Good information on the repair and saving money on the replacement part. I also put power to the wires to make sure there was no clicking

I have a 2006 Chevy Colorado and I used your link in the description to buy the part. When I put in a 2006 Colorado, it shows that the part isn't compatible and says to buy a different one, 214-1680. This is also confirmed on Rockauto. Not sure what happened but I just wanted to put this out there. Thanks for the video.
Edit; I actually replaced it a few months ago using the part number mentioned in the video. I see what he did, he showed the actual part without all the extra stuff so it's quite a bit cheaper. They updated something on it for the Colorado but the bigger trucks still use the one in the video. I had the same issue as he did in the video, the split down the side from condensation freezing in it, and I swapped it out. Wasn't a lot to it except the rust under the truck. Light hasn't gone off yet but I haven't checked it for any other codes. Again, thanks for the video.

What shows the part isn’t compatible? An online order form ? Edit , so I just checked his part and your part number for my 05 Colorado and neither of them show compatible. His title is likely correct that this is the procedure for a 04-12 Colorado but as far as the part number goes maybe it doesn’t apply to all years.

@@georgiabigfoot I wasn't saying he was incorrect, I was letting people know that they shouldn't just go buy that part number because it doesn't seem to work for all Colorado's in that range.

@@hjsn1 ok very good, I’m going to pull the bad one on my 05 and see what part number it has on it. Thanks for the clarification.

The part 214-1680 that you mentioned is a purge solenoid, not the vent solenoid shown in this video, but you're right, Amazon says that the 214-2149 solenoid ($26) from this video doesn't fit. It's meant for a Silverado, Sierra, Yukon etc. The 2004-2012 Canyon and Colorados call for 214-2241 (or 20907779) which is a mostly identical solenoid with a hose attached. This guy's video shows you how to attach your old hose and make the cheaper part work to save $100.

@@hjsn1 I have a 2007 colorado and I bought the product he linked. It does not fit my truck. The electrical connector is a different type.

Great vid, got 171,500 on my 05. Haven’t had replace mine yet but great idea to just unscrew bolt and let canister hang while replacing the vent valve, this will be my go to vid when it happens, watched a bunch of vids on this fix and they always pull all the the lines, ur way is much quicker simpler, thanks for posting, hopefully u will show ur rocker panel fix, mine is shot too

Thanks for the link. I’ve had this replaced 3 yrs in a row as soon as weather warms up for a day and then goes back to freezing the light comes on. Just in time for inspection. It’s getting expensive $300 each time. I can do this myself.
That part the same on a 2010 LT 3.7L ?

Thanks for the savings! Just got mine on today, using a heat gun helped get that hose onto the new solenoid. Did your CEL go away on its own or do I need to clear it? Edit: I did not clear it, and it went away on its own after 3-4 10 minute errands (6-8 drives)

Awesome video! I did have one question, do you know what the actual name for the 3/8th hose that attaches to the actual canister is? I was replacing the whole canister and the plastic on that one was incredibly brittle but I can’t find a new part anywhere.

Have your system smoke tested at a shop. It could be several different leaks in the fuel system. Fuel pump steel capture ring rusts out. Fuel filler neck can rust out. Steel lines going up front also. Gas cap gasket can go bad too.

If you have a 2007 Colorado DO NOT BUY THE PART HE LINKED. The electrical connectors are different and will not fit.
