    Trust no one.
I am being honest, it really is this bad.
CCP let espionage go to far and it is killing the game.
Further more CCP has done very little to give players reasons to play past the initial new player experience.
High sec security missions and ice are practically the only things new players can safely do that is legitimately worth the time investment.
I really don't understand why there can't be more collectible or fun items,
everything has to be geared for practicality and only useable for long term players.
I have played Eve for a year with multiple accounts now.
Big space battles (60+ billion isk fleet lost in ships for one of them), pirating in groups, exploring, mining and industry.
All in different sized player made corporations, some i was in for months.
Other new players expressed how i felt as well, never really part of the group.
the battle / pvp corps treat you as a spy for a very long time and its pretty much impossible to ever break into the cliques.
even in the smaller corps 20-30 people.
for the pvp stuff in corps, you are simply told to show up randomly in discord. what ship to fly, which fittings to use, where to meet up.
to a degree i totally understand keeping information secret, but there is a point that you feel more like a bot than part of a battle group.
Now days i just stay in one of the NPC corps, I have jump clones in all of the different regions with a full set of ships at each.
(you can set up multiple jump clones rather than actually having to fly across space)
Its actually a more enjoyable experience than being in the player corps.
Many player corps won't add new players to prevent issues as well.
Eve at one point was a group based game, that isn't the experience now.
If you don't have a solo player mentality Eve online isn't the right game for you.
Many long term players criticize new players for being cowards or not being able to handle the game.
but the reality is that new players never really have a chance to enjoy the game.

  • @theexhunt1437
    @theexhunt1437 4 місяці тому

Finding a good Corp is a struggle not just for newer Players. Finding the right group doing the things that you are interested in while the ppl have the "vibe" that you are comfortable with is a journey. Thats normal. Look around ... dont be afraid to switch every now and then. Listen to what ppl have to say about other Corps. Take the chances you have to fly with other Corps yourself.

I've returned to Eve after years away also. I'm about a month in with a fresh character and I've since started training a new PI alt as well. I'm enjoying being a lone wolf for now. I looked at Eve Uni but baulked at the prerequisites. Not a criticism as Eve Uni is an amazing resource, just that with kids and RL there's a risk a fresh obligation to a group of keen Eve players might dilute the fun I'm having now. I'm considering starting a new solo corp with my old character and joining my two new ones for corp benefits such as a shared wallet and reduced tax. While solo I still enjoy participating in a MMO setting with the odd social interaction via local and chat channels.
I'm enjoying your content, thanks. :)

Lol and that's why I fly solo. To much nonsense, understandable when it comes to not wanting your things stolen, discord is a real problem for me. Everyone wants to voice chat, that's a hard pass, if I got something to say I'll just type it. With my speed it's like I'm speaking. Also I'm a vandal in space, if that floating can isn't nailed down it's coming with me.
Now of course if it's an allies can, I ignore it. But I practically fly around with a permanent target on my back, love the thrill. I'll stay solo.

I definitely sympathize with the issues you had. I had similar issues coming back to the game a couple of years ago and not realizing that a lot of the recruitment happens outside of the game now.
That said, ignoring the external APIs and discord requirements, the video makes it sound like you kind of just expected to put in an application and join without actually talking to anyone? It sounds like you put in an in game application without ever talking to a recruiter (since they would've told you to go to discord), and when you put in a discord application you didn't think to check it for replies?
Like these are people you were, presumably, flying alongside in the same militia for a month but at no point did you just...talk to them about your application? Unless their recruiters are incredibly slow, I don't see how else you could've gone a month without being accepted or rejected.

Like I say, I really do sympathize with how joining a corp in eve can feel like trying to get an actual job at times, but it is still an MMO. To, seemingly, not try talking to someone from the corp you're applying to for a month in a genre known for it's social elements is on you imo.

After a 6yr hiatus I returned to Eve and felt it might be a good thing to join a large corp to earn ISK ratting in nullsec. I'm not mentioning which corp because I suspect the same, of not worse, happens elsewhere. I ended up with some uppity dude drilling me for hours about what I could and could not do, what apps I had to use, where I could and couldn't go, which ships I was allowed to use, so on and so forth. After making a few early mistakes since I really couldn't take in every scrap of information being aimed at me, I got told off, threatened with expulsion and all the time spoken down to like I was a complete newb. I put up with it for about 5 days before getting the hell out of Dodge. It made me ill with anxiety and frankly, if this is what they call a game then I'd stick to something nice and easy like astrophysics or neurosurgery.

For the third corp, i've told them that i had a friendly spy in PH for years. They replied "oh thats alright. We are aware that PH has many spies which share fake intel and such". They asked me if i awoxed anyone. Told'em no but they did not belive me and got rejeceted.
    List goes on...

@@cybercereal-gg yeah, I apparently had a lot of suspicious activity. Most of my answers were that I genuinely had no idea what they were asking.

@@cybercereal-gg trust needs to be earnd. But i am still wondering that you get rejected that many times..
I was suspected few times to be a spy, too. Even i got recruited by somebody and never did anything like awoxing or stealing in my whole EVE career😅
