Hey Mathias, as mentioned by other users, the Indonesian Indomie typically has the chilli sauce as well, but that version is sold only in Jawa and Bali, just like the Malaysian version. Hence why the Indomie you've bought in Medan is different. (Mentioned by users: Railroad 05 Indonesia and Caesar Mac) So, the extra chilli sauce and 5 grams of noodles are the reason why the Malaysian one has 70kcal more than the Medan (Sumatra) one for a single serving. Hope it clears out the confusion you may have got.

Can confirm. As far as I know, the globally marketed indomie goreng outside Indonesia is actually the one Mathias bought in Medan. And the "Malaysian" or "Jawa & Bali" version is marketed as the Indomie Goreng Pedas here in Europe. Though at some stores (and Amazon) here you can find the original ones with chilli sauce included in the package as well.

I love IINDOMIE a lot, like I can't live without it. I used to have Indomie goreng almost everyday. Even when I live in Japan I still eating Indomie from Indoneesia. There is Indomie goreng package for Japanese market but there is no chilli in the package, that feels like eating without salt. So I prefer Indonesian package, it's just perfect. When I moved to Turkey I've taste Indomie package which is produced in Saudi Arabia, but later Indomie open a new factory in Istanbul (yeay!). The Indomie goreng package from Istanbul factory is same asthe package produced in Indonesia. Oh I would like to eat Indomie goreng Malaysian package too, since I like to add some chilki sauce as an extra to my Indomie goreng

Well do you know that the chilli saus has been around 2000 to 2014 in indonesia.. Maybe people get bored so they put the chilli powder back thats the original spicy ingredient for indomie goreng.

It's not the same. I have already tried Malaysian indomie last year, Indomie Mie Goreng, very different taste from Indonesia Indomie. Indonesian indomie goreng far far better. I think they already modified it to Malaysian taste. IMHO.

Indomie di Sumatera memang beda dgn yg di Jawa Bali. Yg di Sumatera versi Indomie jadul, tdk pakai saus sambal.
