  • Owning a home or condo has never been more difficult for a young person facing underemployment and Toronto’s hot housing market. And new numbers from StatsCan bear that out. More young people than ever are still living with their parents.

I would rather stay home, work and save towards a down payment for a house or condo instead of throwing away money for rent.

Chris ck gotta start somewhere. I'm not saying live in a shoebox tho lol. If your not a condo person, townhouses are good starter homes as well.

Nothing wrong with staying with your family. The idea log of every person having their own place has contributed in the surge of housing market. Unity is wealth as well, multiple incomes in a household : )

I just feel judged negatively by society for not being able to afford to live on my own.

Ask the society to feed, cloth and shelter you then. Who cares what the society thinks. We wouldn't have this homeless issue if parents take back homeless children until they can stand on their feet.

It's not going to get better any time soon. We have thousands of illegal migrants to finance now & there doesn't seem to be any end in sight to that mess either...

Asian families commonly live together with multiple generations. Canada loves Asian immigrants.

Nwo its here. This country is being destroyed by a back door communist agenda, just look at it now identity politics, disapearance of the chemical family, our rights are being taken away with "hate speech laws". We also have a generation of indoctrinated uni kids that are helping it happen AND our.children are being sexualized with the new curriculum. This is Marxism folks Wake up!

Mayor Tory is ultra conservative pretending to be Liberal to get neoliberal voters on his side and gullible liberals too. Ford has destroyed rent control among other things - blame him for the most part as Toronto slides rapidly to number one least affordable city to live in around the world; currently 6th in 202-.... was 10th in 2019.

He's 29 and just starting college. So after high school ill aasume he just worked and couldn't pull away from the money he was making and go to college 6 yrs sooner. Possibly enjoyed life spending his money and not saving like so many I know past their 30s who now realize they should of saved and bought 8 yrs ago a home.

increase prices and not salary. yet government is in shock with that! duh. and another thing that it really sucks is the fact that even with a Minimum wage increase once it increases the prices also increases like c'mon people stop increasing the prices !! or else the minimum wage increase is meaningless.

@Mason Moore just watched it again - the issue was/is the level of jobs are not available for the level of qualification. But having lived in Toronto I was not without in terms of the job market, as was pretty much everyone with a bankable degree. If you do an English degree or drama, that is fantastic and you are most definitely more cultured than myself but sadly it does not land you a job when the number of roles is sparse for what you want to do. Also the prices are high because the market is skewed in Toronto and the large number of tech companies paying 6 figure salaries. But who knows we may about to see a correction with the market. What was your view of the video?
