Back in 2003, a new F-150 XL could be bought for $23,000 OTD. I never thought it was affordable. But, by today's standard, it was practically given away for free.
In 2021, I picked up a 2018 F150 XLT with the 5.0, 4x4, and 38k miles for 31k OTD. 50k is absolutely INSANE for a base model truck. Id buy a Maverick for the commuting I do now but I could never replace my truck for what I paid!
Priced out an affordable truck for me similar to this one. $52000, Ford, keep it. I'll drive my 250000 mile truck until the wheels fall off, and then I'll fix it. The last new Ford I bought blew a head gasket at 7000 miles.....
I know that it was 20 years ago but I'm still driving my work van that I bought brand new about this time of year in 2004. It is a Ford E350 Super Duty van, regular size that has a side sliding door and a bulkhead behind the seats. Roll up windows but PS, PB, AC, FM Stereo The sticker was 27,500 and with my trade I paid 25K and used Fords zero down and zero % financing. It still rides like a dream fully loaded with my tools and parts. I put on Alcoa forged wheels. So, basically trucks like these cost about 1000 bucks more every year. I think a new Base E350 Transit will push over 50K equipped like mine. It's crazy the cost of the new vehicles. just mad!!!
Another YT channel has mentioned that those taillights fail and are very expensive to replace. Also, when they fail they affect other systems on the vehicle.
I just purchased a 2024 Ford F-150 Laredo. 77k Never in my wildest dreams what I believe I pay that much for a Ford product. I know without any hesitation Henry Ford himself is smiling from heaven.
@musicovermyhammond9994 2022 . I love it... you can leave the AC or heat on , without truck running , while shopping. It can run my house during power outages . 430hp-570lb tq is awsome for towing.
My 2010 Sierra has the extended cab suicide doors that swing out 180 degrees -and I love them! I'm so glad Ford is still making them. It makes loading my folding electric bikes in the backseat so much easier than 4 traditional doors.
I plan on getting a 250 xl with the chrome apperaance package its basically a xlt and the rims look alot more 250 rim than what they have on the xlt’s now
Looks nice, I bought a 23' STX with the 2.7 Ecoboost because they sold the 5.0 I was gonna get, and I love it. The first test drive when I drove it (@Tomball Ford TX.), it really threw me back in the seat, so I went ahead and picked, the one I got now. The 5.0 I wanted was area 51 blue, and mine is Atlas blue, which I preferred that color over the area 51, but wanted the V-8 that was the only V-8 in stock at the time and new, but sold before I got there. So I didn't get the engine I wanted at the time, but got the color I wanted instead, and have no regrets now as the 2.7 got plenty under the hood lol. Oh Compacted graphite block is the same material as the 6.7 Powerstroke, that is why it is insanely powerful for such small cubic inches and takes a lot of boost. 325 HP and 400 FT LBS of Torque out of 2.7 liters is great for that small engine.
Too bad the 2.7 has a rubber belt running the oil pump inside the engine bathed in oil. Oil and rubber don't mix and it requires going in past the timing chains to get to. Not sure on the service interval recommend by ford but I'd guess 100k maybe 150k. I'd trade it before it gets out of warranty if I were you. Not to mention theses gas turbo engines just don't have the longevity or reliability of their naturally aspirated counterparts.
@@georgiadronefootage4136 Well on that note, the belt is actually Kevlar not rubber, and the block is extremely overbuilt using a material that is used in the diesel turbo's called compacted graphite so I think it will be alright.
I would honestly take the 2.7 over the current gen 5.0. They ruined that engine with the cylinder deactivation, direct injection, and the oil consumption issues from the welded cylinder surface. I have a 2015 with the 5.0 with 175000 trouble free miles on it and I love it. Anything post 2018 though I wouldn’t get a 5.0. My dad and best friend both have 2018s with the 2.7 when they added the port injection back to it and it has been zero issues for them. The 2.7 is a pretty old proven block design. I don’t like the belt driven oil pump either, but that’s what it is so there isn’t much you can do. It is not true that rubber and oil don’t mix. I have a degree in rubber engineering. Kevlar and nitrile rubber are not affected by gas or oil. Rubbers like natural rubber and EPDM would definitely be broken down by oil, but those aren’t something a belt would be made out of. Think of the fuel hoses at the gas station that hold up to gasoline. That is a point though that belts wear out so it will remain to be seen how well those hold up. I think the days of being able to buy a new truck with a simple naturally aspirated engine are pretty much over sadly.
As long as it has the rubber flooring. Even if I ordered an upmarket truck, I’d spec the rubber floor. Sweep and wipe, no vac. A set of step up running boards would also be nice.
This is THE most informative video I have found on the 2024 F150 XL. The company I work for just ordered a whole fleet of these (which I imagine are with the 2.7L V6 Ecoboost) and I’m extremely impressed with how loaded these are for a base model! Ford really did their thing with the new F-series trucks, and as many will argue the price tag being outrageous, sadly this is what the world is coming to. Excited for when they issue one of these to me 😁🤞🏾
I have a 2013 XL single cab. The original MSRP was $26k and included $2k of options like alloys and SYNC. The 2024 XL is $39k as a stripper. Now that’s inflation.
50 grand for a damn-near base model? The prices have gone from absurd to hilarious. Good luck. When my 2020 f150 shits the bed I’m just gonna go to auctions and pay the mechanics the difference to make it work 😂
Cool review, thanks for showing all the features you get on an XL. I assume the gear shifter goes to PARK automatically when you open the door to get out on that (like the XLT you showed did)? I assumed the XL had halogens, so it is a surprise to see LED reflectors instead. I wonder how much those cost to replace if and when they fail or burn out? I know those rear tail light assemblies are notoriously expensive to replace, since you also have that blind spot monitor module to also replace (if you got damage to the thing, etc.).
Just left a deposit on a 2024 SuperCrew XL with 103A package which gives you a few extras… and I realized it’s way too much money after watching this video. Ford can keep ‘em. Calling tomorrow and cancelling lol. Thank you.
I'm sitting here trying to wrap my head around this much stuff in an XL truck. If I didn't already have a truck I'm happy with, a 2024 XL would be all I needed. Back in 2018 when my truck was new, you would have had to step up to a Lariat to get some of this stuff.
Do they make a truck without all the “driver assist “? It failed on our transit in 6 months, it would also follow any line on the road, so it self drove us off the road, digital dash in our 23 f150 quit working before the first oil change. My 18 f150 is perfect besides it dings at me over every little thing too much.
I've disabled both the lane assist and the collision detection. I just dont trust it with when it's kicked in, and on slick roads in winter I don't want it turning or braking like that. I HATE all digital dashes, they should be outlawed. I love to have extra info on a side screen like in my 2019 Ranger but I don't want to lose the screen and not be able to see speed or make setting changes. Why put all your eggs in one basket, rather have an analog or two and maybe one info screen for more info.
2 notes: 1) not affordable. 2) Chevy literally offers 2 models of the Silverado at lower prices than this. And said Silverado’s have 4 doors, no suicide.
I was in Texas and the Ford dealership offered me a 2024 Ford F-150 STX TRUCK V6 EcoBoost for $39,500. I declined and decided to wait until the price drops to around $37,000.
15 years ago, just before the 2009 recession, I was almost able to pull the trigger on buying a brand-new XLT SuperCab 4x4 with the 4.6L 3v. The MSRP then was about 42k. The 2024 equivalent, a XLT SuperCab 4x4 with the 2.7L EcoBoost is now 68k.
I mean I definitely get your point, prices are ridiculous, but you're off by about $10K. $68K is crew cab, fully loaded XLT territory(though an XLT should not cost that... That's Lariat territory...), SuperCabs max out about $58/59K. Your point still stands, just $10K is a pretty big difference, in terms of affordability.
I'm old enough to remember my dad bought a ford ranger xlt back in 1972 in 1973 it cost 4200.00 u/s dollars, now good luck with trying to buy a truck now, really when a vehicle cost as much as house.
Honda has had that window roll down feature for years! My 2004 accord does it! And if you use the key in the door lock and lock then hold lock it’ll roll the windows up
Bought a new then 2015 FX4 package 4x4 F-150(5.0) XLT for $34K. That truck now has 80k miles. To buy it new now , would cost $60K+. Ridiculous for what they're asking on them now
If I bought this, I would upgrade the wheels, get fog lights, mud flaps. Then take it to a muffler shop so that they can reconfigure the tail pipe so that it isn't as visible.
Driving this exact truck for work right now. A/c just went out and it has 400 miles! Its brand new. Its 95 degrees in south fla. Needless to say i will not be buying a ford!
I'll be interested when I can get it with a third pedal and two sticks on the floor to go with the 3.5TT Until then, my 2012 is as new as I go. 220,000 and still going on the OG drivetrain.
I'm confuse... you are showing the XL or the STX ? because I see the XL at 53 seconds of the video and then I see the STX...The XL does not come with a back seat or yes?
So I am looking into these trucks and really like the STX 2wd with the 5.0. I am wanting a 2wd with the V8 for reliability because it's a proven setup. What are your thoughts on the EcoBoost versus power boost versus the coyote? And what are your thoughts about reliability of those motors when you want a truck that you would like to keep for 10 plus years.
After having a newer F150, i got tired of turbos, auto start/stop BS and huge payments. I found a '14 XLT w/ NA 3.7 V6 and 3:73 axles, the 6 speed 6r80 trans with 40k miles on it. I over paid for it but am so much happier with the over all simplicity and performance of the truck itself, and owning it outright. Its the end of '24 and these auto makers are starting to feel what they have done to all of us past 3 years. Let them suffer a bit until they start offering affordable, simple vehicles again. The EPA getting waxed should help a lot.
I appreciate that you mentioned the larger fuel tank option for this truck. My father's old pickup had two gas tanks. Does Ford off the option of having a Main fuel tank AND an Auxiliary fuel tank in the F-150?

I have a 2000 Ranger extended cab with a six foot bed. Built like a tank with the 3.0 Vulcan engine. Well maintained inside and out. Gets 17-23 mpg. I’ve done regular maintence and redid the front end and shocks a year ago. No way am I paying $40,000 plus for a truck. That’s insane.
3.0 In rangers are junk
i forget what engine my 2000 ranger had but i know it was a V6. she had 4x4 with the 6' bed and extended cab (the one with the fold down seats and just one suicide door. she looked like a tetinous shot waiting to happen but the drive train was solid and the engine never once gave me any trouble. best yet i only paid $2k for her (ok she did need a new front window but i got a good deal on that.) sadly the frame rusted out about 2 years ago and i sold her for parts. she had over 350k miles on her by then.
i now drive a 2011 F-150 (same cab as the one in this vid) i would give just about anything to have my ranger back. (paid $9,850 for it. but its way to big with a bed the same as the ranger. seems about worthless to me. i still have about $1k left on the loan and then i will be looking for a new small truck. hell if i save up enough by then i will special order just what i want from whatever brand will give me what i want)
the XLT and STX have gotten so many upgrades for their standard items, the Lariat is basically a luxury truck.
Still too much crap, basic XLT like we had in the 90's. AC, PS, PW, PD, PB, 4x4, Cloth seats, bright appearance - done!
😪😪
I want a manual transmission and manual roll down windows, no radio,no a/c, for $15,000 the most 💯🙏
They also got rid of the basic non turbo v6 motor
You can have exactly that, but it will be 40yrs old
You'll need a time machine to take you back to 2006 except no manual available.
You’re gay! 🎉💯🙏🏼
@@insaneshane2049 that is not something the Lord would want you to say
Back in 2003, a new F-150 XL could be bought for $23,000 OTD. I never thought it was affordable. But, by today's standard, it was practically given away for free.
No the digital dash is a bad idea. If it fails then all the instruments are gone.
😪😪
I agree, always liked analog dials. Digital dash looks cheap and bland.
😪😪SHOULD'VE COPIED EITHER GM'S OR RAM'S ONE
It’s crap
😢😢
In 2021, I picked up a 2018 F150 XLT with the 5.0, 4x4, and 38k miles for 31k OTD. 50k is absolutely INSANE for a base model truck. Id buy a Maverick for the commuting I do now but I could never replace my truck for what I paid!
8:20 “this is not a base model truck”
9:25 “this is a base model BASE MODEL truck “
😂
Priced out an affordable truck for me similar to this one. $52000, Ford, keep it. I'll drive my 250000 mile truck until the wheels fall off, and then I'll fix it. The last new Ford I bought blew a head gasket at 7000 miles.....
I bought my 2019 F250 6.7 for $53K new and this truck in $48,900. Wow. That industry has gone off the deep end.
Crazy that single cab 4x4 5.0 trucks sell. everyone wants a drag race track
Truck not track lol
It's crazy the cost of the new vehicles. just mad!!!
i’ve been a lariat and above type of person but i think now ima go for a xl with katskin leather on seats
This guy looks fun to be around
Went to build one with base trim xl, tow package and 4x4. Looking at almost 48k. Outrageous
The Dodge Dumpster was Phenomenal!!!! 😂👏👊🏻💥
Great Job Mitchell
🤪🤣👊
Another YT channel has mentioned that those taillights fail and are very expensive to replace. Also, when they fail they affect other systems on the vehicle.
At least they brought back the standard V-8. But that should be starting at 28,000 and fully decked out 32.000 maybe….
Those times are long gone
@@fidoramavision6823 long gone along time ago, reality hits some harder than others
crazy how in 2019 people were shocked at how the new ram 1500 limited cost 65k. Now people are paying 65k for used trucks with 50-100k miles
I just purchased a 2024 Ford F-150 Laredo. 77k
Never in my wildest dreams what I believe I pay that much for a Ford product.
I know without any hesitation Henry Ford himself is smiling from heaven.
I bought the XL 7.2kw Powerboost in Antimater Blue.
2 options : fog lights and tow package.
2 wheel drive and getting 30+ MPG in town
What year is it? Just curious. And how are you liking the power?boost
@musicovermyhammond9994 2022 .
I love it... you can leave the AC or heat on , without truck running , while shopping.
It can run my house during power outages .
430hp-570lb tq is awsome for towing.
But it’s still $50k. I’m retired and there’s no frigging way I could afford this… Good job Ford!
My 2010 Sierra has the extended cab suicide doors that swing out 180 degrees -and I love them! I'm so glad Ford is still making them. It makes loading my folding electric bikes in the backseat so much easier than 4 traditional doors.
You know, there’s this thing behind the cab that would hold those bikes with ease. Just saying.
Agreed, if it weren't being used for our 5th wheel. My point was how convenient it is to not have the door frames in the way.
I plan on getting a 250 xl with the chrome apperaance package its basically a xlt and the rims look alot more 250 rim than what they have on the xlt’s now
i love the way this truck looks
50k for a base truck is comical.
So, can you get it with a 5 Speed manual and a reliable engine (Meaning non turbo non ecoboost)?
Hey 6.3 why don’t you tell us about the towing and payload!
Love the configuration. Not the price. 50k is not affordable. 😊
What’s the payload ?
This is THE most informative video I have found on the 2024 F150 XL. The company I work for just ordered a whole fleet of these (which I imagine are with the 2.7L V6 Ecoboost) and I’m extremely impressed with how loaded these are for a base model! Ford really did their thing with the new F-series trucks, and as many will argue the price tag being outrageous, sadly this is what the world is coming to. Excited for when they issue one of these to me 😁🤞🏾
can you still get the 3.3 n/a engine? $48k is still a bit much.
Perfect truck to customize and make your own, like I did with my 2021 ranger xl
I have a 2013 XL single cab. The original MSRP was $26k and included $2k of options like alloys and SYNC. The 2024 XL is $39k as a stripper. Now that’s inflation.
I remember buying my first pickup back in '28 for $375.00. 116 years old and still truckin'!
I remember hand-building a stone box that drove with our legs running on the ground through the bottom
They cost this much because people keep paying.
Just left a deposit on a 2024 SuperCrew XL with 103A package which gives you a few extras… and I realized it’s way too much money after watching this video. Ford can keep ‘em. Calling tomorrow and cancelling lol. Thank you.
rhe best f-150 walk around on youtube!
Try and price out one of those taillights!!!!! But, I will say that this is the truck that l would buy.!! Very nice truck.
10 years ago this was a $25k truck.
Everything was half the price 10yrs ago...
You mean 6 years ago. 4 years ago you could get that truck in regular cab for $20,000
I'm sitting here trying to wrap my head around this much stuff in an XL truck.
Nice job going over that 103A package.....
The landscapers around here drive old beaters that are dependable without all the electrical bs. They are smart.
Good luck finding one on the lot.
Do you accept X-Plan on all trims or just some? Would love to get a Tremor or Raptor (either F-150 or Ranger)?
@@Scout819 No, my prices are correct. I just forgot to mention where I live, in Canada.
This was a great video and has put the ford f 150 at the top of my list. I like more basic.
I'm old enough to remember my dad bought a ford ranger xlt back in 1972 in 1973 it cost 4200.00 u/s dollars, now good luck with trying to buy a truck now, really when a vehicle cost as much as house.
$4200 then is almost 32k today, a Ranger is right in this ballpark for lower trims........
Honda has had that window roll down feature for years! My 2004 accord does it! And if you use the key in the door lock and lock then hold lock it’ll roll the windows up
My 03 has over 402,000 and still going,,, 4.2 liter 5 speed manual everything
How tall is the cab, Did Ford shorten the cab, fluff the seats,
When the price comes down $20,000 I may go look at one!!
SuperCab/ExtCab is available on XL STX & XLT correct me if I'm wrong.
I bought a 2006 xl 4.2 for 16400 with bedliner and tint. The world is insane. I drive a 2003 I paid 10k for in 2008 with 227xxx and I am grateful
I will keep my 2011 Ranger. Its paid for❤.
Bought a new then 2015 FX4 package 4x4 F-150(5.0) XLT for $34K. That truck now has 80k miles. To buy it new now , would cost $60K+. Ridiculous for what they're asking on them now
Would love to see a walk around of the platinum and king ranch. Thanks.
I'm happy with my 1995 5.0 V8 f150
If I bought this, I would upgrade the wheels, get fog lights, mud flaps. Then take it to a muffler shop so that they can reconfigure the tail pipe so that it isn't as visible.
In 2030 I’m buying it used haha. Looks excellent
This guy is a JACKA** tagging this as affordable. 49k and you can’t even move the driver’s seat up and down. 😂
My wife said thats not a “trash bag holder”. She says its for a womans pocketbook.
lmao that's funny
I like the column shifter. I wonder what the gas mileage is for this truck.
$50K for a 1/2 ton truck alone is ridiculous, but even more so for an XLford. Has the world gone bonkers.
Forget all the high technology bring back roll up windows basic AC and AM/FM radio. I can still turn my head to look behind me when I am reversing.
Im only 35 years old but i would prefer crank windows and analog gauges and a 4x4 shifter on the floor.
Do a deep dive on the lariat!
On the way! 🫡
I appreciate that you mentioned the larger fuel tank option for this truck.
My father's old pickup had two gas tanks. Does Ford off the option of having a Main fuel tank AND an Auxiliary fuel tank in the F-150?
I would put 20’s on that beauty and be proud
Last summer I bought a brand new Toyota Tacoma SR with 4 doors 4wd and the V6 for $36k OTD
