Mike, if you can, please. Do the extended version of this.
It could be a series, a UA-cam Members thing, PayPal or Patreon paid, whatever. I'd gladly pay for it and we need it.
Your videos are SUCH a sanity relief, a refined source of good science, a very helpful analytical perspective on what bad science in those topics is and WHY it's so. And much more.
*I* alone could do a video just to state how good and time saving your production is!
    It is VERY important.
You already have, single handedly, outdone the entire team of the Hot Mess channel, from "It's Okay to be Smart" people (if I'm not misremembering the source channel). And they DID do a hot mess of a job not being able to see their carnistic ideology downplaying straight up scientific facts, which, on the contrary path, is your specialty to bring forth.
Please consider it kindly. I know it's a lot of work, maybe you can hire people to help in the production. Make a Kickstarter/crowd funding, I KNOW I'm not alone in this. We'll finance it along with the leadership of your effort and expertise.
    Please let it sink in.
I send you much love in the most thankful manner. You helped me SO much in activism (and to BECOME active).
And I'm a biologist... You helped me unlearn so many vices and reproduction of carnist, industry supported lies that were in the school books I learned with, heard from my college professors and teached back at my students when I was still a teacher in Brazil.
    thank YOU.

Nothing in that article even comes close to suggesting that a vegan diet isn’t more beneficial for the environment.
For starters, the vegan-friendly foods discussed in the article aren’t exclusive to vegans. Non-vegans consume them too. Secondly, the objection levied by the article isn’t about veganism versus non-veganism. Rather, it’s about importing versus growing locally. It has nothing to do with veganism.
Let’s assume that we all grow our food locally. Which lifestyle is likely to be better for the environment in terms of water consumption, land use, pollution, carbon emissions, etc.?

    • @crazee4590
      @crazee4590 4 роки тому +10

@azorel azorel the article concludes if you source locally, it doesnt put strain on other countries for their food. But if the billions of animals in our agricultural system weren't eating so much, then we would have enough food for all of those starving in impoverished nations. Meat is a privilege in most countries. It holds on to US tax subsidies like a crutch. If it were running standard market price, less people would be eating it and our poorer population in food deserts would not be surviving off of McDonald's. I get there are some regions that absolutely rely on their livestock to survive, but the average middle to upper class American, which I'm going to assume you are since you have access to both a device and internet to watch this on, do NOT need to be eating so much meat. And there are much more sustainable vegan food options than bougie avocado toasts, look into staple foods from Ital diets and Indian diets.

      @ParadymShiftVegan 4 роки тому +15

It's not minor when you stop and think about it. These innocent victims are born and raised in hellish conditions for their entire lives before the knife goes across their throat and they die. You already know what it's like for animals to be born, live, and die from your own family and perhaps pets. Plants are obviously different since it's just water, dirt, soil, seed (and fertilizer) without any of the complications of having a nervous system, digestive system, etc.

All fruit peels go straight into compost bins. In 2 months they’ll feed my mom’s fruit trees (we got jack fruit, mango, dragon fruit & banana trees), my green beans, loofah, zucchini, tomato vines, ginger, galangal & turmeric plants and the liquid that come out of it every week feed all the other veggies that i grow hydroponically. CC CC I've spoken to many carnists and guided them to sound research and authoritative sources on veganism and still they find flaws in it even when there are none, or at the very least, when it still is a better alternative than continuing with the present state of affairs. Why? The truth is that most carnists have a very strong attachment to the sensuous pleasure of eating meat: tasting its flavor, and feeling the texture and juiciness of meat. I bet your salivary glands are already working just by reading this, aren't they? That's why it is paramount to continue supporting companies that create plant based meat (fake meat) that can compete against real meat in all the aforementioned aspects. One big problem is government and the collusion there exists with the animal farm industry: the government subsidizes the cost of meat to such a degree that not only does it make for affordable meat production but it also masks the real cost it has on the environment by helping produce it.

The worlds never gonna be fully vegan so stop beating a dead horse. Also, here’s how the world would look fully vegan. There’d be no soil left due to top soil run off from mono-cropping, so we wouldn’t be able to grow anything and we’d starve. There’d be world wide health problems due to vitamin and mineral deficiencies from uninformed people (only a small portion of the population is vegan now and look how many of them do it wrong). And finally processed food companies would have a monopoly on the food market. I’m all for being plant based but we’re omnivores, we have the ability to extract different sources of nutrition from both animal and plant foods. So do yourselves a favour people, eat more plants but eat some animals too.
Also, I had to put this comment here because Mic is so fragile that he can't handle any push back on his ideas, so he blocked me for this.........

@@ynghuch Your attempts at researching a projected future is interesting but not correct. The ONLY vitamin deficiency, which is still not entirely proven by science, is B12 and, as it is, we fortify cows milk with D so, yeah, problem solved. Fortification is an old practice. The amount of land needed to grow the entire world's food is far smaller than what we use now for cattle. There's lots of land to rotate crops on. "Starvation" would never be an issue. Whether we are herbivores, or omnivores, NOBODY needs to be tortured and slaughtered en mass for ME to live. If people choose to raise and slaughter their own animals, fine. But, the animal farms have to go. Perhaps if people are forced to kill animals themselves instead of conveniently purchasing body parts at the local store, maybe then we will see how much they really love their meat. Mike does his research and reports it like any good scientist and he would NEVER "beat a dead horse", or a live one. If you disagree so much, why do you watch and comment on pro-vegan videos????? We are responsible for being complacent to the corruption of our evil history. As individuals we can resonate with a vibration of compassion and care. What is the alternative? You see? When more and more people choose to be enlightened, responsible and steadfast in their conviction for Truth then the Town, City, Nation and then the World will not be under a dark cloud of hatred, misuse and down right disgusting acts and thoughts of unsoulfull attacks upon our most innocent of lives, our children aka our future. I believe it's biblical although I have no religion. We are One. Creation is a dual matrix system. There is a unholy trinity and a Holy Trinity. We have the freedom of choice so they say. Well when balance is wanted, balance will be had. I had to see for myself the deep lies of the food system (as a farmer) before I could even realise how evil the system had become and thats with alot of good intended people doing what they thought was/is right. I stopped killing animals for a living. I became mostly plant based. So personal choice will compound on it's self. There is so much to this but honestly your thoughts and feelings matter and to be in a state of hate will only feed the loosh that the Phoenicians need to stay alive and well on our present timeline. They are the hidden hands behind all their puppets. The end of this year will reveil the depths of their evil and the Earth will once again have heaven on Earth. It is a spiritual lesson if we choose to participate. Or.... you can be recycled and come back to this "Experience " and try awakening yourself back to yourself. God only wants clarity. Side note: Not all of us here have souls and are only pawns to be placemarkers for our benefit of self actualization. Go within. 911 represents the temples of our forehead (11) and the 9 represents the pineal gland that is our Godhead within. The 911 attacks were symbolic of destroying our connection to Source. Don't drink the koolaid. As a farmer, I cannot kill anymore to "Make a living", Meat production is a lie. Death does not give life. Let the worms do the work and build our soils. Stop eating FLESH and start loving everyone no matter what. The tides are turning and you are the witness.

*Dannnnnggg brotha!* This video was absolutely incredible.
1st off, this might very well be my favourite video you've ever made. You by all accounts did a phenomenal job.
2nd, if you would ever be willing to make that 2 hour video where you go in depth, as a collegiate student of an interdisciplinary degree with concentrations in Sustainability and Desert Food Production, I would be exceptionally interested in diving into the research that deeply 🙏🙏
You've always been one of my favourite UA-camrs because, in large part due to your and Dr. Greger's content, the values of thinking critically and citing your information with peer-reviewed sources became much more valued and disseminated in the plant based community at large.
The internet is chalked full of many exceptional, charismatic, and well intentioned people who make claims all day long and never cite even a single source.
It's like a breath of fresh air coming across content that is well cited because it gives you the ability to dive deeper yourself and deconstruct the information as best as you know how.
Otherwise it's just a postulated statement as far as the viewers are concerned.
That being said, I'm somewhat familiar with a great deal of this information, but I am definitely looking forward to going through the data points I haven't seen yet.
If anyone is interested in checking out most of the research I've been gathering with Sustainability, health, and ethics, with pandemic and ethics being much more scant, but will always be improving and adding to this resource as time goes on, so feel free to save the link and check back every so often 🙏😁
    docs.google.com/document/d/1o-BFoikIpUNaEkjWkR7c5Ix-xW-Pz6h56sZyXvgqqLs/edit?usp=drivesdk
I'm not claiming all of it is perfectly accurate or even updated, which I will get to later today, but I like to think it's a fairly useful document.. Also, if anyone notices any blatant errors, please let me know and show me so I can improve!
Sending much love to everyone! 🙌💙☮️
Lastly I just wanna say that veganism changed my life so dramatically for the better, it's hard to fathom.
I'll share my story for those to whom it is relevant:
I've always been a very sensitive and compassionate person, but definitely never made the link between animal products and the abused entailed, as I had been carefully trained to never inquire about that.
During the winter of 2015, I watched the documentary Earthlings on Netflix, witnessing the literal horrors of the factory farm industry (which produces 99% of ALL animal products, according to the USDA) I had been supporting for so long for the VERY FIRST TIME in my life.
    adaptt.org
    www.sentienceinstitute.org/us-factory-farming-estimates
Having always been a deeply compassionate and sensitive person, this unveiling truth RATTLED my soul to the CORE and initiated my first experience with exceptionally deep expurgation.
I immediately went entirely plant-based afterwards, leaving behind dead flesh forever and altogether which inadvertently sparked the most profound and ineffably precious transformation in my life that I've ever had the blessing of experiencing.
After a long time, years, when I finally felt like my heart had settled enough to consider looking again, I revisited the documentary of Earthlings by rewatching it and also watching Dominion and in doing so realized the egregious abuses that my nonvegan actions were still causing.
Now, having been FULLY VEGAN for so long (coming up on 4 years now), I have experienced an acceleration of SUCH potently salubrious health outcomes that previously I had never before even fathomed might have been graspable for me in my lifetime, and yet it STILL just gets better and better every year!
    I'll explain in more detail.
My mind has been opened to the limitless potential and possibilities I have in my life. I've become astronomically more deeply in tune with myself, my body, and my spirituality than I ever have before. Being in alignment with my innermost values (of not causing unnecessary harm to innocent victims) has been a profound shift for me.
As far as my physical health though, I feel so pumped with life force energy that I literally get cravings to work out and feel rapturous during and after the workouts. I'm astounded by the exceptionally prodigious experience that I'm having and more amazingly know that it is ONLY just the *tip* of the iceberg!
I'll find myself sometimes crying tears of joy sometimes because I feel so wonderful, I usually feel excellently balanced/vibrant as a baseline, and I've never felt nor measured so well in my physical health by every consideration!
I feel as though I've been given a precious miracle of the truth of life. After discovering Nutritionfacts.Org, among countless other fantasic resources for quality information, such as Mic the Vegan on UA-cam, I ignited my passion for research -especially in the sphere of health, and have now decided to become a whole foods, plant-based registered dietician with the Dieticians for Professional Integrity ^-^ Not only that, but I have mountains of vegan research in sustainability, health, some ethics, and soon pandemics as well gathered which is ever expanding in depth and quality

    • @ParadymShiftVegan
      @ParadymShiftVegan 4 роки тому +1

During these exercises, I would feel the release of all this energy in a big rush that felt phenomenal and I would perform way better at my physical activities than I ever would have expected from myself, and not from pushing myself, but from just _releasing_ all of this pent up, wonderful energy inside me -it felt so cathartic and even better, I guess you can call it an endorphin rush, would flood through my body during and after.
Often times, this led to the tears of ecstacy in the relaxing moments after having released all of that energy to satisfaction.
This continued until now I'm at the point where I still feel exuberantly rapturous while pushing myself to my limits every single day with both cardio and strength training, but I actually STILL get these bursts of energy, even with all this fitness I'm doing, so sometimes you can catch me hitting extra sets or extra runs at the random times I feel compelled to 😁😁
My health momentum just keeps building as my mind and body are developing to be so much sharper, stronger, and energized. I've never been in a place so great in my health and life as right now and I can CONFIDENTLY chalk it ALL up to the dietary changes I made. Especially considering that I used to eat cadavers and bodily secretions, yet I worked out even harder back then and was nonetheless having less energy, less pleasure, slower recovery, less motivation, less focus, less health, less mental acuity, less endurance, etc.
As soon as I took these out of my diet, *everything* changed _dramatically_ for the better. And now, in large part thanks to NutritionFacts.Org and Mic the Vegan on UA-cam, I have a LOT of science which explains exactly how and why this has happened to me.
I even impress the people I live or work out with in my health, fitness, and mind, based on their comments.
I used to feel like life was a half-baked sort of washed out experience.
Now I am LITERALLY chasing my wildest dreams and *never felt better!*
I still can hardly believe what has happened to me because it had been such a paradigm shift for me.
I *_really_* want as MANY people to have experiences like this as possible.
I was SO NAÏVE to the power of food choices in affect one's life -that's all notwithstanding the complete transformation of my life experience that I will call spiritual or psychological, however you want to look at it.
Food choice is WAY more potent a choice than I had EVER imagined, but it makes so much sense with the lens of "You are what you eat." It's hard to imagine being more thrilled to be alive, even though I know this exuberance for being alive is only going to continue to steadily improve as it has since the start and as the research supports 😁
So if anyone is wondering or waiting still, DON'T HESITATE!

Great video! Another advantage I thought of would be the change in overall consciousness of humans. Stuff like new generations of children being taught that animals are not here for us to exploit and how that mindset can carry over to other domains of our lives. In other words, we'll become a more compassionate species overall.

Hey Mic! Is video-response coming to Vegan Gains and his friend debunking reversal of heart disease?

Mic recently (past couple weeks or so) did a video on this topic and I don't remember if it referenced Vegan Gains. Have you already seen that one? I'll see if I can find the video title.

The videos I was thinking of are: A Vegan Diet Doesn't Reverse Heart Disease After All?

RemarkableSean yeah it was VG live debate one and the 39min video he did that plant based diet does not reverse of heart disease.
It’s just weird to me bc VG was saying this also right? And plus I’ve done nutrition in plant based diet and saw all the explanation and studies that it does. So a bit confused what to think.

@@WhiteDraqon if you're hoping to learn more for your own purposes, I'd have to highly recommend reading Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease by Esselstyn as well as Whole by Colin Campbell.
The more time I spend in the nitty gritty with research, scientific studies, and books/papers from doctors and scientists who've dedicated their lives to a subject, the more I realize that many UA-camrs suffer from the short-sightedness that plagues self-described "hackers" who seem to think they can shortcut their way to solutions and make firm conclusions from murky and possibly conflicting data.
Esselstyn's book obviously deals with heart disease and what it really means for humans in a very direct and practical sense. There seems to be a semantic argument going on over the word "reversal" and Esselstyn needs not waste any time with semantics when he's saving and improving lives.
Whole by Campbell is so enlightening - it goes in depth on the calculation errors that can arise from relying too heavily on a microscopic view of data while throwing out a wholistic view for concern that only apples-to-apples numbers are useful. It's among my very favorite books.
It's too bad the debate got cancelled, I think there's enough maturity in heart health to make it a good time for newer doctors and scientists to be challenging Esselstyn's work. I think that would spark the kind of interest that could really benefit the medical and nutrition fields.
None of this is to say anything objectionable about the individuals I disagree with. I think they're all pretty great (except Chris Kresser, I think he's really harmful) and from my biased perspective, I think they have a little learning to go - much like myself!

It’s one thing to let the planet go to hell because we don’t know how to produce viable alternative energy, but to destroy the world because we want our barbecue?! I mean I’d laugh my ass off if it weren’t so absurdly tragic.

The bay i grew up in on an island in greece is now almost fishless from the industrial fishing outside of the bay and the local fisherman within the bay, who still cant seem to grasp their responsibility for this tragedy..and none of those fisherman by the way needed the fish .. i know most of them personally. As a child i snorkelled there in wonder.. now its just an underwater desert. The same is true for the bays i swim in indonesia.

Nice video. It feels a bit like the book from alan weismann the world without us projecting into the future, but just with people and actually caring and trying to change for the better. Will be though to get there probably impossible but we will see how close se get in a few decades.
