One of the nicest restoration process I have ever seen. Let me know if you need any help upgrading it, I would love to colaborate with someone like you. Cheers and God bless, Tudor P.
This is just brilliant! Thanks so much for doing the video and for doing it so well. Either I'll be saving myself a fair bit of time and money or I'll be shipping a box of pieces across the country when I realize that I missed some key step. Anyway, thanks!
Very nice video! Just picked up a 40 year old Europiccola, needs new seals.and a good cleaning, and the base under the drip tray is even more rusted than yours. Planning to clean it up and paint it. Nice to know about the use of phosphoric acid to clean up and stop the rust before priming!
Hi, sounds like a good plan ☕ :) Phosphoric acid is used to react with the rust. Cause with sanding you won't get all particles removed. And it could start getting rusty again under your new paint application. Good Luck with the restauration. 👍
@@flexdahill Yeah, I used a lot of it... I don't think I got all the rust, and there are actual small holes in the part under the drip tray. This poor thing was badly neglected over 30-35 years... Limescale was so bad it ate the heating element up. I figure the base will last at least another decade with the paintjob and care, and I can replace it at some point. Got seals and a heating element on the way, by next week I'll have it rebuilt!
@@flexdahill Yeah, I figure if I take proper care of it that it'll outlast me! There's no reason it should have been allowed to rust or scale up so badly.
Great video. I am about to attempt to refurb a La Pavoni Professional in very similar condition. Did you do anything to clean up the chrome (that you didn't paint) besides soak in citric acid. Is there anything else that can be done to clean, perserve, or protect the chrome? I'd appreciate anyone's ideas. Also, does anyone know were to get a full gasket kit that includes grease?
I've never changed my boiler base gaskets (looking to soon), but I was reading that you have to torque the boiler ring on really hard with a dedicated tool. How did you tighten yours, and does the boiler swivel when the machine is hot? Thanks for the great video!
Hey, wich gaskets do you mean? (time in the video?) But i just tightend everthing like I showed. So no special tools or too much power where used. Nothing is lose and no swiveling :)
Super cool. Thanks for this video :-) as your machine is all chrome, maybe you could replace the plastic sink with a stainless steel / chrome one. a cheap but effective upgrade imo.
Best video I've ever seen re La Pavoni. I get a lot of steam leakage from the "oval" group head (held on to the boiler by 2x 14mm nolts). I had assumed there was a gasket in there as I am unable to tighten the 2x 14mm bolts any more yet still get vast amounts of steam and spluttering water from this joint. Any suggestions? Do I just put a liberal coating of silicone food-grade grease on the two faces here for example? Also I need to replace the gasket the boiler sits on - can I just unscrew the boiler or do I HAVE to tinkle with the electrics and remove the heating coil the way you did?
Thanks :) With a new gasket it should be sealed, but yes the original one is quite thin, so maybe you can get a thicker one somewhere. (Food- and heat-compatible) And just make a foto of alle the cabels before you take it appart so you can reassamble everything, cause I think that makes the job easier as well as the cleaning.
@@flexdahill I managed to remove it - the machine is from 1995 and probably has not been serviced before, so it took me a bit longer including the use of tools...
Great video! I read that citric acid can be bad for the chrome finish, is this true? I have already taken my La Pavoni apart and don't want to damage anything.
Excellent! I just miss one thing: is there a way to remove the water level indicator glass mounts? The ones above and below it. There are some nuts inside the boiler I can't access.
Hey i have a pre milenium europicolla which stopped heating up after I overused it one day. Do you if the heating element is fried or its something else I can do?My version doesnt have the red button to reset the thermostat.
Recently restored my Europiccola. Good results finally but seems my repair skills leave much to be desired. The backround music for my job should have been "Ride of the Valkyries" LOL
Can you please share how long you left the chrome parts soaking in the citric acid water bath? Also wondering how much citric acid powder you used and how much water? Thank you
in the cold citric acid water bath, the very chalky parts won't to be clean. So I had them for around 2h in hot water (around 80°). That works fine! :) I just forgot to film that part. I don't really remember how much I used. But I think that will just change the time, you have to wait for a good finish. Good luck :)
Ecco questa è tutta arrugginita come la mia nella vaschetta dove cade il caffè dopo averlo fatto. Ma non dovrebbero essere in acciaio inox? Invece sono in ferro! Con quello che costano da nuove?

Arguably, the best video on La Pavoni I have seen after the company video...
Just ordered a gasket kit new power switch and limit switch for my
pre-millennium PC-16… appreciate the demo!
It is an exceptional video. Congratulations.
Grazie mille!!!
Thanks for taking care of this wonderful machine. Beautiful.
Great video, too.
Thank you, Thank you, and Thank you...!!!

Happy, it was useful, good luck with yours. :)
... beautifully done, thanks :)
Very nicely restorated and also beautifully filmed. 👌
Good work, you made it new.
I wish I could buy it, great work mate. Hopefully you will continue to create more videos
My next video is in progress. Thanks ☺️
Awesome!. This video is very helpful.
I'm going to fix my La pavoni too.
Great job 👏 just got myself the same project
I need to mark this. Awesome
Thanks 😊
beautiful 😊
one question for a noob, how do you polish all the chrome parts withouth scratching them?
Wonderful job!

When you know what you're doing it looks easy.

So do you get back that shiny boiler only by putting it on water with citric acid??

Hello!!! How long should it be submerged in citric acid?
Hi, until it is clean :) depends, may take a few hours or a day. It helps as well to heat the acid a bit, just not boiling.
Thank you very much for answering. Your video is helping me a lot to restore my La Pavoni.
Finally, does the acid affect the outside? Isn't it harmful?
That was awesome! Great video
Thanks 😊
Great job. Good luck with the machine :)
Thanks 😊
Great job buddy 👍
Any tips on removing the tank? It moved a few millimeters and seems to be stuck now. Rotating counterclockwise...
Should be easy to remove. At least in my case. Everything removed there is just the tank in a plastic thread.🤞
@@flexdahill I managed to remove it - the machine is from 1995 and probably has not been serviced before, so it took me a bit longer including the use of tools...
How long do you leave it in the citric acid?
Great video! I read that citric acid can be bad for the chrome finish, is this true? I have already taken my La Pavoni apart and don't want to damage anything.
I wouldn't know that there is any effect on chrom, but better check again. :)
Great video. How did you clean inside the boiler? Did it have oxidized layer build up?
Excellent! I just miss one thing: is there a way to remove the water level indicator glass mounts? The ones above and below it. There are some nuts inside the boiler I can't access.
Sorry can´t help you with that, I haven´t tried. :)
Soy de argentina..y me gustaría q me digas como puedo conseguir los repuestos....el.video está muy bueno.
Interested in purchasing a restored pre mill La Pavoni. What should the inside of the reservoir look like?

:D good result with epic music
Hi, nice video, how I can polish the entire machine? thanks
you can just do it by hand with a polishing cloth. :)
Hi, thanks a ton for this. Did you use the old o-rings? Or you purchased new ones? If so, from where?
Hi, I bought new o-rings from pavoni-hamburg.de :)

Great work man. thanks for sharing ! I have got to get down to business and restore mine.
Good video , but I have to say the Machine in the video is not very old in La Pavoni , it is kind of new model
Awesome ~~♡♡
That is certainly espresso porn

not a fan of what you did with the drip tray, but everything else was cool.
Thanks, It´s not visible, so i felt like that should be enough effort. ;p
